I’ve also had IBS-D for 10 years. It hit me when I was 17, now 28. I avoid caffeine, chocolate, coffee (even decaf) , sodas, fried foods, gum, soups, and most vegetables and fruits except for lettuce, cucumbers, and bananas.

I feel your pain, I’ve had IBS for 21 years. I get all the other symptoms too, tiredness, anxiety etc. Anxiety is a massive trigger for me, it started after a very stressful time in my 20’s. Summer is my fav season too but my gut likes cold weather, hates the heat (except for my trusty hot water bottle!). I’m now 47 and perimenopausal and boy! Those hormones are no of friend of IBS! Non sufferers don’t always understand too well, it is a bit like wading through concrete some days.

I have sever ibs for 2 years, my symptoms doesn't go away and it has been with me each day. I tried everything from being lactose and gluten free, following the fodmap diet, taking probiotics, fiber supplements, meditation and exercise, taking drugs as laxative and antispasmodic and NOTHING helped at all. Till one doctor prescribed me amitriptyline which is a tricyclic antidepressants 50 mg each day at bedtime and seriously everything changed i am free of all the symptoms and i can literally eat anything even spicy foods. So please talk with your doctor FIRST and ask them about this drug. It was a miracle for me that's why i wanted to share my story. Stay strong everyone 💪

Thank you for sharing your own experience and thank you for sharing all of your recipes! I have grown to love your channel and have tried a few of your recipes now. I have not been "definitively" diagnosed yet with IBS, but I have gone through a multitude of tests and am currently taking medication for it. I also have upper GI issues. Its been a nightmare to say the least. It only began in January for me. I can completely relate to all of your symptoms including the constipation, brain fog, and pain in your muscles and/or knees. Its been the most challenging experience in my life thus far. That being said I am a firefighter/emt and also a nursing student. I have not been able to have any garlic or onion at all yet. I can't have garlic infused oil either. I am also now gluten free and have to have minimal to no dairy. Its been such a challenge for me but I am adapting as best I can. That being said I just want to say thank you again for sharing your story and being authentic to your viewers such as myself who are still so new to this. Your recipes and story have encouraged me to keep trying and that I am not alone. I wish you the best of luck as you continue your IBS journey. Some one once told me that in your harshest moments their are usually the best moments that follow. I hope that will be the same for you!

Thanks Becky for sharing your experience with ibs. I do feel for you because it can be so debilitating. I suffer myself with it myself. Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason to it. I can sometimes eat something really spicy etc and be fine then other times I can have a glass of water and be cramping so much. It's a strange thing. Thanks again for sharing x

I just discovered your videos and I don’t feel so alone anymore. Your description of how IBS has evolved over the years matches my experience too. Sugar right now is a huge trigger and it’s been hard. My wife had gestational diabetes and I cook at home, and creating a following this diet helped me so much at the time. After baby was born, we tried reintroducing sugar to our diet, and she’s fine but I get very sick.

It’s 2 55 am I am having a massive flare up. Coffee isn’t an issue. I ate an orange and two tangerines in the last two days. I am now in pain. I Have terrible wind. The bloating and pain all night has been terrible..I have suffered this curse since I was 19. I’m 57 now!!! I was going to go to the gym today but I can’t as I haven’t had any sleep and the bloating is debilitating.I will just have to catch up on my sleep today. I keep wanting to go to the toilet for a wee! I have just found out that this can be one of the strange symptoms. But don’t quote me on that. (I just watched another RU-vid video on other strange symptoms of IBS) 😅I have accepted I have this, but when I have flare ups I feel ill. I don’t think the medical professionals take this seriously. I feel so alone. Moral of this story I wish I hadn’t eaten the orange!!!!!😢

ibs is reversible. I have ibs and that condition lead me to a magnesium defiency nobody warn me about that. Magnesium is needed for the body to function correctly. In order to absorb magnesium more efectly you need probiotics like kefir (water or milk kefir) or yogurt. Skiping vegetables is unwise because the only way to obain magnesium is through vegetables. If you are low magnesiun you will more prone to allergies. Magnesium controlls your mood if you are low in magnesium you will be angry and stressed also stress depletes magnesium. White sugar depletes magnesium, the body needs a lot magnesium to process it. IBS is low grade inflamation and that low grade inflamation in the future decades will turn into cancer. Magnesiun is natural antiflamatory. Magnesium defiency is caled the invisible defiency

I feel your pain, I've had IBS for almost 2 years. It has called so many other symptoms, fatigue, anxiety and paranoia. I've had anxiety for my whole life but It triggers the pain a bunch, I can't eat or drink dairy, I can't eat gluten. 2 months after I started getting symptoms I went to the doctors In March 2021 and they didn't do anything, so I went to the doctors In April 2021 and they gave me Famoditine (you can look it up) and It helped SO SO much with my symptoms and acid reflux, once I finished the bottle of Famoditine I started gaining my symptoms again, So this year I bought more Famoditine and It doesn't work anymore. And like you said In the video, the weather triggers flare ups, for instance It has been raining ALL WEEK, and I have been in pain all week. Thanks for making this video, It really comforted me. Thanks.

Hi Becky, love your channel! I was diagnosed with IBS 12 years ago ( I can't believe its been that long!) and while the Low FODMAP diet has helped me, there were definitely other measures I had to take to get me to where I'm at now - which is great! I feel better than I have in years! At my worst though, I was in a tremendous amount of pain EVERYWHERE (bones, muscles, joints, skin, teeth, hair follicles - it was bad), lots of brain fog, fatigue, anxiety/depression, skin and hair problems, etc. They actually diagnosed me with fibromyalgia at one point, which was super defeating because there was no treatment or cure at the time. Things did get worse before they got better, but once I found the Low FODMAP diet things really started to turn around. I also worked to rebalance my gut microbiome, which was totally outta wack, and worked to heal my intestinal lining which was inflamed and permeable. Once I did that, I was pretty much back to normal (I even have normal poos!). I still have minor symptoms during particularly stressful times or when I've eaten something I know I shouldn't have, but it's a far cry from where I started. I'm sorry to hear that you're still having such a rough go of it, and I wish you well during this ongoing journey. I feel like you've probably looked into this stuff already, but I wanted to mention it just in case. Take care.

Hi Becky, I completely understand exactly where you're coming from, I'm over 50 and got diagnosed with celiac disease only a few years ago. Doctors were telling me ALL those years it was IBS until my actual diagnosis. Anyway, my gastroenterologist told me that about 90% of people with celiac are lactose intolerant and that they have symptoms exactly as you are describing. So my question is: have you by any chance been tested for lactose intolerance? If not I would definitely go have the test. I hope everything works out for you. Love from Pensacola, Florida 😊❤

Whasupp man, hope ya doing good! Currently struggling with IBS aswell having symptoms for over the last 5 years. It's getting better slowly. Starting to understand what the potential cause could be after extensive research, which is inflammation that leads to excessive growth of harmful bacteria fungi, parasites. This makes sense to me because of the direct impact bacteria have over your mental and physical health. Check out the latest research on that, aswell as 90% of your '' happiness'' hormones are made in the GUT! Logically the GUT is also the '' organ'' that provides your with energy. So ofc eating most of the food in the supermarket has an effect on your GUT, because most foods in the supermarket are overly processed with sugar, salt, refined grains, conservatives etc...... IBS is just a name that doctors give to your symptoms because they have no explanation. My doctor didn't even ask once about the way i'm living or eating. Anyway what helped for me was a whole plant based, glutenfree, dairyfree, diet. Aswell recommend cutting on the grain intake since the introduction of grain as a stable was basically coming from the BIG food industry giants!! And also try support the growth of beneficial bacteria in your gut, with the use of fermented food like kimchi or kombucha. (especially if ever had antibiotics because they fuck up everything in your gut). See your gut more like an ecosystem like a forest and depending on what food you eat the ecosystem in your body grows in a certain way! There are more bacteria in your body than human cells, crazy stuff! Also check out Cellery juice (from anthony williams) as potential healing tool instead of all the medicine crap that big pharma companies want to give us to make money. Hope you can start your healing journey soon man. Spread the message. Don't give up!!🤙✌

ibs can lead to magnesiun defiency. I also have ibs and that gut disease lead me to magnesium defiency. IBS is reversible (magnesiun is needed for the body to function correctly) in order to absorb magnesium and other minerals more effiencienly you need probiotics like (kefir (water or milk, yogurt, combucha) ibs is low grade inflamation and low grade inflamation someday in the future decades will turn into cancer. Skiping vegetals is big mistake because the only way to obtain magnesium is through vegetables. Its reversible dude you need to be proactive in UK the food is depleted in minerals that explains cancer cases in young people. In order to process sugar the body uses a lot of magnesium refined food is bad becase that it does not provide any magnesiun whatsoever. You can load yourself with magnesium with fruits nuts also bone brot, blackstrap molases. brown sugar is healthy than white. You are not gong to wan to feel you brain swell due magnesium defiency i'm warning you.

I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease 10 years ago and my story is very similar to yours. Before going completely gluten free, despite being very bloated, I barely had digestive symptoms. I have IBS D around 10yrs now and can very well connect. Also got migraine since childhood which can be pretty bad too but currently IBS is a bigger problem for me. Some IBS patients may have symptoms of fibromyalgia such as muscle pain, these three conditions probably have a common root cause CSS - Central Sensitivity Syndrome.

Born with colic and 60 yrs later still have IBS. It doesn't go away, you learn to live with it, and adjust. In my 60 years the food through GMO changes means thing that never bothered me, may do now. The most helpful thing I've found? Intermittent fasting, eating 2 small meals per day, increasing water intake. If I'm going to eat a questionable food for me I make sure it's when I have nothing planned for the evening. Sometimes I find I can add a food back.

I understand all this. You’re wonderful talking about this. I too have had digestive issues most of my life. Do you have a SIBO? Could it be bile salt malabsorption? ( I have this but it gives me diarrhoea and fatigue). The fatigue is awful and creates a blanket lethargy....others will understand. Lots of love xxx Ordered your book for my “treat yourself” gift xxx I get a B12 injection because I can’t absorb it, I take evening primrose for hormones and take electrolytes so I don’t dehydrate. One of the things that have eased the symptoms quite a lot specially the bloating and constipation is doing intermittent fasting. Started gradually with short periods of fasting and now doing 16/8 is working really well and just getting hydrated since waking up in the morning until eating the first meal at 12 noon is a great way to re set the digestive system and get everything flowing and moving inside the stomach. Also very important and beneficial is to practise meditation and if you can also exercise even better. The brain is connected to our gut and everything we think we feel it with our stomach so worth to check it out first, see what this stuff is all about before giving it a try. But might be very very good ;)

I’m curious how many of you have tried vsl3 or Visbiome probiotics? I did six months straight alternating both of them about 2 years ago and I have t had ibs since. Before that I was going to the bathroom 4-5 x a day, constant spasms through my gut. Had to take 6-12 immodiums per day to leave the house Also, how many of you took accutane as a teenager? It destroys stomach bacteria for decades but I was able to fix mine with the vsl3 and visbiome
