I know Many of you have seen us take on this trail with our Jeeps but my Buddy wanted to take his Full size Tundra up the trail with small tires to see how his Rig will do without 4 wheel camper setup.

I really appreciate this video because I’ve never been there and now I know what the trail looks like👍🏼. Love to see more trails done like this in depth.

That bypass has been in place pretty much all year. I’d rather see people create the bypass then tear up, break things, possibly leak fluids and get stuck where they don’t belong. We took a full size F150 up in August, should have done a video as with good drivers and spotters you really can get through more than you realize.

That was excellent spotting on that pickup truck. I have seen a few good rigs struggle on those rocks even with a spotter.

Considering the size of the Tundra, its ground clearance and wheel/tyre size, it did well😊

Look at the Rubicon.. Every hard section now has a bypass.
@maddawgnoll

Haven't they had bypasses at most places anyway? I always wanted to do the Rubicon in my power wagon but I hurt my back at work, had two surgeries and moved to Montana before I had the chance to.

Maybe there was an emergency where they needed to make a road to get someone's rig out, or to get around a broke down rig? I dunno. Some national forests allow you to go off trail for firewood, but you can't take green trees out. Only dead. But that's how a lot of roads have been made in Lassen national forest. I remember taking some of them when there were basically just two track width.

Nice video, I'm am sad that I'm going to need to sell my 4gen runner for a van. I won't be seeing these beautiful places anymore until I can afford another rig and that won't be anytime soon. As for now, please watch and help protect our beautiful forest for me.

Fun to watch but just too big a vehicle for those trails. I sence some expensive repairs if you keep thrashing your daily driver, bit fun to watch for us!

Has that Tundra been upgraded to 33"s? I have a first gen, 04 Tundra. I just put a GFC popup camper on it. All aluminum construction, only weighs 275 lbs. Actually lighter than the old cab high fiberglass shell I had previously, Snugtop.

How could a person possibly know if they could run through a trail unless they first run through the trail? That bypass is simply modifying the trail so that it is passable… It’s really no different than you moving rocks, so that the Tundra can make it through a spot. They modified the trail just like you modified the trail. There’s no difference. * The only reason why there is a trail there to begin with is because someone “way back when” decided to cut trees and make a path. Just enjoy the trail. Cool Video!

What's with the arrogance? You have no say who drives where. That's like me saying I've been going to meadow lake since '77 so go only where I say. You should be welcoming other 4x4 enthusiasts.
@theangrycamper

What you have to remember is that, conservationists and climate nazis lobby to shut down our forests when people go off trail. the more people venture off trail the fewer trails we will have. so stay on the trail and save our forests.
@etb4272
@etb4272 8 месяцев назад
I don't think it was arrogance, I think the issue is if people go off trail and cut down trees, the trail could end up getting closed by the forestry service.
@PatientXero607
@PatientXero607 8 месяцев назад
There are enthusiast who treat the trails with respect. Then you have the jackasses who's goal are just to tear up the trail like a drunken redneck so their lifted coal roller can get through. Don't be the latter is the point being made here.

Agreed. But it's a Jeeper thing to destroy a rig before injecting any intelligence into the situation - such as taking a bypass if and when you want. Or using a winch. Or using lockers. (he made a comment about that too earlier in the vid). It's fine for him to do what he wants, with his rig. But to tell others what to do with their rig when there is no precedent to do so (and no consequences for them if they tell someone wrong) really is quite annoying. Like telling Tundra he didn't need larger tires after they got done skull dragging the thing on it's skids half way up the trail. YES TUNDRA, YOU DO NEED 35's if you're doing trails like that. Sheeze. And as far as that bypass he was upset about...could have been forestry service that put that in there, for their own reasons. Who knows. Tearing up trails is one thing - like not using lockers when you have them and digging holes in the trail surface. That's bullshit. But a simple bypass that wasn't even a lengthy one...no issues.
