Here's the full video of sea trials during Storm Brendan that hit the South Coast of Ireland. Some beautiful Ariel footage of Thunder Child showing the power and majesty of the sea.
1:25 You should take this boat through Haulover Inlet, just so you can laugh at the guy who shoots all those videos of the yuppie skippers screwing it up in their floating gin palaces! :-)
She rides well absolutely amazing ...she stays in place look at those swells? I don't think people understand the severity of the trials? however the fact that she is bottom heavy...makes the difference she will up right her self ... absolutely amazing 😍 she is so rare only ONE!!!!
Amazingly beautiful boat you have there, would love to be able to go for a ride in it,here's a perfect name for it in my opinion: I would call it 'Storm Destroyer'. Respect from a Portuguese fan to yous over there in the land of the shamrocks, the beautiful and mystical Ireland...
Hi Frank, what a amazing film, but what a storm. Name is Ray (Floatwithme) a Dutch composer. I am glad that I have subscribed to your channel. Keep up that great work. Cheers Ray
Thanks for sharing but you have way too many cuts, we'd love to see more than 3 second clips. You can make the video 10 minutes long and people will still watch it.
Want!!! Dear Santa 2 please ; ) Edit: Frank, that was amazing but the real test is within a category 5 hurricane. 50ft swells and 150+ mph wind. Now that is a real test. She should be alright thou but the nerve part could be the real challenge
Please make a longer video. Also I’d like to see how Thunderchild handles ruff water at speed. Dig the nose in. You made a very strong boat now TEST IT! EXTREME TESTING and put one video of this! Please
I agree 100%. I noticed after cresting a wave when the bow is about to re enter they cut filming. I want to see that bow spear a wave and how it takes it in stride. Let one of those hammer waves hit you awkwardly and show how the boat keeps you safe.
That is awesome I appreciate the video but you should show more than 5 Second Clips show the boat going out let us see the boat run. The longest continuous run you did was 4 seconds
Would you be mad if I built a scale RC thunderchild and put jets on it It would end in the 1,+ meters scale.. Love this boat thanks for sharing this Cheers from Denmark
That boat rights itself and is airtight if flipped. The occupants are strapped in. Amazing vessel. The boat is in more danger tied to the dock. What other vessel intentionally sits in the worst piece of water they can find?
Hi Frank I have a quick question . I am of the opinion that most if not all modern hull design is based on a budget and depending on what that budget will allow is what the boating public is going to get . So performance is based on the bottom line . IMHO Thunder Child's radical hull design is based on an unlimited budget meaning you knew what you wanted and you didn't care how much it cost as you were more concerned with the end results / hull performance .
Please Let us see your craft take e.g. the breaking wave at 1.50 as broadside. (We’ve seen the self righting videos under test conditions. Seeing it for real would be a valuable insight).
Actually, I thought this vessel, in these waves/swells/breakers did a terrible job handling them. I’m thinking it had as much to do with the skipper as it did with the hull design. AND I AM speaking as a licensed Captain with over two decades of professional experience. The roll is also a giveaway. Maybe they should show it running with the waves to see if it does any better.
What is the point of this boat? Serious question. It looks like it’s designed for something specific, but what is that? Is it purely an experiment, or is it a final design?
Lol imagine someone sleeping in the bow. Then suddenly goes for a 40-50 foot drop before being slapped to the floor. Definitely don’t want to be ahead of the pilot house on a day like this.
