i just got hired straight outta school, no experience. the company came to my school, i talked to them, then got my hazmat/tanker endorsements filled out an application online they called a couple of times, trying to get my tested scores from school. then bang phone rung about a month or two later, they asked if i would like to work the night shift. all drivers are guaranteed a minimum of $1400 a week. no experience. so it’s possible to get straight on. you need a clean mvr. and i’m a convicted felon. it’s been 20yrs since my conviction tho. “nothing can stop u but u.”

My first job out of high school was for a fuel transport company. Changing tires, service, fixing lights. They put me in a truck when I was 19 and fuel tankers and propane trailers are the only trailers I’ve ever pulled in 38 years. I work about 53 hours a week in five days and make about $73,000 a year. I don’t think I have spent twenty nights out of town in that time.

I am now looking to get into fuel hauling I know that's where the money is at, I'm glad I'm ahead of the game learning this now and not be those truck drivers working for 5-10 years for a regular company knowing they could've made more money hauling fuel...

Been driving 19yrs. Been pulling fuel for 2yrs. Fuel is dangerous but ez work. Good money with not a lot of driving most times. Depending how far you have to go out from the fuel terminals. I’ll do 3 to 4 stops in 12hrs, maybe one 14hr a week. Be it a pump off (diesel 1993) or gas stations. In about 200 to 270miles total per day. I’m on a 4 day work week. With options to pick up an extra day. However there are health risk that goes along with fuel like “Breathe in”. But I do know driving 25+yrs in good health.

Making an update here. This year in my local area we've seen a 7.00 increase this year and 1.00 extra for night shift work. The range is 31.00 - 34.00 avg. 50+ hours a week, full benefits etc. Only 2 here are still paid by the load that I know of. Considering 3 years ago top pay was 23.00 and hour... you do the math. It’s all about location and where you sign up or what company you want to work for. I preferred not to work for a large company. And I still prefer not to. I would imagine if you work for a larger outfit you can earn more. It doesn’t have to be fuel. It’s all about what’s HOT where you live
