As the cooler months approach it won't be long until we say goodbye to all the Summer flowers! To be honest, I'm actually REALLY looking forward to it and the cooler days that will be here soon. Before the temperatures start to drop, I wanted to do a full tour of the flower farm to share all of the beautiful flowers currently blooming. Join me for my morning walk through my backyard flower farm whilst you also sip on your morning (or afternoon) cup of tea of coffee!

Hey there!
Welcome to my channel, The Nature Patch where I like to share all things gardening, cooking, environmental science and flower farming in my Australian bushland backyard in south coast NSW.
My name is Robyn, an environmental scientist, and flower farmer. I have recently completed my PhD in understanding how people's wellbeing and their connection to nature is impacted by land use change but now I'm taking a break from research to pursue a dream of owning a flower farm. I've always loved gardening and nature and lately have been interested in growing my own organic food!
On this channel you'll find videos relating to garden tours, 'how to' videos, composting, soil health and how to start a flower farm.
I try to upload twice a week and I hope you enjoy!!
🤎 Filmed and edited on Yuin country. I acknowledge and pay respects to Traditional Owners of the land past, present and emerging. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.

My zindarellas are short too and produce small flower heads. I thought the soil in the pot needed a refresh but maybe that is how they grow. Love your mug!

I bet sea holly would look great in xmas baubles as well if they keep long enough!

I Have the button zinnias in Fluor pink, and I let them re seed themselves along with my cosmos in yellow and deep pink! Gardening the easy way! But not as reliable as yours would be! Love to see your next video !

Make sure you pinch the zinnias until you get the height you need

Absolutely ☺️ Most have been okay but even with pinching the Zinderella zinnias are so short 😢

I just pinched my zinderellas , but I’m not sure they’re going to get any higher from it, they’re notorious for shorter stems . Mine are in a toughest survive situation so probably shorter still.

Hi Robyn my name is Jodi. I came across your channel on RU-vid just in time. I love your products and content. I'm starting a Lavender farm in the US Pendleton Indiana. I have a few questions for you. I see your store is shopify. I just started mine. You mentioned you use square for your pos. Is this still correct? Also I would like to do bath salts and wanted to know what tubes and jars you use and where did you find the labels. I start my first market in May. Getting my setup all ready. Making products and still adding to my online store. It is taking some time. I also am using shopify. Thank you so much. We currently live on a small farm and I have lot's of flowers and a small cut flower garden. 🌼

Hi Robyn, your garden is so vibrant and colourful, I love it! 🌈 I too planted some dahlias from seed this year and the result really is a mixed bag isn't it 😂 Your red and white one though is stunning! A keeper for sure. Are you dealing with mites? It seems most growers are this year, it causes leaf curling and I wonder if it's contributing to your thin stems too? I wish I could grow strawflowers like yours! The caterpillars devour mine but the one or two that do make it only grow one long stem with a single bloom at the top. Is this right? Should I be pinching the plants when small or does each plant only produce one flower? Thanks for sharing your farm with us!

Thank you!! Ah, yes I'm dealing with quite a few bugs on the dahlias this year. I'm not sure if they are mites, but the leaf curling and thin stems might be a symptom that there are some... With the strawflowers, I kept pinching them and cutting the stems quiet deep to make sure they branched out, before the plant sent up it's first long stem. They love a good trim so don't feel bad cutting them back :)

We’ve had some unseasonal flowerings of gladioli and the bugs are decimating them. And eating a lot of the zinnia and sunflower successions. That queen zinnia I think is queen lime blush :)

Are you sure you want to rip up the sea holly? The hard work is done, won't they go nuts in spring? Those black beetles are harassing us all. Apparently, it is called Hibiscus beetle or sugar cane beetle, I'm econeeming weekly to try to wipe them out. I tried white bucket trap, but it's didn't catch many.

They will definitely look beautiful, however over the years I think it'll be a lot to maintain them and keep them out of other rows as they self seed everywhere. Ah yes! Those bugs are so damaging! I'm going to get on to some eco neem oil too, thanks for the tip!

@thenaturepatch I haven't had them self seed because I picked them all out and or had them in pots. I was considering putting them into the garden... maybe I shouldn't.

Did you save any of the anemone corms from last year since they did so well for you? 🙂

I didn’t unfortunately :/ I was planning on it but didn’t get around to storing them properly to dry. As soon as spring hit it was so humid which made it difficult.
