I absolutely love these old storybook homes. The same people saying these are grotesque are the same ones who buy these McMansions with faux brick and vinyl siding. And I so love that old Hollywood history.
I know, huh? Even little features like built in corner shelves, arched doorways, make a house so much more pleasing to the eye, and give some character.
My God I always wondered what the inside of that house looked like and it was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. It was decorated beautifully just right for the architecture. I'm literally just in awe of that house. How fortunate you were to walk around the whole house. The master bathroom was just breathtaking. Actually the whole house was breathtaking and it just made me happy so happy looking at a piece of Hollywood history. Thank You Jordan. That was really fvcking Awesome!!!!👏👏👌👌😀😀😀❤
What a beautiful house! Like it is said, "they don't make them like this anymore". I hope the house is never torn down and preserved for future generations to enjoy such architecture.
This house/Mansion is absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous! The woodwork, ceiling, everything about the place is amazing. Such personality! Thank you so much for sharing ❣️❣️
This type of architecture was called "Storybook Homes" built in the 1920's, this example is one of the more extravagant examples I've seen. Most are gone now, and I would imagine someday this one will be also. Thanks for getting a video history for all of us to enjoy.
I think this and the "Witch House" are about the only two prime examples of "Storybook Homes" left in such wonderful shape (I am sure there are others, but I mean in this nearly perfect condition). I hope this one never gets torn down. I would live there in a heartbeat. "Storybook" architecture is my favorite next to Art Deco.
You find in houses from a hundred years ago, even very wealthy didn't require gargantuan rooms. Of course, before central AC, heating and cooling a megamansion would have been a pain.
I’m officially addicted to your channel. Unbelievably interesting and entertaining content! I hope you’re getting paid well by RU-vid, because you truly deserved it!!
Marilyn Monroe mentioned how Clark Gable carried Carole Lombard's last note to him in his wallet always. I believe it was folded in plastic for safe keeping. He never truly got over her untimely death. I find that incredibly sad.
That house is amazing. I now have a dream home. That is it. I am flabbergasted, it literally has everything I've ever wanted and the styling and all the decorations and furniture. Simply amazing.
Absolutely incredible ! This house should be on the historical registry IMO. Words cannot describe this treasure. I'm from central jersey and neighbor of "the richest girl in the world " Doris Duke. her home was recently leveled! A piece of history gone forever. This home should be permanently preserved so it can be celebrated as it should. Great job! Thanks for sharing!
I am really enjoying your vlogs. I live in New York and I think it’s so cool that you are surrounded by Hollywood History. And the fact that you are a young guy who even knows who Clark Gable is amazes me.
I have lived here my whole life, and never seen anything like this. I love Jordens vlogs. there is so much to see and we never get to see it. thank you Jorden!
I am a new follower of your videos, and have to say I’m blown away by your extensive knowledge of old Hollywood and the stars. Your delivery is so enjoyable and professional also. Thank you so much for this great channel
I really REALLY enjoy how much u love ur doggie & how devoted u both r 2 each other. The saying “a dogs a man’s best friend “ rings true watching u 2 together . Sweet!
You can own it for a cool $1.7 million. Not bad when you consider the location, house & history. The previous owner bought it and everything inside it for $180,000 in 1983. The items inside would fetch that much now. What a successful investment that was.
@@garyenwards1608I purchased a home in 1980 for $32,000 in the San Fernando Valley. $180,000 was a LOT of money back then. One of the nicest areas being built at that time went for $90,000.
Wow! That seems very cheap considering who owned it. I imagine it didn't stay on the market too long. You can't buy that kind of detail and warmth in the newer homes today. Can you imagine how much that would cost to build today.
I am surprised it isn’t more, given the location, provenance, and cost of homes in LA. I have to wonder if there aren’t some serious condition problems.
Joel Schiller was a pretty big deal, he just died at 80 something recently I think right after you posted this . Production designer, art director associated with the graduate, rosemarys baby, the muppet movie. wow
If anyone doesn't respect your vlogs, don't worry about it, there are many that enjoy your vlogs , I thank you again and I'm sure many thank you for your vlogs and thank you for not disabling the comments, I wish you many years of success....
That is one of the most beautiful magical houses I’ve ever seen. I hope no one ever changes anything about it. What a treat to see a video about it. Good luck to you and your little dog. 💜💙
Thanks for picking up on our Facebook post about the weirdest house in Beachwood Canyon with this enticing tour. Just one correction: the Praed Street Irregular members who lived in the house (and, we suspect, installed that wild door) in the 1960s were Sir Alvin and Lady Germeshausen.
What a great house! The Hollywood Hills are loaded with wonderful old houses like this. Thank you for your wonderful videos. I grew up there and while I recently moved back temporarily to take care of my parents, I had a similar experience at the Villa Carlotta on Franklin Street. I think it has converted to condo ownership and you can't just wander in off the Street and get a friendly resident to give you a tour like I did about 9 years ago. The environment was very similar to the rooms of this house.
Wow!! That's my kind of house! Love the garden areas and walkways! An oasis in the city!! The tiles and stained glass windows are so beautiful. Thanks Jordan!!
Legends legends LEGENDS......your heavy breathing creeps me out and your story is a waste of time. Go to the courthouse records dept.....try to get history of the pantages, investigate the origins of the family. Academy Awards given out at the pantages theater, etc.could have been great but you pulled it off like a neb-nose
WOW!! Jordan, I think this is one, if not the most unique and incredibly beautiful houses/place you have filmed!!! I love all those special different little rooms!! Great place for hide and seek,lol...it is one place I wouldn't change a thing in the decor!!! That bathroom!!! Jeez, the carving on the master bed footboard!! The artwork within, oh, all of it. That is so my taste!! Only next time, tell Ben to get his own ride to Target, so you could have seen all the rooms and spent more time on the art and architechture!! LOL!! Great Video!!
Gorgeousness, absolute gorgeousness. I can imagine when Gable/Lombard lived there they could see all of the surrounding area. Sigh. Love to live there? Heck yeah.
The home is absolutely gorgeous. I can just imagine Clark and Carole walking around. It is an unusual looking home but once inside, your jaw just drops. May they both continue to rest in peace.
What a beautiful house, you've done it again. great interesting vlog. Your knowledge on the things you do, makes the vlogs. So sit up other bloggers and take note.
My thoughts exactly and learn to pronounce. (Roof) not [ruff]. There was another cultural butchery of words, but at least you didn't say (Foyerr) instead of {Foy yeah}. Which, of course, is the literal French pronunciation for Foyer.
wow absolutely cool that you got to go inside that house. Like stepping back in time.. Another great vlog. Keep On Keepin On God bless :-) and that upstairs bathroom OMG you're right I could absolutely live there LOL
Thank you, really enjoyed viewing the property. Its It's truly amazing, the craftsmanship is unbelievable. I love your fur baby. Such a lover he is...♡
You have the most adorable, sweet and loving alarm clock I have ever seen. Thank you for taking the time to share that stunning house. Thanks to Ben too for waiting!
Thank you for this video I always enjoy looking at beautiful houses and gardens -this one is not "weird" at all it is a magical place a house with so much character style history beautiful precious details antiques and art....I could watch this video thousand times
This the most incredible vlog you have done. My god what an incredible home. And the decor, you will never ever see that again as long you live. Thank you for the share.
That house was so pretty! I don't know how I feel about bathing with a huge mirror and a stuffed pheasant but it was a cool place. And Jah is too funny- what a way to wake you up 😂😛. I enjoyed the vlog today (haven't seen a vlog I haven't liked- you keep it interesting)
Here in Hadam CT is Gillette Castle which was where the man who portrayed Sherlock Holmes in the 1890’s lived, his name is William Gillette. It’s absolutely beautiful, definitely a must see when in Connecticut
Another super video ! I remember reading many of those short mystery stories featuring detective Solar Pons by August Derleth back in the 70s in many mystery short story collections ! Solar's friend who "narrated" the stories would often complain about the bad smell of Solar's pipe tobacco ! Keep you the good work, young man ! Love your videos !
Doing a little internet investigating (as I have read others have commented also) I would have to guess that the house belonged to Joel Schiller, artist, and painter of the Muppets who passed away 1/17/2017 at 86 years of age, and the house was being sold because he passed, I am not sure but this is what I gather from context. The house is beautiful as are all the Hollywood homes and seem like a dream to me as I am renting a small 2 bedroom in Chicago.
Wow what an enjoyable Vlog Jordan. The house was incredible. Lot of maintenance though when house sold and beautiful furnishings and paintings gone. Love to you and Jah. Australia 😎
It's good to be king. Incidentally the doorway is reminiscent of The Cabaret of Hell, a famous structure in Paris, built in 1890s, heavily damaged during WWII, and demolished in the 1950s to put up a supermarket. The architect was clearly referencing the cabaret. The doorway is also featured on a tarot card (The Vacchetta Tarot), which is how I came to learn about it during my research. History is fascinating sometimes.
In visiting Idyllwild, California I learned that Clark Gable also had a home or cabin up in the mountains. No one knew where the house was or even if it still existed. It may have burned down with the fires they have up there. Wonder if you know or knew about Clark Gable's mountain home?
