I the fuel pump on my 1999 Honda ACE Tourer 1100cc, I find that taking the battery out, and that the battery holder out, I can take the fuel pump through this area without taking the cooling container out. Not sure your battery sits on the left side of the motorcycle like my though.
Mine went out at 30,000 miles ('96 VT1100) so I replaced it with a used one ($25) off of a later model 1100 Saber and it's still going strong at 58,000 miles! They are a bear to get at and I found most of my time working from under them bike.
Just converted mine today with the Mr. Gasket 42 electric fuel pump 1-4 psi I mounted it under the right side panel. I just disconnected the old one and just left it there. Removed all the old fuel lines and re ran the new ones from the fuel tank under the seat and to the left side under the side cover than back up under the tank to the carb inlet. It was a piece of cake. Works great. Black and Blue is your power and green is your ground. Bike even seems to run better. Total cost with new fuel lines aswel was $ 60 Bought fuel pump from autozone and fuel lines too. The stock fuel system by Honda is not very good or reliable.
I find that taking the battery and holder out, and you don't need to take the coolant reservoir out. Just reach through to take the fuel lines off and lose one screw that holds the pump metal strap. Bend the pump strap down and pump should be able to come out where the battery and holder were.
Fuel pump came out for me right side between tool box and exhaust pipe. No need to fiddle with reservoir. Undo top bolt on fuel pump bracket, take all the hoses off, unplug and pull out from right side.
Let me comment my way. i dod take the battery and the battery tray out left side i did loosen the coolant reservoir bolts and took of the the hoses so reservoir is very loose to get plenty space to reach at the pump and screws ( i did not take the reservoir out p.s i couldn't ) then i worked my way from the left side took hoses off the pump and slide it out from the left side try this way
The model hes working on had a much smaller reservoir than mine (2002 sabre). Although loosening it did allow it to move a bit for access to the nut.. now to see if i can put it back together. Sheesh
Thanks for the video. You showed exactly nothing. Do you even own any tools? This video did manage to waste my time and reaffirms that people will do about anything for to make a dumb video for someone to watch
