I’m tired of people saying they are brutally honest but it’s really saying they are selfish, insensitive, and a bully.

The mother who called her daughter a hippo is really criticizing herself through projection. Very unnecessarily cruel because she hates herself.

Narcissistic, self-loathing mother cruelly taking her daughter down as she feeds on other people's pain. Disgusting. Revolting parent.

Leah's mum is a bully. She needs to calm down and realize what she says affects Leah's confidence.

Im 66 and I can still hear my mom say, "You have such a pretty face, if only you'd lose weight!" This mom is hurting her daughter and for what purpose? To make mom feel better about herself!? She's got nothing to talk about. Her daughters are gorgeous!!

I really hate people that say “brutally honest that’s just the way I am.” No, you can change that lol. There’s a difference between being honest to your loved ones and being a bully.

There is a difference between outspoken and rude. The mother has issues and is making her daughter suffer because of it.

I’ve always been chubby and my mom would NEVER say anything disparaging about my weight. She has always told me I was beautiful. I am so thankful to have a kind, gentle mother. And I have always tried to be gentle with other people’s feelings too, as a result.

Those mother’s comments have more to do with her insecurities and the importance to be funny rather than supporting her daughter.

My advice to the groom of the first bride, immediately move at least 9 hours drive away from that toxic MIL. I’ll also bet money that she does lose weight once they move because she won’t be stress eating anymore. I guarantee, she will also be a toxic grandmother.

Why does it matter what her mom or anyone else thinks? She's the bride.

First off, her mom is awful. Secondly, I really wish we would stop calling overweight people “curvy” as a way to minimize or glorify them being overweight. I’m overweight and we honestly have less curves than thinner people. You can try to make it sound better, but at the end of the day being overweight is extremely unhealthy and harmful and it’s not something we should be normalizing.
