Once a beard gets over about 4 inches or so, I tend to like a fuller look to keep everything in proportion. As mine has gotten longer, I will often skip the blow dryer completely and just oil, balm, and go. It's definitely easier to manage than when fighting the awkward stage and trying to tame flyaways. Good video, Dan!

My beard is not anywhere near presentable if I do not use heat. I lose about 2 inches in length and is just terrible. Trust me, I have tried to make it work lol

Dan. Really love the fuller style. This is the first time I have grown my beard longer in all my years, and I am using your tips. I have a white beard, but the texture is similar to yours. I am using your tips, with great success. I like the fuller look as it gets longer. Thanks for being here. I look for each update, and you are truly a beard hero. Tom

Dan C: Just watched your beard trim video, which was your first trim video on how to trim and keep its shape. I am truly trying to grow mine out longer similar to yours, and do it with grace. I am great with the front, and like you, my beard wasn't working with the collared shirts. That was a year ago, and I know your beard is longer now than last year. How did you end up getting the density for the front, while keeping the back part trimmed enough to grow out and look good until you got your longer beard? In your video this week on "Beard Blowout", I see your beard really has kept its shape, just longer now, and looking awesome. How did you add the length, and always look great? Thanks for directing me to a vid or answering. -Tom

I do something similar but with a wide detangler brush. I also have a round air brush that rotates. The round airbrush has been my go to for the last week or so. I'll probably switch and go back to the blow dryer. Cross training is a good thing. I like switching up the look, as well. But definitely like the fuller Santa clause look.

Ive had my beard for a little over a year and it has been a challenge all the way. My beard turned out super curly with many kinks in individual hairs. Combing is a pain, styling is a pain. Ive gotten to the point where i think of shaving it off but then i remember how stupid i look without a beard and decide to keep it. This vide gives me hope, because when i do manage to straighten it a little, it looks just like yours, except the length, mine is about half as yours in length when its straight. Thank you for making this video.

Dan C Bearded Trusted Teacher, thanks so much brother, and your very welcome and everything I said is true. I tried blow drying my beard tonight just like you showed how to in your video. It came out amazing 😉, it made my beard straight and just looked so much better and neater. Also the cold rinse shower really works, both with the beard and my hurting body. Lately, I've cut out the blow dry. That by itself gives my beard a fuller look. I apply oil and comb and balm through my beard and then comb and finish with a boars hair brush and my hands. If I do blow dry, I only use balm on surface if needed. It's interesting to see what works for different people. Cool video.

Great video, and I like the look on you. Not sure it would work for me, as my chin grows slower than the rest of my beard, and I'm thinking that fanning it out towards the sides would make that more obvious. Typically, I tend to comb the sides in towards the middle to help with that.

I am a bit partial to the blow out look Dan C. I usually try to achieve that look on a daily basis. I did learn some new ideas watching the video. I just don’t have a full enough beard to suit myself, especially under the chin. Been growing this beard for two and a half years and I am just stuck at seven inches long ! Just don’t seem to get any longer over time. I’m upset about it but what can I do. Just hanging in there and hoping for more as time goes by.

Ok...might be dumb question....if “oil and water don’t mix” why put beard oil on while still wet? What does that do opposed to doing it after you’ve dried and combed out your beard?
@DanCBearded

That is a great question! I do not like my beard anymore wet than this for that reason. However, when wet it helps spread the product evenly. Sealing oils can also trap the hydration in beard.

Great Vid Dan. Nice to see the routine. Not sure if i missed it but do you pre-treat your beard with argan or something before the drying for protection? Is this something that's more important than I think it is? I just noticed Husky came out with some kind of heat treatment oil. This would help a lot of fellas that have wavy/curly issues I would think. Thoughts? Maybe vid?
@DanCBearded
@DanCBearded 4 года назад
I just use a good quality beard oil. I love Husky but that product is not needed. Argan gets praise for it's high smoke point, but all of the quality carrier oils have a high enough smoke/heat point. Beard oil (as long as quality) does the same job

Not true. Plenty of them out there, you just have to find them. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Vtkkf4FrnPA.html Also, search for any of my morning routine videos.

Straightening my beard with a blow dryer makes my beard look fake. Lol

And that absolutely happens to some people. Being aware of your own hair texture is very important! All beards are different. This is simply something that works for me. Great comment!

@@jeogemalpantho1291 1) I have had a beard of different shapes and lengths for over 14 years now, and have used heat all 14 years. Beard is doing well! Not sure how much longer a long run could be. 2) if you have any studies showing heat damages beard hairs, I would love to read if you care to share! No sarcasm or tone, truly love learning.
