I have no idea how I randomly came across this video and channel. The shoulders and bottoms of the tanks are thickest, and yes, the steel tanks are convex at the bottom... if you check the black protector you'll see the radius in that also. BUT, we used to tell sailors that if a tank ruptured, it would pass through the steel bulkhead of the boat/ship. THIS dismisses that myth. I appreciate what this video demonstrates about ruptured bottles. The Nitrox tank is really no different, just an O2 enriched mix. THIS is why we always secure the bottles, If that happened in a closed space, the pressurization from the tanks would be something else! I ended up watching the entire episode. btw, all of these bottles just failed their visual inspections ;) no need for hydro anymore :) Thank YOU and thumbs UP. Amazing what they can take. CRES and Aluminum won't spark when hit by jacketed or unjacketed rounds... I thought I'd nerd out a little there. Even gas tanks don't explode when shot. Sorry Hollywood. Thank you for risking life and limb to demo some street physics.

What I've learned: scuba tanks are SS+ tier for emergencies... Breathable air in fire(smoke) or underwater. Pretty much bullet proof (good for shield and breaching) Can inflate anything with pressure (liferaft, swimming pool, tire etc) And makes a good leaf blower...

Catching the bullet halfway through the side of the tank was one of the coolest things you've caught on camera, second only to the spinning tank round that bounced off of the safe.

This more than made up for the glove videos. This might be one of the coolest Demo Ranch videos ever.

As a diver this hurts my soul seeing tanks destroyed, but it does give me some confidence on how durable tanks are. I was honestly feeling super stressed throughout this entire video.

What I love the most about that caught Barrett AP round is the wear is all longitudal, must have had some wicked spin from the bore. Great vid, I thought one would split either top to bottom or straight round the penetration point - shortest route, really surprised and impressed they help up so well.

20:55 those egg shaped clouds right on the holes are barrel shocks and they happen because the air escaping the tank is going faster than the speed of sound, which causes the pressure to drop significantly, and when air pressure drops suddenly, it creates vapor, which is what you see.

Apart from the fun, that was a great educational video. I build air compressor systems and I am a BSAC scuba diver so it was especially interesting. If youtube steals the money from this video then RU-vid itself need defunding.

I haven't SCUBA dived in a good while, but when I did aluminum held way more pressure than steel. A steel tank held 72 cubic feet at 2300psi max, and an aluminum tank held 80 cubic feet at 3000 - 3200psi.
