I have had way too many stresses that resulted from a single catastrophic moment in my life that occured over two decades ago that continue to multiply to this day, so I know what you mean. I am surprised that it does not show worse than it does in my appearance, but it is bad enough. I do not begrudge anyone of their material blessings or their experiences, but financial freedom really can eliminate the stress of a lot of problems, which makes it far easier to focus upon and cope with the rest of life's challenges with far less stress than those who live on modest incomes.

Gosh there’s still good people here. Just stay away from Long Beach, Venice Beach and L.A. itself along with neighboring cities. I’m in SoCal 30 miles east and it’s not even close to out there. It’s not at all liberal or crazy. Majority here are still good people. San Diego area is a good place too. Sure there’s places in the state that are awful but it doesn’t mean the entire state is terrible. San Francisco and Sacramento are probably places to think twice about but honestly the good still exists.

Do you live in California or have you been to the majority of the state lately? California has more than just Los Angeles and Hollywood. Even more than just San Francisco/Oakland and Sacramento. Which I’ve been to all four cities, even served in the mission field in the heart of the Tenderloin of San Francisco and even there, good was happening. Every Sunday they host a church service in the middle of the street of SF worst neighborhood and it has blossomed into an incredible community. Even if it’s small, it’s still a start. Honestly the state majority is no worse than other places in this country overall. It has parts that are no good. I’m tired of people who only focus on what is bad and never really stop and think about what’s good. There’s no chance of change if everyone has the mindset to run when it gets bad.

LA is... Weird. I lived there for a few months in 2012, and I also worked in SF for awhile too. It was expensive and miserable and even back then the city of SF smelled like human feces. It was not enjoyable being at a fancy restaurant eating dinner next to a refined English couple from the UK outdoors while smelling poop in the air.

I left 13 years ago. I'm so thankful! I wish all my family would also leave. My cousin got shot there two days ago. My brother was shot over a decade ago. And my other brother was killed there, in 2016 (also shot). I know no place is perfect, but some places are better than others.
