Welcome to the 450 gang. Power>comfort speed>comfort. Try hovering over the seat. Allows more control with corners when leaning and control of the quads movement to maintain speed and makes it easier to break the tires loose if you want to have fun. Been riding them for about 5 years. Started with a 05 kicker that I cracked the case on so I bought me an 06

My bone stock 2004 TRX 450r did gps 76-77mph. After the motor work it did gps 86mph. And that was restricted by the Rev limiter. That thing has a lot more in it. Take it to Mark Baldwin at Baldwin motorsports near Cleveland Ohio. He is master with those engines. It will blow your mind what you are missing.

Unfortunately I sold mine two years ago. I bought it new and had it built by Mark Baldwin at Baldwin Motorsports near Cleveland Ohio. He does phenomenal work on Honda 450s and has a Honda race team. It's worth checking out some of his stuff on the internet.

It's geared different than the 400 that's why it doesn't pop up as easy but you can wheelie the 450 pop the clutch a little bit it should stand up

The reason your handle bars feel different is because this is a RACE quad not a TRAIL quad like the 400ex but you can buy many different aftermarket bars for them and make it anyway you want bro...

That bike is going to get addictive . The torque is awesome ! And the suspension alone is like 1500$ . Awesome suspension for Baja racing . And the reason it doesn’t wheelie easily is because when you desert race those guys don’t want the front end coming up all the time .

What would you recommend? Trx 450r, or yfz450? Which do you think is faster and also performance wise? I’m debating hardcore and which brand I want but for some reason I’m swing more for Yamaha

Tag bars!! And odi lock grips!! 2" Bar riser's & a antivibe stabilizer, helps tons, it a smooth track, soft dirt race bike, you have to make it comfortable for long trail rides, try tilting your thumb throttle up a little bit so you are not over extending your wrist, my 05 mild build hit 86 topped

Get your meat off the seat and stand up when you ride. Get you some new bars and risers. Some vibration bar ends. New grips and a decent thumb throttle.

I have both a 400ex and a 450r. I prefer the 450r. The thing is crazy and does try to throw you off, but personally, I don't find it to be an awkward riding position, but I'm also only 5,5. If you think the position is that uncomfortable, I think I have a sweet build idea. Swap the 450 engine into the 400.

I'm a little late to this, but I have an 07 trx450er. Love it! I've had it since 2012. I can tell you right now that those are not the factory handlebars. I don't think you would be a fan of the factory bars either. Get some pro taper or renthal bars. If you really want to open up that engine, get the honda velocity air intake kit, and run full Dasa exhaust. Intake kit comes with K&N air filter and a jet kit. The factory setup is so restricted. As far as the wheelies go, just sit back on the seat a little bit. It'll pop right up.

Race quads have smaller bars for quicker turn but so there also not as much in the way when your hitting corners hard

I used to have a 2006 400ex it was bored 40 over with stage 3 cams and jetted carb with a wisco piston I hit 75 going up hill it was awsome and fun to ride but the top end only lasted 2 years sadly found out I had a stripped head bolt and was getting air to the piston fun four wheeliers though

Your 2 front tires on the 400ex are on the wrong side or you need to turn your tires around they are backwards

You have to put the air pressure at only 5 max . If it’s at 8 or 7 the bike is going to be a mess . Also tighten the suspension up on the front shocks or it will feel like it’s floating all over the place

That throttle is one problem. I bought the same one for my 250r. The throttle itself is to long. I kept the billet housing and put a shorter throttle inside the housing. Its also sharp on the edges and has no rubber to keep your thumb from slipping.

Paint the a-arms black, sticks with the quads black frame. Mines has it like that and looks good. If you want paint the rims black so then its extra clean. If you need any help with wheelies lmk and I'll see if we can meet at any time and I can teach you in person.

If you want speed, just re-gear it. I ran a 15t front sprocket and a 38t rear. I also had a 3mil top and bottom end to go along with it with stage 3 hotcam.

I would get bar risers and lean the bars back towards you or what I did was get pro taper fat bars Atv High bend and those made the difference also heat wrap from advanced auto put it on the pipe it will help a lot 450s run hot anyway it’s a life saver

If you have the money and plan on keeping this 450 I would go with a set of fast flex bars they are adjustable and the quad won't beat your wrists as bad my buddy and his brothers all have had them on the 400exs and 450r and they race xc here in Indiana ive ridden all their quads stock vs built and the suspension and bars made big differences to the riding position and the feel of the quad all of their quad almost make you feel like you in a cockpit rather than sitting on top of the quad

You should try a ltz400, kfx400 or dvx400. They wheelie so smoothly and are extremely comfortable with reverse.

Get some handle bar risers. Or get a plus one steering stem. Or get some fatty bars CR bend with the one and one eight adapters. Which will rise the bar's position to a more comfortable position.

Nice 450, from watching the video they look like dirt bike bars witch will make it for an uncomfortable ride! I have an 08 with stock bars and it’s great! Put on a nice pair of pro tapers and you will feel the difference!

No heat shield? The titanium tape heat wrap is a must. If water comes off that pipe you're going to have more than missing hair. I bought a new header pipe and it was nearly undrivable until I wrapped the pipe. It was so hot that it melted my snow pants when I was out in the snow.

It looks like your back tires are taller than the front tires that would cause you to lean foward. From the factory fronts are an inch taller than the back which allows the machine to set level and gives a better ride.

The reason the exhaust is burning your leg is because there is supposed to be a heat shield there to protect your leg but weird shorts it would still be extremely warm, If you can't find a factory heat shield you might go to the auto parts store and get some of that exhaust wrap it is ugly but it would be better than burning your leg.

@Maggot Bin wtf ??? have you ever rode any of these bikes ? 400ex , 450r , 250r , yfz450 , or ltr450 ???? its a 4 stroke . if you cant easily pull the front of a 4 stroke up . something is wrong lmao even with long travel 450s come up easy .

@Maggot Bin yes obviously its meant to be raced . im short and only 145 with full gear on . if i can pull up bald tires lugging the motor on a stock 450r in sand . then he shouldnt have any problems . ive been riding/racing since 89
