Very nice Louie!!! Its colors and look are really fitting for its era! That badge comes from the original issue. Its a belt buckle for kids to wear after building the model. The giant parachute is a leftover from the MPC 72 Cougar which had a spoof version to build
Great factory looking Cougar. Interesting info about the different colors used on the chassis/frame. And those styrene strips to adjust ride height come in handy on the older kits.
Nice build clad you did a more unusual color skeem and a vinyl top. Car manufacturers were offering some strange options back in those days. It was all about being different. You showed it well. The Cougar the early’70s Mustangs had all of that do nothing space up front to save your life in case of a 5 mph “crash “.😂
Does anybody remember the ol' little Crashmobile toy car? The fenders and roof would fly off when the bumper hit an immovable object. The front bumper on that reminded me decades later of the "slapped on" 5mph bumpers that Detroit was too lazy or cheap to re-design for. This car is a typical example. You can tell the designer did NOT mean for it to have a f'in guard rail pasted on the front. So, I think it would be fun to undo the law and set those bumpers into the body and re-imagine what the original design was supposed to be. Not just this car but the 70s GMs too. Nice job, Bub even if it's a Ford car, lol 👀
Excellent job on the instrument panel / dash board. I like the exterior color choice, but think the black panel lines of the doors and trunk is a bit overdone on that color. When I build mine, I'll be sure to use a lighter gray panel line to tone that down - if I use a light color on the body. Thanks for showing how this kit goes together. It's on my "to buy" list.
Thanks for pointing out the fitment issue of the chassis. I had similar issues with other MPC kits too. They were very loose and wobbly. I had to make mounting system for the chassis to lock it in, so I could make the adjustments to the ride height. Maybe you should add test fitting the chassis to the body in your review part?
Another well done build and video! That review portion when you were curious about that Super Chute thing had me get a LOL here! Sorry I can't say what it's for either. Perhaps someone with original issue kit can help, only other one I have is prior issue and don't think it is in there.
I use Tamiya cement that I put into this needle type dispenser and Mr Hobby liquid quick set. Some superglue from the dollar store. Thank you for watching!!
Also one more question. I’m having a tough time with doing the window trims. I tried using the Moltow chrome pen but it bleeds so much. I haven’t tried bare metal foil yet. I did see that you used a silver sharpie ? Does that work well because it looks really good ? I just started modeling again I finished a 66 Malibu SS it came out okay for a first build but my trim is not the best. I’m working on a 70 road runner now.
