I don’t get any of the complaints. The X100V was an incredibly popular, refined and successful camera. This has brought what most people would have wanted - IBIS, a better sensor, no real increase in size and better battery efficiency. The lens has been widely regarded as very good. One can complain about the price but we have had a lot of inflation since 2020.

The price in my country is 50% plus from X100V. I've bought X100V brand new with 1200 euros now is 1800 euros. 600euros more for an incremental upgrade, that is destroying the compactness, the battery for sure is not efficient, build quality questionable, and no improved lens - mediocre lens for sure. I do prefer to add 1k more and buy a Leica Q2. It's simple logic. X100VI is priced like a gold TikTok jewel - only it's silver. Fujifilm is going for the profits with this price and made in China - it's clear for me that. We will see if the TikTok hype will help them sell this camera at the new price or the prices will drop. My guess is that the prices will drop - this also happened with Fujifilm X-T5 that was overpriced at launch.

Tudor you are a man of integrity and it's appreciated. I think what you illustrate is the flipside to the marketing philosophy of 'give the customers what they want', which often translates to the customers getting what they deserve. For sure, why IBIS? I have an X Pro3 and never lament lack of IBIS. I like it on my M 4/3 cameras, but I can get sharp shots at quite low shutter speeds on X Pro3 with standard to wide angle lenses and the ISO can float reasonably high without wrecking the shot. X Trans seems to do well there, just looking like film grain rather than noise. Hats off to Fuji all the same, the pre-orders have broken records from what I hear, so it is good news for profits, which means they will make more cameras etc:-)

I sold my OM-D E-M10 IV a month or so back and got a used X-E4 with 18mm f/2 and just added the XC 35mm. Happy I made the right choice not to wait for this camera. One good thing, it may reduce used price on the V. (ps I have kept my Panasonic GX880 with 14mm :)

Great video. I agree with you 100%. The X-T5 is similar size, same sensor, better viewfinder and has interchangeable lenses. The fanboys will see the light very quickly I think.

It's just an incremental upgrade which makes total sense. It's great for people who haven't upgraded for 8 years and are looking for something new. Expecting a reason to upgrade every 2 years is kind of a problematic expectation with our fast moving society.

If you are saying that the X100VI is as big as the X-T5, then the same should have applied to the X100V... The height and width of both the X100VI and X100V are exactly the same. It is the depth of the cameras where we see the 2mm addition over the X100V... in other words, they are almost the same size. I'll gladly except the 1.5oz of extra weight to have IBIS. Could Fujifilm have come out with an improved battery in the same size as the NP-W126S in order to keep dimensions the same? Perhaps, but as long as the battery life is not that much different than its predecessor I'm okay with that.

Check the battery life it's not looking good. It has the weight of XT5, and it's heavier than Sony A7c and Canon r8 full frame cameras. The camera is GOOD... But not for my liking at the current price.

@@Tudor_Mateescu ... I checked the battery life and the weight... X-T5 weight is a little more, but that's still without a lens. A7C II is a tad lighter, but that does not include a lens either. Sony tends to be behind the other competitors in terms of EVF and LCD quality in order to help preserve battery life and to offer a full-frame sensor at their asking price($2200USD). Canon R8 has mostly a polycarbonate body(aka: plastic) and has no mechanical shutter. All of those cameras are interchangeable lens cameras... it's not what I am looking for. For the use cases I plan to put this camera in, I wanted to limit myself with either a 35-40mm equivalent fixed focal length... full-frame was not a priority or a requirement. I'm also not too crazy about both Sony's and Canon's colors, but some of these things are personal preferences.

The funny thing is, during the X100VI rumors and upon release, a lot of X100V suddenly appeared in the online secondhand market here in my place and sellers are still asking € 1,250 - € 1,900 for a used one with thousands of shutter count. So much for the hype.

The new higher price will keep the X100V price high. Also, the X100V has "made in japan" while the VI is made in China... i think there will be some regrets for those that sold their V.

What's your point? Japan has a history of making cameras and "made in Japan" makes some people feel the quality is better. Would you by a Leica that wasn't hand assembled in Germany for the same price or more than a Leica that was? Iphones are marketing hype built by workers who are treated horribly.

@@GetOffMyyLawn my X-E4 says made in Indonesia and my XT5 says made in China. I think you might be surprised if you do some Googling this has been going on for awhile with many models. You might be right that some people only want Japanese made X100’s but my guess is most people have no idea and don’t care as long as it is a good product.

And I agree, perhaps some people will cherish an X100 made in Japan, but my guess is the majority of buyers a) won’t know or b) won’t care as long as it’s a good product and they like it. But yes I’m curious how the market will play out as I’m seeing the used market get flooded with X100Vs still going from $1400 to $2200.

X100V and X100VI - weather sealed (with adapter and filter) plus tilt-screen - these are _requirements_ for many digital street photographers Leica Q - not weather sealed and no tilt-screen Leica Q2 - no tilt-screen Plus, in most countries the Leicas cost far more than any X100V or X100VI So there is that.

X100v/x100vi - aps-c without a summilux and a full frame sensor 😁 Lumix GX9 and Olympus with 17mm f1.8 have similar IQ with the 24mp aps-c sensor.

I mean, is it fair to compare the Leica Q line with the X100 line? Take a Q3 and it’s going to win it all. Weather sealed, full frame, with one of the best Summilux ever made. But again, I don’t see how those cameras can compete. Apples and oranges…

The only huge plus compared to the x-t5 is the hybrid viewfinder. The x-t5 viewfinder is not really reliable when it's sunny. The x-pro 3 doesn't seem like a nice rangefinder option due to the screen issues. Therefore today the x100vi is the only fuji rangefinder camera worth considering. It may change with the x-pro 4, but it probably won't come out this year.

When it's sunny set the viewfinder of XT5 to +5 luminosity. The X100Vi is a good camera but at the actual price, performance, size and weight other alternatives comes to mind.

All speculation, without actually _using_ the camera! There are plenty of people who have been _actually_ using the X100VI the last couple of weeks and say the X100VI is not compromised nearly as much as Tudor is speculating. Please watch _their_ videos as well.

Yes... Paid influencers:) I'm not saying the camera is bad. I'm saying that for me there is no excitement. And the price in Europe for this is outrageous - even the Fujifilm manager had some esitation when he announced the price - check the xsummit.

I think the review is helpful for the people on the fence who would rather not spend the money and were looking for some reasons to keep using what they have. I was very excited about this, but ill pass indeed. There is a lot of excitement and hype for it so a ton of those will be sold, meaning the market botleneck will resolve. Used x100 of all generations and conditions will be available at saner prices once the rush dies out, and like with other models there will be discounts by Thanksgiving / Christmass

You are wrong because you don’t understand that X100 series is not a version of X-Pro series. The X100 series is a lifestyle camera for people who want their camera to look good and have fun using a camera that adapts to them no matter what their experience level is. For that purpose the X100 VI with the IBIS and the 40mp is a great upgrade because it adds good video and has better cropping potential. Does my lens maximize my sensor? Nobody cares, the end result is good enough no matter how you get to it.

No, I'm not wrong. What I said doesn't contradict what you've said. That's just a face of x100v - a recent one. And I have no problem with it. For memories I do prefer x100v/f and not the BULKY X100VI.

Your preferences aren’t wrong. I too was disappointed because I hoped they would replace the lens with a weather sealed 18mm, use the stacked sensor with a CF Express slot and a bigger battery to make it the ultimate fixed lens prosumer photo and video camera. I don’t get the obsession with weight and size, this camera series was never pocketable.

Hufff... sacrificing size for ibis. I was affraid of this but never believed fuji to make this decision. It seems like fuji is turning what was a photocentric camera into another hybrid thing. I'll pass it. Also 40mp sensors are sacrificing everything fuji is for me, because lenses are becoming bigger and bigger, maybe to revolve for the higher resolution

Exactly - the Olympus/ micro four thirds mistake. I've just looked at weight. Fujifilm x100vi is heavier than Sony a7c full frame body and also then canon r8 full frame camera with 100+ grams.... It has almost the weight of Fujifilm X-T5 (that has the bigger battery)... And I could go on ...

Its almost 20mm shorter and 9mm skinnier than the x-t5 and it has a lens. It is not the same size as an X-T5 at all. It's literally 2mm thicker than the x100v and all other measurements are the same. To say it's chunkier misleading. No one is going to practically notice a 2mm difference.

You said exactly what I’ve been thinking. I’ve been waiting for the X100vi to release for months but I’m rather disappointed by the price. Adding the extra cash to make the X100vi weather resistant almost gets you to the price of the XT5 with the 27mm pancake lens. I feel like now the XT5 or XPRO 3 is the smarter option to buy

I was truly hoping that the rumors were wrong about being made in china. Nikon ZF here we come. I’ll just call it the ZF100😂. But still I know you don’t like that lens, but I still think it’s stellar and far better than the f. Strongly disagree it is not a extraordinary lens and every bit as good as a Q lens. I’m convinced you had a bad copy.

@@WhoIsSerafin yes... Micro four thirds... It should have been better. Maybe there are some test with 23mm f1.4 WR. I think you'll love Nikon ZF - I'm thinking about that option too. For sure it is better even if the 40mm f2 it's an entry level lens - the full frame sensor is helping a lot.

Its not worth it. Resell value will tank because made in China means it will stay available. Fuji would rather reap the rewards than let camera flippers cash in. Cant blame them but historically Fuji tanks prices after a year so if you buy the 6 plan on keeping it or reselling less than $1000

lol, have you seen the pre-order numbers? Moving to China doubled the production to 10,000 units per month, but that’s not a huge amount. B&H alone has more than 10,000 pre-orders. My guess is it will be sold out for quite a while and you’ll still have to wait to get hands on them, but won’t be a 12month wait like the x100v.

@@Burritosarebetterthantacoswhere is this flooding the market? The demand is already outstripping the supply. There is no flooding the market when the demand is much stronger than the supply. The x100v had a 6-12 month waiting list 4 years after release. The china move only doubled production to 10,000 units per month… it’s not like it’s 10x capacity. The demand is already historic and there is a good chance they still won’t be able to keep up with demand even with doubled capacity, at least early on.
