The reason you may be feeling it to be firm is that Hoka foams are the most temperature-dependent. EVA gets stiff in colder temps. In summer you'd have very different experience.
I started running in May of 2020 and I got my first official running shoes in February on 2021 which were the Clifton 7’s and as much as I’m a new runner I too thought they were pretty much dead at mile 50 and the outsole was ruined, needless to say they’re almost at 600 miles but I won’t be buying any more hoka shoes until the change the foam they’re using.
I have the rincon 2. I used it for my first marathon. I'm not the fastest runner. Took me 6 hrs. But by mile 18 ish my feet were hurting and slowed me down alot. Now I won't go past 10miles with this shoe.. I have 120 miles on my shoe . I've tried ghost...ive tried glycerin . Me and my feet have a hard time finding the right shoe. I tried everything recommended by my local fleet feet .. Currently training for my next marathon and I'm at a lost for my long distance shoe! Love the reviews! They help me out with all the info!
Have you tried the Clifton 8? That has a lot of cushioning, and yet still fairly light. New balance rc elite 2 had an impressive amount of cushion for a race shoe. Only thing I find with the Clifton is that I push north of 600w, so sometimes find myself breaking traction.
@@Huxley555 I tried the clifton 7 in the store. It didn't feel right just from stepping in them ..so I never bought them to try. I may have to try the 8s to see how they feel. I'll have to look into the new balance you mentioned . The shoe store I go to gave me the 880 to try and I didn't like them. That's all the experience I have with new balance. Thanks!
@@michite7435 I was surprised as in the past I too didn't get on with them, after the rc 2 I went ahead and bought the fuelcell rebel V2. new balance fresh foam more v3 would be worth a look, I'm after a cushioned shoe and though the Clifton is good, I find myself wanting more from a daily trainer. New balance can run narrow, but they offer wide fitment in most of their shoes.
Bought 3 pairs of Rincons (2-3). I won't be buying anymore - loved the shoe, but hated the durability and the midsole getting crushed so quickly. Great while it lasted ( about 100 miles), but I'm done with Rincon.
Been running in my rincon 3 for 6 months. Mostly 5km or 10kms. I have never even noticed the tongue on a single run, yet see it as a complaint in every review. Never bothered me :)
I like the Rincon 3. The tongue bothers me initially as I am tying the shoe, but I find a way to ignore it once I get going…. I alternate it in my rotation.
Great minds think alike, I just dropped my review today as well 😂 Fantastic video! It sounds like we are on the same page about this shoe, though I thought it didn’t get compressed as quickly as the other Rincons.
Lovely voice ..like the Rincon but too bad it’s still on the narrow side in the toe box ...along with the short wear and tear around 300 miles, a quick shoe but I prefer the Clifton or Mach 4 ...nice review
The weather this winter seems less runner-friendly than last year. Or maybe that’s my selective memory. Reasonable shoe price but Hoka should consider wider widths. I’ve seen how narrow these shoes are. Can’t imagine even trying them on.
I find EVA, and LightStike get firmer as the temperature goes down. I need to try maybe an ultraboost or zoomx or pwrrun pb or fuelcell, but my shoes are limited for traction in winter.
