Could not have said it any better. 20 years of blood sweat tears and a remarkable display of will all encapsulated in 7 minutes of nonstop war. Beautiful. Hope you’ve been well since writing this comment.
The difference between this year and last year for Dake is amazing. He went after Jordan instead of trying to catching him and not move as much. Congrats Dake win us gold
That last move was a blown call. You can't give 2 points for a near fall to your opponent if you are the aggressor. Dake should have been given 1 point and tied the score.
@10:09 when Dake goes for the lift and Jordan slows him on the attempt, I think the rules in wrestling should be changed to only give 2 points to a person who initiates the move/throw, for back exposure or in this case if Burroughs is able to establish clear control.....I don't think it helps the action of the sport of wrestling to give points to your opponent in response to slight defensive efforts such as in this example.
I didn't understood that 2 points. As you say, Dake "exposed himself", and Jordan was unable to maintain top position for a second. What criteria is needed to be awarded those 2 points? Just a slight lose of control on Dake's part? Jordan needs to do something? I'm somewhat new to the sport and don't understand all the nuances yet
That was way more than slight defense buddy . That was incredible defense and control to reverse dakes move and use it against him . If this was college dake would have been pinned so your logic makes no sense.
Going to have to agree with Brick Squad, that wasn't "slight defensive efforts" - no offense, but if you had experience in wrestling you would know how ridiculously skilled and athletic it was of Burroughs to defend that and reverse it into a scoring position (exposure) for himself. This is coming from a Kyle Dake fan, you have to give it to Burroughs. This isn't Judo, you are not given criteria for initiating a throw. You have to control the person to the end of the control sequence to score. Off topic but, this is one aspect of wrestling that makes it translate well to MMA versus Judo.
He was engaged but idk it really is a hard call to make he was half engaged and taking half shots, he never got to the legs. Questionable but a great match out of these two.
YOOOOOO!!!! I should have LIVESTREAMED my reaction to that end sequence!!!!! I was holding my newborn baby and scared the shit outta her .... I thought DAKE DID IT!!!!!! Holy shit though did Burrough's slay that defense though!!!!
@Brian Neary that's not how you agree with a question. Maybe try saying "yeah when is match 3?" but saying "no doubt" makes no fucking sense. Its like if someone asked what time it is and you replied with no doubt.
@@omgitsjoetime Ok yeah so I thought Dake did score a takedown to get to 5 that was taken away after the challenge and I don't think he should've gone on the shot clock in the prior period for passivity. I also thought Dake scored a takedown at the end that he didn't get credit for. It was a very close match that just happened to go Burroughs way and actually think he was out-wrestled by Dake for the majority of the match. Again, very close match in which all the close calls went Burroughs way and ended with him winning.
Burroughs shattered ankle while training in a strange gym definitely took a huge toll on his speed. He has owned Dake for a decade. You can't tell me that Dake improved enough to beat Burroughs. Obviously patience pays off. Sooner or later the champ will slip, the king will stumble. You can tell Burroughs was way off in these matches. Then Dake gets to Tokyo only to get teched 11-0?!?!?! WOW!
The officiating is so questionable here. Im sorry, but boroughs wasn't even setting up technique, he was just slapping to the face and trying to sneak shots in. foul man.
Great match. Not wild about the scoring of those last few seconds though. Dake had JB in big trouble and nearly suplexes him but somehow JB is the one who comes out with points - even when he was in a very bad spot. Just goes to show you how truly great JB is. Not many guys could do that.
DT hasn't even made an Olympic team yet let alone win gold so their is a long, long list ahead of him right night for the best ever. Current wrestlers better than him, Jordan Burroughs, Kyle Snyder, J'Den Cox, Kyle Dake.
