Know how you're getting old? HeartGold and SoulSilver will be five years old November. On the same day, the original Gold and Silver will be FIFTEEN years old.

It's crazy that the original game came out a little over 20 years ago. I'll never forget that Christmas morning back in 2000 (a year after it came out). When I opened that red and green present, and first saw that Lugia on the front of the game case, the new silver sparkle and holographic decal on the game cartridge, my eyes glimmered with excitement and my face couldn't contain my grin... At 6 years old, I knew I was about to play the best Pokemon game ever made. If they made a remake of this remake for the Switch, I'd seriously buy a Switch just for that.

listening to this is somewhat nostalgic for me. this was the first pokemon game, and general video game i ever played. my first pokemon was chikorita.

They really put their Heart and Soul into this game.

This is by far my favorite pokemon game. It was an epic journey across two regions from my childhood. I play Heart Gold every summer, but can never go back to other pokemon games after I have beat them once.

As much as it hurts me to say it, I will: Gen 3 will always be my favorite, but Gen 2 will always be the best. And HGSS are by far the greatest Pokemon games ever made.

This was the first pokemon game I played, I still got good memories, about cheating in shit tons of masterballs, and raising a poliwag army. I recently played through the original pokemon gold, and damn was it a good game.

I think literally everyone in this comment feels the excact same emotions when hearing this now. You start to remember what it felt like when you first booted up this game and how simple life was when your biggest goal in life was to beat the elite four. This wasnt just a game. It was a lifelong quest and as a little kid you experienced so much emotion throughout this journey. I remember beating the elite four the first time and how emotional I got. I literally started crying like crazy because it felt like I had achieved my biggest dream. Its truly amazing how big of an impact a video game can have on you when youre a kid. Some of my finest childhood memories are from Heartgold. Such a masterpiece.

The Pokemon series has some of the best music in my opinion. It's so nostalgic, yet so memorable and so good. The battle music still gives me chills, and pumps up my adrenaline after so many years

41:12 although the soundtrack is nice, this towns theme hit me like a truck. I always loved this town. Every little detail about it. The music, the streets, the buildings, the little lake where I used to catch hundreds of poliwags just for fun, the legend of Ho-oh, and finally climbing that damned burned tower and running into what felt like hundreds of Magmars. This town is the reason I love Heart gold AND soul silver, and why Ho-oh is my favourite Pokémon to this very day. May not be revolutionary in its own sense, and it may not be the BEST Pokémon game, but this game made me who I am today.

Here's an idea: instead of re-making the games individually, just make a pokemon version of Super Mario All Stars. Include all of the older games but updated to DS-level graphics: Yellow, FR, LG, AS, OR, DPPt, HG, SS. Allow trading between those games with a Pokemon Box program, and online trading between Pokemon Boxes. Newer games don't get remakes because they're still playable on new 3DS and available for purchase in most stores.

Gen2... Birthplace of some of my most favorite pokemon (Ampharos, Quagsire, Noctowl) Best soundtrack (IMO) and the double region was just... AMAZING! Replayability, hard re-challenges (2nd battle with Lance anyone, and Red?) I can NOT wait for a Gen2 remake! Also, Ho-Oh's battle theme.

i love it how heartgold/soulsilver music begins with a certain tune, and then after 10-15 seconds the remixed part begins. for example national park starts of with a piano tune and then the remixed part begins.

i've played this game when i was real young (like, 2009-ish) and NEVER realized the bicycle theme and goldenrod city are basically the same. mind you that i'm 19 now lol

I got chills from the champion battle theme as a younger child. (and I still do now)

Heart Gold was the first Pokemon game that I played by myself, without my older siblings' help XD I remember I somehow made it to the Elite Four with a lvl 80 something Typhlosion and then 5 other lvl 2 pokemon. When I was 11 or so, I lost it. I left a bag full of DS games on a plane. Never got it back. I'm still searching for a copy of it online rn. And then I'm gonna take a ride on the nostalgia train.

Pokémon HeartGold is my first game I’ve played and my first Pokémon is Totodile. I still have him to this day and he’s a level 100 Feraligatr. We just celebrate our 11 years together and he has been there through everything and he’s my best friend for life
