As a fellow wood stove nerd I like those air control dials as well. Seems like you could dial the burn in a little easier than just the standard lever type air controls.

It is nicely effective, but it’s the geekiness of them that grabbed me.

Porsche PDK - one modern gearbox with some soul 😂. Nice review, and walk off after baring the rear end for some time 😂

Yea that shot was not ideal, but it was too funny to remove. I’m with you the PDK and a Ferrari 458 are lovely, but my wife’s VW auto is definitely leaves me missing something 😆

@@TheTortoise probably a Porsche or Ferrari by the sounds of it 😂.

Another great video? Where do you install all these stoves ??

The fire box did look quite small for a stove that was more or less a 5kw stove?! Great review guys, the music at the end when Gabe was summing up was very well done 👍🏻

The wood used...? Is it softwood or hardwood in all the tests? Please.

I was looking at the salamander hobbit and wondered if that’s on your radar to test in your upcoming videos , not sure if you only review wood burners if the companies send to you . I liked the burner from Norway I think it’s 602 , but out of my price range , looked to see what’s available and happened to find this company in Devon , thought who better to review this stove called the Hobbit than yourself .
@TheTortoise
@TheTortoise 11 месяцев назад
I have sent them a message recently, as I’m keen to have a look. Sometimes these companies need some encouragement, before trusting me with their pride and joy 😆

@@TheTortoise Thanks for reply , shame really , looked at lots of reviews on different channels can not say they even come close to your reviews, you’re just naturally a real person, the others tend to be acting, obviously they don’t have a fire in their belly, wait did I just do a corny British pun I think i did , let’s hope they change their minds and let you review it , definitely won’t buy it until I see your opinion on it , phoned them last week for details to be sent to me , I found the lady which is also the owner to be extremely charming , you can tell if people are false even on the phone, it’s like you just by your words one can tell you’re real and a charming soul , let’s hope they change their minds and let you have one to review, take care both of you , it’s very good the way your wife asks questions off camera for you then to give your answers, don’t know if that was planned or it just evolved like that but it really is good works well indeed, you know when a send a message it’s whiskey time .

I've had this fire for 6 months now but only start using it over the last few weeks. I'm interested to know if you have found a sweet spot for the secondary air control. The manual does state 50-60% open and I have to say below 60% for me causes excessive smoke from the chimney. Would love to hear about your experience.
@TheTortoise
@TheTortoise 9 месяцев назад
The mistake is closing the stove down with new fuel on the stove. If you allow the fuel to be properly burning, and the majority of moisture and resins to burn off, then when you close it down, you won’t have the same smoking or dirt in the chimney issues.

Hey bud im loving your reviews. Jave you ever tried the wittus shaker. I love the look of it but im not sure on the price. Its about 7000$ us dollars for what seams to be a fairly basic stove. Any thoughts thanks
@TheTortoise

I have seen it burning, but I haven’t used it myself. It’s definitely a stove where look and design was top priority. Like a sports car therefore you’re paying for the look, prestige and exclusivity. Having said that I would still expect it to be a good stove. My guess is like Dik Geurts with lots of their stoves. They’re very design focus and a lot of money, but they’re also very simple wood burners (they also work superbly!). You could look at their stuff as it’s cut from the same cloth, but they tend to be less money, but I expect the Shaker to be a similar stove in many respects. Checkout this review of a DG as these will be similar products: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tbDMZe9Be7Q.htmlsi=Aj8mUSPoLhXQlUXa
