"Brain Damage" is the ninth track from English rock band Pink Floyd's 1973 album The Dark Side of the Moon. It was sung on record by Roger Waters (with harmonies by David Gilmour), who would continue to sing it on his solo tours.
Written by : Roger Waters

Richard Wright - Hammond organ, VCS3 synthesizer

The uncredited manic laughter is that of Pink Floyd's then-road manager, Peter Watts.

Another brilliant video. Occasionally I feel like I’m going to drop a few tears of joy when this album finishes, it’s just that good.

Sorry..had to wipe mine away to read your comment. My big brother brought this home the day it dropped back in 73. I was 8 year old the first time we listened to it end to end. Still hits me the way it did that first time.

Eclipse as the end of the album always gets me. Always. Especially the close with the incredible sound of the organ

Some people may find this morbid, but hey I'm about to turn 52 in a couple weeks and I have a young daughter. So yeah I've got a list going of songs I'd like played at my funeral. Brain damage/eclipse is definitely on the list

It’s great to get immersed in the music but it seems a few aren’t even paying attention to the lyrics so you’re missing half of the experience

I love your videos. It's awesome to watch y'all when you do Pink Floyd. I always say there is music, there are many genres of music, and then there's Pink Floyd. They composed the music in movements. You have to listen to the entire album to get a better understanding. I saw a laser light show years ago to Pink Floyd's The Wall. Simply amazing, like an out-of-body experience.

Great video thnx. It's nice to watch peoples experience of listening for the first time as sometimes we can forget what it was like for ourselves. Personally I was too young at the time as I was 9/10 years old when I first started to listen to Pink Floyd and too young to appreciate Roger's lyrics but as you get older the songs take on a different meaning.

These tracks affect everyone differently, however what typically happens is when you get older the tracks become stronger and even more enjoyable and are very often relatable. Cheers!

Was it August of 2017, when we had the chance to see that total solar eclipse in the U.S.? I wanted to put myself in the path of it, but it would have required about a 400 mile drive north of where I live. But I remember thinking it would be cool to listen to Eclipse DURING it. The length of the song matched the actual event.

Shout out to all the people who were twenty-somethings in the 90's, who were working as restaurant dishwashers on the 10pm to 6am shift, and who would hear this song on local classic rock stations, and especially if it was a Saturday night. I realize shoutouts are lame but I feel like there are other people who were in that same situation, and regularly experienced this song in that very narrow Venn diagram

The voice you hear saying “there is no dark side of the moon, it’s all dark”. That is Syd Barrett who came to the studio and was caught on an open mic.

Not one person let the song play to the very end. The last thing that was said at the end was: "There is no dark side of the moon, really. Matter of fact, it's all dark." Too bad ya'll couldn't wait till the album was completely over. By the way, the man's name was Syd Barrett, and he was Schizophrenic and he did too much acid. Yeah, been there, done that...the whole state hospital experience. That's what Brain Damage is describing.
