The experience and knowledge you gained from the project is priceless. Im sure you've gained subs from the build. Youll find 15k is not at all bad for the majority of street builds. Ive spend similar in dsm, Honda, and LS builds. Dont regret it if this is your passion. Its a clean well done build man. Good luck with the channel and whatever you dig into next!
That sounds about right on the price. I went the same route and said the same thing, BUT I built my engine to learn how to tune and for competition. Thinking back when I started this journey I didn't know anything about tuning, now I know more than the circle of friends I have. They actually come to me for ECU tuning now. The skills and KNOWLEDGE!!!, I gained from it is priceless. I wanted to help myself now I can help others. To be honest that feeling will go away and when you look back at what you built you will appreciate it . Thank you for sharing your journey I look forward to the next build.
There are no mistakes in life, just opportunities to learn and do better. It’s great that you were able to share your journey and how you felt about it. You will help a lot of people. Great video. Xoxo 🤗💕
Damn, man! I really appreciate your honesty in this. That is a pricey Honda at the end of the day. Definitely feel you on investing money like a baller when your budget needs to be taller. At the same time, I think you have to dive in and have the mindset of fake it 'til you make it on RU-vid to an extent. At least you can take pride in knowing you actually did it right! Sure you can turbo a car for $1,000 or so, but how long will it last? Whatever you do, don't sell this car!
I think it's worth it. You had fun, you got content, you got wow factor, you learned a bunch, it was enjoyable to watch, and your boosted man. BoostedJohn
this is my first time watching one of your videos, but i can tell a lot about your character watching the video, you’re gonna be a successful youtuber tbh keep grinding ✊🏽, i’m currently building a k24 ek coupe but did a whole bunch of research comparing if i should go lsv on boost or k so i’m guessing that’s how i ran across your channel lol definitely gained a subscriber tho 💯
In my opinion, 14 K honestly isn’t too bad for a B series build just make sure you really get your bang for your buck and it stays longevity with a couple supporting Mods to last long.
I love the low $ builds, I finally cracked $1000 on my EK project. But I recycled alot of parts from past builds. If I add that in there... well, I don't want to think about it.
1992 EG Civic Hatch with an LSVTEC here. Your build inspires to keep going even tho my car has so many problems lol. I knew that going in & I'm excited what it'll be like a year from now or even 3. Definitely will need your channel along the way bro.
John! This build is and will always be so sick, and inspires me to do more on my b18 Del Sol. I'm sure with the all time you've put into it (and the $) and maybe a sponsorship from Sarpino's, you'll hitting the numbers you've been waiting for Cheers :)
Oh am working on a b16 del sol myself too, its good to know there is some love for the sol out there , i just sold my s2000 last year and i miss driving with the top down, good luck with ur build buddy 👍🏼
Damn. I spent $23k building an EK Coupe CTR Clone ALL MOTOR. I used all brand new parts from engine bay setup, to full 5 lug suspension Circuit Track build, to all misc stuff. Minus the CTR interior. I agree, its too much money yo spend, but my brothers and I build the car and the memories is priceless.
I know this comment is super late. Just found your Chanel while searching for differentpeoples builds on an older civic. I think you did an awesome job with the build! Keep up the great work. I would suggest you just keep building car that you want to build for your self and film it. If you honestly have passion and an appreciation for your own build that you wanted to do then it will naturally show and help build your Chanel. F*ck the haters you do you and do your best, in the end it will pay off one way or another
I have a built integra. I have a quick little video of it. Our build has been going on for over 3 years. ONLY because we are doing everything by hand as well and we also have to support our family while doing the build lol we hand cleaned every single part. OEM bumpers 😆 to me that’s everything haha . The engine set in my room for over a year. 😂
ITS A BAD ASS BUILD I JUST THINK WRONG CAR TO BUILD AT 350 hp you can get a better car with more hp for less than what you invested on this one . BUT AT THE END OFVTHE DAY ITS YOUR CAR AND UOU DID IT YOUR WAY YOUR STYLE 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
The numbers may not add up now but you've definitely reaped a reward that few others have. Applied knowledge, real-world experience, connections (both in person and online), etc. all valuable and worth the $$. Not to mention after a video is produced it becomes passive income; Working for you in the background while you plan to make moves for the future. Nice work John!
Hey this is a sweet build, I hope the RU-vid dilemma of building your car for views doesn’t take away from your enjoyment of this awesome car you’ve built. I hope this channel grows as you want it to but even if it doesn’t, you’ve got something great to show for it. And that’s all that matters.
Your build was super worth it man! People like me wish I had the time or place to build something like this. It wasn’t for nothing because I’m watching your video and just motivates me to follow what I want to do and videos like this really help make that easier.
I found your b18 tear down video while looking for a how-to when I started tearing my b18 apart and subscribed immediately! Your videos are entertaining and help inspire me to keep my build going! I decided to build the bottom end and auto to manual swap it myself (may be a bad idea but gotta learn somehow) and it is taking forever. I’m in way more than I planned on spending but at the end of the day it’s about the ride not the destination. All that matters is the joy it did/will bring and everything you learned. Can’t wait to see more content!🤙🏼
Enjoyed watching this whole build man; you’ve definitely gotten me even more pumped to build out my new car(2011 335xi which was how I originally found your channel haha). Not sure I’ve got the balls to do a full build like you did yet but Mad respect for you doing everything on this car. No doubt you’ll be reaping the RU-vid benefits in no time🔥
Bro. You’re gonna make it keep your head up. You’re humble as hell and are able to reflect back on what you did and mistakes you made and that’s some grown man shit. You got solid content just keep posting videos 👍
Love your channel man...found it when I looked up a b18 engine tear down and yours popped up. Ever since I’ve binged all your videos and loo lm forward to new content...keep up the good work brotha!
Dang 14k. That’s wat I spend on a Rhd k swap car that I got now. Never say is not worth it cuz look how much knowledge u got now cuz of it. Deff support u keep it up
I think the built is worth every penny. Experience sensation and bond for life. I have an EG Si that I bought in 2005. I will keep for as long as I live. Pr3 head with b18a1 black 12:1 compression ratio. Coil over . I did buy original parts for lower control arm, rear etc
Hey brother, you built an unreal eg and learned a lot in the process. Sure you could have done a few different projects for more videos but as your friend said in the reaction video "you built the car you wanted". Keep up the good work and that sub count will only continue to grow!
Just a tip, You Could have rebuilt the stock rack and converted to Manuel for next to nothing. Also never use after distributors as they are not calibrated correctly. Always smart to find an OEM one at a junkyard and rebuild it. Nice build but that’s a pretty penny
Since I got my ek sedan about 9 months ago, I've learned that these old Hondas are learning experiences, mines currently apart bc I put the wrong intake mani gasket on doing the all the heads gaskets and seals, everytime we work on it we are making mistakes, spending too much, but having fun and learning, and I think that's what it's about, someone said you wouldn't ask for growing advice from a farmer whos never lost a crop, because the whole time he's been pretty lucky
Not bad at all bro , I like the way that you focused on supporting mods. Next time just get a straight up get or a k20z3 . Imagine building a car in the Gtr world it’s 3 times that without the car it sickening, but like the build.
It's cause you built a Honda that your numbers aren't peaking I think but that's just me. It's typical and it's nothing new. If you built something we haven't seen people would be glued but what you've built it's been done. I personally still respect the fact that you built the car and your proud you did most of it on your own congrats man.
Don't think of the numbers; while to some it may not be worth it but you made it yours and thats what counts. Sure you can buy the a similar setup for half of what you spend, but thats bought not built. Some people won't ever get to experience the journey it takes from ground up and some won't care for it. This is what's going to make the car special for you, is that you spent the time, effort and money on her. Been down that path and i think its worth it 100% even if its just a b series. #Respect
I wish I can rebuild a car like this, I want to learn but don't know where I can get the best practice and resources. You are lucky to have a chance like this for your car project. Nice video. I like it.
I dont do RU-vid and probably spent that if not more on my civic d16z6 sohc build almost done with it. I hate spending the money but I know I'll live it when its done
I didn't know trump drove an evo, I figured he was more a honda guy...but seriously that sucks and is why part of me doesn't want to upgrade my engine and turbo....also id have to put it back to stock every 2 years cause california sucks smelly balls
man what a build I'm a motorcycle type of guy but this was great to follow. You cant really put a price on happy the car is amazing truthfully had to sub
I like and respect everything you've said about this particular build. I had to sell a turbo k swapped integra making 683 hp and 491 torque for reasons VERY similar to the things you said about your build. Regardless, you've built an amazing machine keep up the hard wor. You're positive business style approach towards the youtube world will pay off one day.
Been in the Honda game for at least a decade. Always wanted to do a Ls/Vtec Turbo monster the right way. Finally I’ve got my hands on an already properly built longblock. I’m so excited, I don’t even physically possess it yet and I’m plotting on the transmission build. Hah if I didn’t have multiple cars to use it in and extra swap and turbo kit parts I wouldn’t waste my time, but there is a huge catch. I’m trading wrench time so zero money is invested in my end to initially get the longblock (&tones more). Just mileage on my daily. I recently discovered your channel due to my new resurrected craze. Back then I thought, NO WAY could I afford this. Still to this day kinda, but I found a major loophole. I got so many projects I might just finally start my own channel. I’m a 31 year old poor ass Northern Michigan Honda nerd. I’m seasoned for sure with all this stuff, but at times there is still some random “rookie” moments. I can’t believe the views, ect all these little Honda channels reel in. Y’all definitely work hard for it... geez look at Kyle... You sir are 100% paying to play. I hope it eventually comes back around for you man. It’d be cool to meet you, I’m thinking about bringing my car down there for a tune. Do you know RCAutoworks? Same evaluation as my local. He’s an OG.
My gf dad has been building a 1964 Mini Cooper with a K series engine for the past 10 years it drives and everything it’s just not to where he wants it to be has over 23k invested in it don’t ever say it’s a waste of anything dude it’ll for sure pay off!!!
Boosted John I’ve been subscribed for 7 months now I watched your engine tear down video and it was so satisfying I started watching more of your videos and I really enjoy them!
John, First, I like the channel! The build was great! Secondly, every car guy out there feels your pain on this. Our passion is not cheap, and trying to make content about building a car is expensive over a short period of time. Take this learning experience and turn it into something great for your channel. Creative ways to modify cars reliably on a budget and for a purpose are great videos to watch. Keep up the awesome work and try to let go of the disappointment. But, also try to spend less next time for your own sanity! 🙂
I’m literally in the middle of building an LS Vtec myself and I know your pain, I’m building a 1,000 hp b18 and nothing has been cheap, but I hope to have it fully built by before Christmas
Nice 👍🏽 glad you added it up for us all bro I’m doing an eg hatch build and I’m on a budget I’ll appreciate you pricing everything so I can navigate it for myself an know what I’m getting into . 💯
I have a NA built sir g b18c in my Dc2. I watched ur video about cost versus, whether it was worth it. In my opinion u are lookin at this build wrong, u built a bad ass boosted very classic and clean 5th gen which will stand the test of time because this will never go out of style...but my main point was that if sponsors, like myself see that not only did u take ur capital, ur time, and all the risk and did it in a place that is nothing like what u would have at ur disposal at a true shop. Yea it cost u money an yea u could have built some stock k series with a turbo but in my own personal view point watching u take the time to learn and teach others was what it is about... this car community needs guys like u who believe that whatever it takes I'm gonna succeed. I have been to deployed twice while I was in the service and was driven enough to complete AFSOC/AFSOCOM. I was a United States Air Force TACP 1C4X1, which stands for Tactical Air Command and control. ... it's extremely physical extremely mental and they push you through special forces training that are designed to break you and put you in situations that you have to truly want that to complete and I believe that this crosses over to what you're saying you had to truly want to complete that car not for the money not for the fame but you wanted it and you wanted to do it right and those things are rare nowadays so I just wanted you to know that I would be interested in sponsoring your channel and if we can't work anything out on that Forefront I definitely will subscribe and contribute because your channel is one of the ones that I look forward to every week thanks again
Bro, I'm way deap in like you. Maybe one day I'll catch up with you. Mines not built. In process/progress. Don't feel bad abought grama! It's her blessing to you. How I'm going. Don't want to say my price yet. But I'm little discussed myself with what it cost. Gotta splerg sometimes.
I am currently building this. User wallet road mechanic and neighborhood beware. Shit is not cheap or easy or quiet. Gotta say I have no regrets though ! Lmao. Build on fam.
Thumbs up on the build. You need to get the deals man. If its not a deal dont buy it my motto(set by my girl lol). I bought someone's project parts that never happened. Pretty much a full D16 build for 1k you wouldnt belive what crazy deal I got. I don't even belive it. It was like a Billy Maze infomercial but wait theres more.
Best hobby in the world, building you own Honda 😎. Money is just part of the process.. great explanation though, people like this transparant build costs. I definedly also didnt know my costs upfront for my N/A b16 build. But.. in hindsight it was worth every penny... i mean euro 💪💥🔥🤓
I definitely enjoy your videos it's amazing builds u have done.i have a b18 nonvtec ima try to take it to 400hp.I already subscribed to keep watching your videos.
