My dad never really taught me basic maintenance, he always paid to get things done. I love doing it myself so thank you for making this!

Great videos. When I bought same model as yours few years back, the big box store played stupid (last time I'll buy from them) as if there were no printed manuals. Downloaded them from Husky but much easier to watch your well done videos while working than squinting at the manuals on my phone. Plus like that you include parts #s. Keep up the great work!

I bought one of these types of filters this spring for my yearly maintenance and my mower kept dying after installing the filter. It turned out that I can't run this type of filter on my old craftsman mower because it doesn't have a fuel pump and I wasn't pulling the fuel through the paper filter and basically running out of gas with a full tank. I thought that the filter was bad or the fuel line was partially blocked or that there might have even been something in the carb but I called my local repair shop and they said that the paper filters are meant to be used for engines with fuel pumps and the old mesh disc type filters are to be used on my mower. I replaced it with a OEM disc filter and it's been running like a champ since. It wasn't a costly mistake but this might save someone else 5 bucks if they read it. Thanks for the videos Dennis. They are very informative and enjoyable.

Thank you for watching! Yes, I don't see many these days, but the smaller engines do use those flat fuel filters....seen a lot of them on Snappers. Glad you got it worked out and thanks for sharing your experience!

Thanks Dennis, I always enjoy your delivery. I recently bought a Husky ride on. I have the removable panels like yours, and spent 20 minutes trying to work out how to remove them until it dawned on me that I was looking but not seeing, cheers

Thanks for watching, Andrew! It took me a minute when I first got mine to work out those panels too...haha. I missed the plastic pin underneath....once I found it, I was good to go!

Hi Dennis, love your video's, they help me with my lawn tractor, i have the same model as you but im was wondering how and what do you use to keep the engin so clean ? maybe you can do a video
@dwcoffey
@dwcoffey 3 года назад
Thanks for watching, Robert! Nothing fancy, I literally just wipe it off with a rag (when it's cool) and spray it off with the garden hose every so often. When I do an oil change, I usually take a little extra time...spray it with water, wipe the nooks and crannies, then rinse it.

The engine on my 46" Hasquanava blew up yesterday. It was 8 years old with over 400 hrs on it. I thought about getting a zero-turn but since I wanted to be able to use my $400 baggers decided to go with the same mower. I had a heck of a time finding one. Seems these mowers are in short supply. Talked to my lawnmower repair guy and he said these Briggs engines are hard to find so decided to treat myself to a new mower. Wonder if I should do a little reinforce welding on the deck so it doesn't break loose like the first one...
@dwcoffey
@dwcoffey 3 года назад
Thank you for watching, David! Sorry to hear about your mower. Some people have had similar experiences like you and I both on those deck welds, but some people never have a problem. I'd probably just keep an eye on the welds and at the first sign of separation, clean them up and reinforce them.

Hi Dennis, I only clamped off the tank side when I changed mine, minimal amount of fuel came out of the engine side. They actually make fuel line hose clamps to pinch off fuel flow but channel lock worked for me. Thanks for the Great Videos?

How many hours on your mower? I have about 191 on mine and never changed fuel filter.
@dwcoffey
@dwcoffey 3 года назад
Thanks for watching, Kevin! Briggs and Husqvarna recommend changing them every year. I've got 300 hours on my mower and I've just now changed it. I suppose it has a lot to do with the quality of gasoline in your area and from your supplier. Mine wasn't clogged or giving me problems, but since they're so cheap, I just decided to change it.

Hi Dennis, hope you and the family are well. I've recently become aware that the rpms on my yard machines, especially the mowers should be checked for proper setting. Plus, I don't want then to blow apart if rpms are set too high! Can you suggest a decent tachometer that is both durable a easy to use. Greatly appreciated. Perhaps a lot for a future video?

Thanks for watching, Robert! I'd check the idler pulley for the drive belt. They tend to wear out and get noisy.

@dwcoffey
@dwcoffey 3 года назад
Thanks for watching, Ron! First check to be sure the belt is turned properly. The deck belt is flat on one side and tapered on the other. The tapered side should be running in the spindle pulleys. I've had one on backwards before and it would pop off every time. Next, double check your belt routing, you should have a diagram on the deck. If not, let me know and I can send you a link for a diagram. The only other thing I've run into, is the belt popping off if I disengage the blades too quickly. I've always had to ease the PTO lever to the 'disengage' position to avoid making the belt come off. Let me know if these things don't help.

@@dwcoffey Turns out both belt keepers were broken off. Don't know how they could have broken 2 of them. Looking forward to more video's.

Great video but when you’re pulling the hoses apart wyn not tip the hose upwards pop the fuel filter on the one end so you hardly spill and fuel then the same with the other end way less messy Judy my opinion and being a girl and being able to save money doing this on my own is awesome thank you for sharing this video 👍👍👍👍
