A first person view of what it's like to ride the Alpine Slide at Mt. Hood Skibowl at full-tilt-boogie from top to bottom!
The dual-track Alpine Slide at Mt. Hood Skibowl sends you riding own a half-mile of twists and turns through mountain meadows before dropping you back off in the base area of Skibowl West. The side-by-side tracks let you ride alongside (or race) family and friends.
You ride up the mountain on up the mountain on the double chair lift and then you drop 350 feet over the half-mile ride as you wind your way down the track. The system is simple, you pull back on the stick to brake and push forward on it to go. You can absolutely fly out of the track so you need to lean into those corners.

We were there a day before it opened this year, and it just closed for the season. I really wanted to ride this, it looks pretty fun. Thanks for the video. Jim

Awesome! Thanks for posting. That downhill Cart looks great! Sounds like they should seal up the seams between those cement sections. "Click-clack Click-clack," click-clack click-clack😅

I think they're actually some kind of fiberglass/plastic segments. I believe they take the whole thing down and store it during the winter.

Probably expansion seams. Like those annoying bumps on concrete highways.

The track isn't cement. It's some kind of segmented fiberglass or composite material. I'm pretty sure they set it up and take it down each year because the winter weather (and ski resort grooming equipment) would destroy it. Not sure what the white splotches are.

it's fun but also not fun.. y.. cause u get the fking assholes that hold on to there brake all the way down the god damn thing so u are just sitting there while 90 year old grandma on the other slide thing next to yours going 70mph down hers. speaking out of personal experince.

Yeah, I feel ya there! It took us a lot of runs before we finally got a totally clear, side by side, wide-open throttle run top to bottom. I think it was finally around lunch time~ish when people cleared out.
