I edited out some sections where I was doing the same thing on both sides where I could for time. Feel free to comment with any questions regarding the specifics of the install...I'll smooth out anything I glanced over. 👍
Not trying to knock your video, or HRS, but both are wrong when it comes to this installation. Those wires need to be fed through the robber boot where the tail light wires go through, into the body of the trunk and up into the factory rubber boot connecting the hatch to the body of the car. This can be done simply with a coat hanger. I should know because I did it with my rear security camera and im about to do it again when my HRS tail lights get here tomorrow. I understand this was on the fly but when it comes to a Type R...bro...do it right the first time. I say that to HRS as well. And what I find funny is HRS gives you enough wire to follow the factory route. This way you wont have to worry about leaks at all and it will look factory and not have yet another rubber boot going down from the middle of your hatch. At LEAST you used the rubber grommet that was already on the hatch unlike HRS. If anyone wants to take the easy route like this then I would combine using the rubber wire boot like HRS "if you can find one" and the utilize the rubber grommet like MotoRX. Good vid though.
Thank you! 👍 I appreciate you watching. I'll have to look into following the factory route. Was just going about it the way HRS said, as you mentioned. 😅
TURNING THE ANIMATION ON & OFF: To Turn OFF: Completely shut off everything including all lights Press and hold brakes Turn ON/OFF lights 3 times - make sure you start from OFF sequence Release brakes after 5 seconds To Turn ON: Completely shut off everything including all lights Press and hold brakes Turn ON/OFF lights 4 times - make sure you start from OFF sequence Release brakes after 5 seconds This process will turn ON/OFF animation.
Try setting your lights to Auto so that they come on when you unlock the car. The animation will only run when the Tail Lamps come on, which is only when the headlights are on.
Are yours made in China? Cause my jdm mugen tail lights kits is made in China which I bought from eBay. The wires harness setup is a little different from what everyone is getting the jdm mugen tail lights installed on. Or is it just that the automatic Honda Civic Hatchback EX lights wires harness are so different from the manual Honda Civic Hatchback EX or Civic Type R? Are there any difference between The both of them in plug and play wires setup from the assembly line at Honda manufacturer company?
@@MotoRX1 I'm going to try his troubleshooting methods tomorrow or whenever I have time for flipping the metal on the plug adapter and plug it back into the other plug and test it out if that fixes it. I found this video and going to try it out if it fixes my mugen tail lights for my Honda Civic Hatchback EX 2017. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ufhmJoSaG90.html
@@MotoRX1 ah I see. I'll try it later tomorrow or whenever. If that also fixes it. Everything else works fine. It's just that sequence red lights doesn't work or lights up like yours when I unlock the car before I even touch the handle probably the red and black wires metal clips are on the wrong side. I'll try testing it out later if that solves it.
There is also a sequence to turn the light display function on and off. If you go to the product description on the HiRev website I think it tells you the sequence to activate the display.
I know! The install finished so late! If you check out my next video, I do a full function test and side by side comparison to stock lamps w/ LED bulbs. Check it out! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o1LvtefAlbs.html
No. They look really good with the white. Makes them appear darker. And there is no issue with the smoke and brightness of light. You would be pleased. 👍
Ummm HRS has the official installation video posted and you don’t use hard plastic flex loom and wrap with that kind of tape. You use rubber flex loom. Good luck with leaks. Here’s official installation ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NIwsrzcrXIQ.html
Thanks for watching! My aim in my install videos is not to try and do it better than the manufacturer. In fact, I was following the HRS official video to do this install 🤣. My hope is to clarify any of those places where the official instructional is vague. Like when instructions says "remove trim", you see 1 second of a piece of plastic coming off, then they move to the next step. I want to show you how the pieces come apart. I want to show you what it would be like installing this in your driveway, vs a clean shop studio for controlled video filming. You should consider subscribing. I love talking about cars!
Also...they tell you to use the rubber loom, but if you watch my unboxing video.... they don't give you one.... and they don't tell you where to get it... this was my on-the-fly solution.
