India's Virat Kohli and Murali Vijay starred with the bat but Nathan Lyon won the game with the ball for Australia in an emotional Adelaide Test in 2014
I remember watching this Test live in the living room - had the telly on for hours, I did nothing, didn't even go for a bathroom break! I felt the turning point was the wicket of Murali - had he had gotten the ton, it would have made a huge difference to him and the Indian dressing room. When Haddin stumped Ishant Sharma for the last wicket, I was off my couch and shouting, it was unbelievable! A great Test and one I will never, ever forget.
I was so happy that we're gonna win this deffo with 6 wickets in hands and not much runs to score when second session ended. But that third session was way too careless play from the India. I mean this series was 2 session away from 2-0 defeat to 2-1 series win 😖
Here to watch this test match highlights after Kohli has given up the Indian test captaincy as I feel this was the test match which showed us the character of the leader Virat Kohli and also led to the beginning of sheer dominance by the Indian team in different parts of the world under Kohli's reign.
Different parts of world. Lol what. So u call dribbbling by England, sa nd nz a dominance??? Only won against weakest aussie team ever in cricketing history
India was on the verge of making History had other players hanged around a bit . But still taking nothing away from Australia , they bowled their heart out especially Lyon even after so many bad umpiring decisions. Tbh Australia deserved to win 👍👍
I'm not a big fan of Kohli's attitude but boy, he's graceful to watch! The pulls, drives and sweeps.. After Dravid retired, I didn't think there would be more graceful batter in test cricket!
There was 1 error, that happens all the time, even in todays date, even in a CWC Final. The rest were either spinning too much, umpires call or impact outside. Not every ball that hits the pads is out, and if given not out and provided with umpires call, it isnt an error.
The series where kohli became a legend... Mahi's retirement happened.. and he took it onto him from this series that he sold this idea to his teammates that at any cost.. your mind should be to win and not loose.. the legend of virat kohli.. the best batsman in all 3 formats
India had a decent team before 2011 as well. Tests: Won in NZ in 2009 , won in England in 2007 ,drawn test series in South Africa, lost Australia series 1-2 .
@@sohanpattnaik6164 From 2011 to 2014 India has had terrible overseas performances in tests the only good thing that happened was the Lords test win in 2014 and 2 drawn tests one at Trent Bridge and one at some Basin Reserve or ChristChurch I dont remember .
I never thought we'd lose in the first place but that last day up until tea really got me thinking this match is almost gone and suddenly the ball started doing the trick for us. Kohli is an amazing player Lyon won it for us. Would be great to watch long highlights of the game.
If India allowed DRS then both teams wouldn't have to bear the brunt of bad umpiring. For example that Shikhar Dhawan wicket, was actually not out since it hit his shoulder not to mention, the many times Lyon had batsmen out but the umpire denied any wickets.
And this is where the journey began from a young team to an incredible team which won 2 consecutive test series in Australia plus 5 test maces and on the verge of the 6th one as well!!
Great test match. Love the way Kohli and India went for the win instead of playing out the draw - full credit to them for making a game of it and nearly pulling it off
*How close we were to victory, but let us not forget how Virat Kohli has fought in this match💪💪 . Murali Vijay also played very important innings in that match. I feel sad to see these two Test matches of Adelaide 2014-15 and Edgbaston of 2018, how close we were to victory 😭😭 But what to do, cricket is something like this, it is not known till the end Who Will Win*
Lyon casually had them dead in front 5 times not given before lunch. Legit disgraceful umpiring, feeling the pressure from the Indian Cricket Board IMO
@Bobs Ssj That was pretty much visible I guess. When Punter signals for out the umpire was happily following the same, so there is no argument required in this at all
As a Pakistani and of course I was supporting Australia to win against India but that was one of the greatest knock I've ever seen from kohli.. Magical knock
@@jamespeacock7517 Yea with Net bowlers. Your newspapers and media tell the world that you were embarrassed. EMBARASSED and HUMBLED. That's not annihilation, true that you duffer. You're suffering from third degree burns I reckon.
It was proved way back in 2014 that Noshit Sharma was unfit for Test Cricket outside India ,still he is being selected due to his performance in India. Back rubbing goes a long way.
Innings started at 5:30 or 6:00 AM IST. I watched Pujara get out, but was hoping Virat and Someone else partners up and at least salvage a draw or a miracle 5th day chase. I came back from Morning Classes at 10-11 AM and India was 9 down, and everything was over. I was extremely heartbroken, so close to a miracle victory after being 520 dec. 😢
Even though India lost that match, but Kolhi impressed everyone with his performance especially from Captain's point of view & proved that a new leader is born to take India to a greater heights. He showed that India isn't here to draw the game but to win it. Win or loss doesn't matter but Kolhi's men proved what they are capable of....
This Consistent Murali Vijay in 2014 in Aus & Eng was a great Asset, got out on 99 & now in 2020 struggling for CSK in First Three Matches. Actually his struggle started from Saf Tour of 2018, continued till Eng Tour 2018 & Finally culminated at Perth (2nd Test) Aus 2018.
Seeing how well Lyon bowled here, it’s staggering how he prefers to bowl around the wicket to right-handers. He looked threatening, like every ball was gonna get a wicket. Yet around the wicket to right-handers, he takes out so many modes of dismissal
What an innings by Virat Kohli! Even when the draw was the easy option he went for the win and was very unlucky in the end. Great fight by India. 👏 👏 🇮🇳
How time badly goes. Muruli Vijay one of the consistent performer at test in top order, that too away series, but now no body suggest him to select to squad.
First test under Kohli captaincy, India chose go for the win, chasing 364 on a day 5 pitch with Nathan Lyon in full form. India almost got there. Kohli did not shut shop and defend even after losing Rohit Sharma. He kept going for glory.
Murali Vijay was like ....Bakre ki Maa kab Tak Khair Manaiyegii....Even after Plenty of poor Umpiring decisions but then also could not score Hundred...
Just got to see most of the Aussies crying about the umpiring decision. Apart from murli vijay's decision, others r well and good. It wad one of the best test matches to witness. Especially the rise of kohli 💪
No I am not ashamed to support aussie clearly there was umpiring error in the match nd that's the truth nd there's nothing to be ashamed of supporting the truth
We lucky we loose this match... This match show our character. Now onwards you need see 2018, 2020 results. Now India always first looking for win test series rather than Draw.
