Hey Cesar, how long have you been making 3d art for? This was a cool breakdown video and I like the 3d viewers you have been using.

I have been working on 3D modeling since 2014. I started out in highschool with AutoCad and then got into Maya around 2016. Over all I would say I have been doing 3D modeling for 10 years now and I'm always trying to improve and have fun with it.

I listen to it all man this is so awesome I’m a very passionate artist always wanted to do 3-D art. It was good to hear your perspective. I wish that I could go to the campus because it’s hard to interact with people and it’s cold as questions and get the full immersive buffet.

Thanks for watching, and yeah when covid happened and everything was online for my masters I definitely noticed a difference in interactions and communication. Personally I enjoyed being on campus and was happy when I was able to go back.

Super late but since you've graduated years ago. Did you get any jobs in the game indusrty or did you land any type of job using any of the 3D software you've learned?

Current I'm actually working on a personal game with a small team and if things go well I plan on starting up a small indie studio. I have only had 2 other jobs where I used my 3D skills before moving on to this project. I would say at least for me it can be quite challenging landing a job but it is possible.

This was the only in-depth video I could find for the game art degree at full sail and it helped a lot to see what I would be doing in the program I start on June 26th I honestly was mainly worried about drawing 2d anatomy which I struggle a lot with unfortunately not sure if they go through that as well?

We did draw anatomy when I went there but the focus was more on getting body proportions correct you do more anatomy in zbrush in a later class it's pretty fun it's a whole month dedicated to learning anatomy and zbrush

Thank you for this video! I am curious though, with being in class for 8 hours... will there be homework and such or is almost all the work done in class. I am looking to go to full sail and move, but I'd have to pick up a job while attending class to cover the rent and such.

Most of your work can be done during lab time, but some classes do hand out assignments to do at home. Although most assignments I was given to do at home weren't difficult or too time consuming. If you are looking into the 3D arts programs you should mostly be working on projects over the month. If you are falling behind in lab and need more time you can work at home as well. If you are worried about not having enough time for job work you can call the school and ask about the extended program. If you are able to get into the extended program you only have 1 class a month instead of 2. This would make it so you only go to school 3 times a week I believe. I highly recommend calling the school as they have an amazing team that can help answer a lot of questions. I'm glad the video was able to help out. Hope your able to make it and have an amazing time at the school.

Thank you for this video. I’m currently in computer animation at Full Sail and during TEM class I discovered it would be a better fit for me to be in game arts due to my love of architecture and interior design as well as character animation. I’m very frustrated right now trying to decide if I should change degrees. I’m leaning heavily on game art and if there is a masters program to take after that’s great, because there’s no masters program for computer animation. I was going to go for creative writing for a masters program but I like the path you followed . I’m only in the end week of month 3 so there is nothing different in the courses yet so I won’t be throwing anything off. Did you have to use the GE Raider laptop or did you use the MacBook Pro, I’m very upset about having to go to the GE Raider because I’m totally immersed within the apple environment and paid out of pocket to buy a MacBook Air so I could do my assignments as I only had an iPad to begin with, and nobody told me that I wouldn’t be able to do my work with the iPad. I’m in the online program and have gotten a 4.0 gpa so far and I am giving 40-50 hours a week to my study, I wish I could go on campus but I live in Texas and I own my house so I don’t want to move. Do you think game arts will be a good fit for me? Or should I stay in computer animation.?

Sorry for the late reply, but I am not 100% sure what paths creative writing or computer animation go into. I do know that game art goes into animation, character creation, props, and environments. Later in the program you can choose to focus on one of these masteries. I got a Macbook pro of the year back when I started but they are always upgrading the laptops from what I hear. As for a masters I don't think they have one for 3d arts. I went to game design for my masters where I learned alot about working almost any position in a game studio and it was fun. Computer animation may have environment creation as well but I honestly don't know. You could ask around and try to talk to another student who is further ahead. Personally for 3D I think game art teaches a lot of everything when it comes to 3d. With the exception of rigging, if you want to learn how to rig up characters you might be better off in CA but there is on class in GA for motion capture that is fun.

I have another question if thats all right. Does full sail have a place where they showcase game art students work? I'm trying to see the portfolio of other students to get an idea of how people progress while in the school. I can't find much.

You can visit the school and schedule tour through the school. They usually place some artwork around the school so you can see what students work on. Some of the monitors in the hallways show a mix of works. Other than that I'm not too sure where specifically you can find other students portfolios. Most work for the classes I took in game art where posted on ArtStation, you can try looking for Fullsail portfolios on there maybe. Sorry if it's not much help, I never searched for other portfolios besides my classmates portfolios.
