For your viewing pleasure enjoy comprehensive coverage of the Top Fuel Nitro Motorcycle Drag Bike class from the Man Cup at NHRA’s South Georgia Motorsports Park. Here you will see drag racing legend Larry “Spiderman” McBride go after an event win, we also see the “Yellow Bullet” of Dave Vantine lay down a career best 5.74 at 254 mph!
We begin with a highlight from Saturday qualifying as McBride battles class newcomer Mitch Brown of Clearwater, KS. McBride lays down an impressive 5.83 at 250 mph. That pass puts McBride on the pole and sets up a first round matchup with Chris Hand, where McBride would smoke the tire and suffer his first opening-round defeat in more than 20 years. Brown’s 6.38 at 212 mph qualified him in the No. 4 spot and earned him a bye, when his scheduled opponent could not make the call.
We then pick things up in the semi finals the next day. It’s No. 2 qualifier Dave Vantine and 2018 series runner up who takes the win over Brown with a jaw-dropping career best 5.74 at 254 mph with a motor borrowed from McBride.
Chris Hand then takes his “Redneck Express” to a 10.52 at 75 mph on his bye run. It was a costly decision as the rider from Nauvoo, Alabama damaged a cylinder head and was unable to make it back up for the final. As I point out in the video, if you would like to help on a Top Fuel team, Hand could use it.
That clears the road for the talented Vantine, owner of Vantine Imaging and Vantine Liquor, to run a 5.93 at 253 mph during his final round bye. The high mph is a measure of the incredible amount of power team Vantine is making with this Top Fuel Nitro Drag Bike.

That’s absolutely incredible they’re running in the five second category at over 250 MPH. I grew up when dragsters we’re trying to get into that category. They had a club called the five second club back then but to see motorcycles doing this it really is absolutely incredible.

To answer questions you are aways asking, yes the blown bikes should run in the class. How ridiculous it would be to ban supercharging in a T/F class. No, i doubt i would try riding one now at age 67. BTW. I would love a couple of CycleDrag stickers. They would adorn my 2 bikes. I would pay a modest amount for them. I guess i should be rechecking if there is an avenue for accessing track side apparel. I must admit, i am very tempted to offer my help to Chris Hand or some other fuel racer in need but i am perhaps a bit old to come in as a green horn.

Jeremy Teasley has been 6.49 on a GSXR 1000. Larry McBride has been 5.61 on his Top Fueler. It's less than a second but once you get own that low, it's an eternity. More room for a larger supercharger, and the straighter exhaust makes more power. These engines push so much exhaust that the tailpipes can actually provide downforce and propulsive force. Rear exhaust design allows using these advantages.

Larry McBride said it's easier access for the pipes and it's better for the supercharger because you force air into it. Elmer Trett DID NOT pioneer the backward mount head . Bo O'brochta on the TERMINAL VAN LINES Top fuel bike was the first to run that set up ! Elmer Trett made it work a whole lot better. Bo himself said the terminal van lines bike was a handful to control ! Don't believe me ? Ask Larry and Steve.

I'm sure the 18 people in the stands were thrilled. Love it but how does this sport stay alive? 90% of the videos I see basically for both bike and car the stands are virtually empty.
