I agree especially when it is not like a first wedding. The thing many don't realize is even though many brides say they dreamed of their wedding since they were like 8 or 10, many moms are already planning their daughters weddings from "it's a girl" whether pregnancy or right after birth. One thing that is often suggested is either before your dress appointment set boundaries with your entourage if you know they are opinionated or you truly want to make your own decision, otherwise do not bring these people. I remember I had a sister that had not only expensive tastes but was brutally honest and being on a tight budget and my mom said because she was paying she had final say so knew there was going to be battles so though I wanted my sister there, I chose to just take my mom and brought my sister to help make other wedding decisions. My sister the only other girl had eloped years earlier so my mom was denied that mother of bride moment which did I feel affect them. When we did our renewel, it was all me. As a mom myself I can understand more those moms of brides especially when I did some wedding planning. I think sometimes they need a bit of "hand holding" through the process as much as brides. I was just glad to see this mom wasn't like many I have experienced that shot down the having an actual wedding gown again for a 3rd wedding. This one was just was looking at it being a new start and should not be like the others before.

100%. My daughter got married recently and I was hyper-aware of keeping the focus on her, what she liked, what she wanted, and how she felt. Mums can quickly ruin a dress shopping experience if they're not careful. My dress shopping experience was not awesome. I avoid thinking about it.

I think it's because it's such a small boutique, and it's when the bride and their entourage get to rack browse without them hovering.
