Bit of a taboo subject is digestive issues/piles etc. Us blokes don’t like to share…but suffering in silence ain’t the way forward. Power to you brother!
Love that u did this mate, im amazed how much you already know about it. I suffered for about 5 years with my crohns until i started to actually listen and figure out what is/isnt good for me. And the difference since i have is massive, so i hope with you taking time early doors to study and check what sits well for you that you will keep on top of it. ❤
@tmcycles good luck brother! I was diagnosed 6 years ago when I turned 32 after being completely health ‘normal’ and a healthy person my whole life! Kept silent about it for around 4 years and then got smashed with 2 huge flares! Base line meds failed and now on biologics… I can’t cure it but good diet can help! The key, the key is sleep and stress management! Any issues reach out as I’ve tried it all and you’re new on the UC journey 🤞
This is crazy timing. I’ve got all the symptoms of UC and currently waiting for test results to come back. These issues are completely at odds with people who train a lot and therefore need to intake a lot of food. Taking a lot of inspiration from your approach to this and the way you do things in general .
I am due a colonoscopy in the next couple of weeks as I think I’ve got stomach issues that sound similar to yours. Dreading it but every cloud has a silver lining in the quest for restorative health. Thanks for sharing, I don’t feel as alone with my stomach problems
28 here, suffered with gut issues all my life. Really good to have someone that talks openly about them and offers advice aswell. Keep up the work “normalising” this kind of stuff mate.
Love the positivity TMC . Men’s let’s dive in. I’ve just discovered I have Diastasis Recti more commonly after pregnancy but common amongst men who knew don’t neglect that transverse guys.
Love this mate. been suffering with gut issues for about 8 years now so could relate to a lot of this. would be interesting to hear your diagnosis and story so far in terms of ur IBD.
I have a lot of faith you'll find relief from UC. I was diagnosed with a bad autoimmune disease when I was a kid. Never really exercised or paid any attention to what I ate until my mid 20s. The last three years I focused on exercise and food and am now completely off medicine feeling the best I ever have. I'm a big believer in organic food too. Love your content man. Good luck on the journey. I think you'll help a lot of other people out with this content 💪
I turned 30 this year and for the past 3 months I've basically had the constant urge to go for a piss and a bit of pain down there too, even when I've just been. Had some tests in the first month and all came up clear. I feel your pain with all this stuff going on inside us and having to adopt what we put in ourselves. Its a battle we're going to face but as long as we act on this info and dont reject our bodies and constantly abuse them our daily quality of life will be better and thats the motiviation we use to keep us going.
@@scotreid5193 thanks for the suggestion. I do take 200% of vitamin d in supplements everyday and do get outside in the sunlight as often as I can. At the moment it looks like I can't drink anything heavily carbonated. Pepsi Max and irn bru are extremely bad. I've gone down to 1 liter of water a day to try and help. It's better but still there.
Stay strong brother, I know someone who managed to put crohns into remission solely through diet / lifestyle choices interesting to see what you're doing to improve symptoms.
Cheers for this Tom, going through similar discomfort with suspected GI/IBD issues myself and waiting endlessly for answers. No certified result with all tests coming back clear so far but when you know somethings up, you know. Appreciate the tips and tricks, proper helpful when alls been diagnosed.
Have been following on YT/IG and cannot recommend enough trying out a food intolerance test (I did one called a York test) and it tests your blood against about 300 foods with a chart saying exactly which foods you are very intolerant to and should definitely avoid (red) and others you should try to avoid (yellow). Dairy, eggs, gluten, soy etc all came up for me and once I cut them out, this had crazy effects on my gut health, digestion, skin, fatigue etc. Everyone in my family also did the test and felt the same benefits. Obviously not ideal food-wise as who doesn't enjoy bread, eggs etc but loads of vegan and gluten-free alternatives out there now. Can't help but think cutting out all dairy, eggs and gluten may help you too (obvs dependent on your own test results). Didn't realise before but whey, eggs and gluten were ruining digestion and energy levels on a daily basis. Sharing as this changed my health and digestion completely and have never looked back - stuck to it for about 6 years now (with the very odd cheat here and there to keep my sanity).
Bro I’ve had it for about 6 years and you can absolutely still live a normal life. Tips I’ve learned while controlling this shit naturally with no meds, gotta move and get outside everyday, loads of sleep as much as you can, lowish fat diet and stick to foods you know your body likes, boring is better. Also as much sunlight as you can mate, luckily it’s summer right now, but sunbeds also really help me with this, I’d love you have a chat bro I’ve learnt so much over the past few years
Mate I was diagnosed in 2011 and live with it pretty well, happy to chat through some things I do with you, I’m only half way through the vid but one thing I would be careful of is the amount of sugar your eating, Frosties are terrible and a lot of colitis can be exacerbated by Candida which feeds on sugar, you given me some more good ideas to implement bro Thankyou
That mindfulness "today is going to be a good day" contrasted against Aurelius' pessimistic premeditation ("everyone will be rude to me today" etc) shows nicely the potential tail-chasing dogmatism can produce. I'm thinking especially of the neolib neo-Stoic crowd; Mr Holiday types are salesman first, guru second. Lovely video as always
Helpful video mate, stress is definitely massive in relation to gut health I find a 45min walk after work with either a chill out progressive trance/ house mix or a mindful podcast has definitely helped myself , have you had any issues with dairy?
Suffered with IBS for years. Tried Symprove and numerous diets. Nothing really helped. Been on a Carnivore diet for 3 months. Lost 3 stone and IBS has completely disappeared. Skin complaints and joint pains have gone too. Dr Shawn Baker is onto something
Try supplement of Omega 3 Oil capsules - I have had UC for many years, keto diet worked, vegan and vegetarian diet made UC worse - but everyone is different, you just have to find out what works for you -
This is such a good video mate! As someone’s that’s had crohn’s for coming up on 15 years, your advice is so spot on, especially in regard to there being no set rule on diet and/or supplements. Whilst I appreciate its not the same compounds, I was prescribed steroids for years but it’s a bit like a plaster on the hull of a sinking ship. I wonder if the anabolics masked your symptoms and you’ve actually had this going on in the background for a while? Would also be interested in knowing your thoughts on more specialist coaching toward IBD/S individuals
My issues started when I came off and my mate had the same but deffo could be a coincidence! Had a sigmoidoscopy and doctors say nothing they can see. Feel like I’m being put off by the docs because of my age tho. Get a good couple of weeks and then stuff flares up. I’ll try some of these tips! Thank you 🙏
I had bad IBS early on in the year and all of a sudden it disappeared. I heard a study that bowel disorders are on the rise, particularly post pan demic. Was the worst random pain... seemingly kicked in 2 mins after leaving the house. I wonder if psychology plays a part too
Back in 2019 whilst dieting I was nailing the yohimbine HCL & black coffee upon wake prior to faster cardio. 3 months in my gut was in pieces & my ESR & CRP were sky high and fecal calprotectin was high too indicative of possible IBD. I stopped taking the yohimbine and 6 weeks later by the time I saw Gastroenterology and had further tests the results were back to normal. Like you say in the video, hard to say if it is the cause but I’m hearing more and more stories of which are similar… 👍🏽
Hi tom, I commented on your video a while back saying I’ve lost 30kg since watching you. You’ve really helped me in a lot of ways, in my life and my mentality. I have no social media but Is there anyway I could contact you for a chat?
Understand you said that Jasmine rice doesn’t affect you but I cut rice and pasta as a carb source and put in baked potato instead, fibre from the skin is great and noticed big reduction in symptoms (chronic hives).
Yes tom... how do you think the bodybuilding lifestyle e.g repetitive diet macros and steriods and supplements etc have contributed to this gut ibd condition? Get the video up son and give us a shout out. Trying to get my second dedicated video from the big man!
Inspiring to see how you're handling this bro. I had a bad diagnosis a few months back and have been wallowing in self pity. Starting to take care of myself now though. I have a couple of questions: 1) Have you considered a full carnivore diet for a while to see if your digestive issues improve? Basically complete elimination diet. 2) Have you considered the heavy metals in the fish you are eating? 3) Have you considered a long term fast (like 2 days plus) to try to help your gut? I saw you by Mambo Bar in Ibiza and pussied out of saying hi, I should have... Anyway much love
I know I should have, you were with a big group, I was with my family and I pussied out. Ah well. Next time! I don't think carnivore diets are good long term, but I've read countless reports from people with other UC and other inflammatory bowl diseases who find their symptoms improve, or, in the case of non-chronic IBDs disappear completely. It seems to help by reducing inflammation; like you find with broccoli, a lot of veg is not well tolerated and that is inflammatory. So carnivore is basically an extreme elimination diet. I do appreciate that different people tolerate different things, but carnivore is the easiest route to cutting out everything that could be causing inflammation because meat is generally very well tolerated. Carnivore diets are missing vit C but that can be added easily with whichever fruit you tolerate best. Straight up carni is also super expensive and boring, but in the short-term, I think it removes inflammatory foods and allows the gut to heal (same as why I think fasting helps people, ofc that's less sustainable though). I also personally wouldn't want to train like you do on carnivore, I would want the carbs. It's just an idea, I know you're probably getting advice from everyone right now. My mum is a nutritionist and I've been interested in this stuff from a young age. I think diet is ultimately a personal journey where you try a bunch of stuff and see what suits you best, I've tried all of it over the years incl vegetarian. I've sort of settled on animal based plus fruit, dairy and low GI impact vegetables. Learned a lot from you over the yrs so thanks! @@TMCycles
Man my gut is all over the place and have been trying everything to fix it myself for years and even gone to different experts but they are all so lame and just lazily conduct bullshit test and say it’s fine. It’s not, I can see and tell. What do you recommend I do? I know something is off, and I’m not that stressed anymore. I do all the basics pretty well (sun, walking, sleep, training, grounding, diet). Ps. Was that walk in Guildford up the hill? I’ve been there recently. X
@TMCycles I appreciate that, but you could probably find an organic one to do the same. If it's something regular in your diet, regular consumption of Glyphosate probably isn't a good idea. Oats are heavily sprayed to dry the crop. Who knows if that might hinder your progress in healing your microbiome

Hi Tom. I have UC and had an ileostomy last September to have my large intestine removed and a stoma put in. What medication have you been prescribed? Hope you don’t end up in my situation as having a stoma has been the hardest thing I’ve ever had to deal with coming from a competitive mens physique background.
Sorry to hear that mate, I hope normal life has somewhat resumed. I was put on meslamine which was an absolute nightmate, did me worse than good, currently on no-meds and just leveraging with nutrition
@@TMCycles yeah to a degree mate…not sh*tting myself 20x a day so that’s something! I’m glad you have the opportunity to try and heal and wish you every success in doing so. I was told aloe Vera juice was a good addition. Unfortunately mine was an emergency case. Competed at FitX 20/8 and by 24/9 I was having surgery. Madness.
I’ve never heard of London people drinking tap water🤮.. when I’m down south I’m scared to even wash my face with it. Definitely a good choice to stop drinking it. Bottled or boiled tap water only!
Drinking bottled water ain’t going to do you any good, buy yourself a distiller and make sure you add the minerals back in the water via an electrolyte product.
I think steroid use has a lot to do with my digestive problems and arthritis. Since I stopped a 1 year cruise dose my digestive problems and back and neck problems have gotten a lot worse
@@TMCycles just do a search on you tube for ‘bottled water particle test’ and see what crap is in there - what you want is pure distilled water, then you can add the minerals back into it.
What foods do you find trigger your symptoms the most ? Are you finding fats and proteins hard to digest ? I would feel so weak on an eggs and fish diet, it just doesn't have any kick in it for me- always opt for chicken.
2 pints guiness a night son high fiber amazing for your cholesterol high in niacin too ooo and low in calories and also also big antioxidant and wow it has 4% alcohol who gives a shit when we r banging in gear made by a rat in a bath tub I expect. Sorted my guts out son that morning 💩 is the one
