for anyone who doesn't know yet, theres is a save data corrupting glitch in relation to remodeling homes. DO NOT remodel a home when you have your dodo gates open. it will most likely corrupt your data. nintendo is already looking to patch this but people should be aware until then! happy and safe home designing!

Good warning. Nintendo of America said in their tweet about the bug that save data will not be affected, but it is sorta phrased like if you close your game upon encountering the issue, you’ll be good. I hope no one’s lost data.

With all the new items NH is just teasing us to make horror islands. Bones, crashed cars, hospital equipment, laying mannequins... I kept smirking seeing all the stuff. My 90's suburbian island is gonna become wayyyy more sinister very soon lol

I'm glad to see a few gem core things but the story I want to tell is about an abandoned island that used to be famous for their various gemstones. For some reason, no one has been to that island for hundreds of years and was considered lost. And for this, I'm going to use the frozen set to represent the gems. There's also mine carts I'm looking for to use as the abandoned mines and vines to give off the vibe that no one has stepped foot or paw on that island for a long time. If anyone has any other items ideas that I can use. Let me know.

I'm absolutely THRILLED BEYOND WORDS that I can give Raymond the cozy, dark-academia home of his dreams. He's obsessed with playing the black violin every time I place one on my island, so my headcanon is that he is a gothic writer that plays in the evenings. He's going to have coffee cups, books, his violin, a clutter of pages and much better wallpaper and flooring!

I'm considering remodeling my entire island to be Japanese themed and even remodel the villager homes that aren't clearly Japanese inspired. I'm not sure how well that would work for bald eagle Apollo or ice hockey penguin Puck, but it could be an interesting challenge.

Japan RU-vidrs like Chris Broad(Abroad in Japan), Sharmeleon and others are perfect muses for making 'American' Apollo and 'Canadian' Puck feel natural in your "Land of the Rising Sun".

Another possibility is to turn them into expats! I'm an American living in Korea, so if you're going to have a Japanese themed island, their area could have references of home but include them trying to participate in the culture. :)

Phoebe is instantly who I think of! her house is impossible to match with any island theme, and the interior is just lava! I know she’s modeled after a phoenix but I always pictured a phoenix to be magical and elegant, not just a bird in a lava pit. so excited!!

I've not even been to HHP yet. So busy with the new stuff. Also I have 2 islands and 8 accounts on those 2 so a lot of hours goes in to the free update stuff. I think those people rushing it and time travel a lot with this HHP will have a ACNH burnout in a month...

This is such a cool feature, but I wish you didn't have to almost finish HHP to get it (It seems too final). I would have loved it for Muffy's home on my mostly pastel-colored island, but I don't think I'll be using it, as I gave her her own little goth/ karaoke corner already, lol. I might use it on Filbert's house, and I've been toying with the idea of making island #2 dark-themed, so this will come in handy later, for sure!

@@andri7037 true, but i think they meant the other way around. it makes perfect sense in the context of the dlc, but we've already been playing nh for more than a year. a lot of people already finished their islands. in that context, it would be nice to be able to have more content on your main island, and also have more gameplay left in the dlc.

I'm so sad that I let Audie go a while back (she was also a starter and i was planning on getting her back later to get her actual home interior). if I'd kept her just a few more months i could have just used a photo online to give her the actual interior she's supposed to have. :'(

Thanks for making this, I just started HHP and have only done 4 houses and had no idea it would take so much. Now I won't get antsy and impatient and can just enjoy the ride. I have Cherry in her starter home, I almost let her leave but now I can give her a snazzy place. I also intend to change Raymond's bland office interior and give Judy a mermaid makeover!

I've given Cherry (starter villager for me too) a huge yard to suit her style and am so excited to give her the proper interior now! Funny story: I rest my island four times to get a native fruit other than cherry, and when I finally got peaches, the game gave me Cherry as a starter villager! It felt like the game was mocking me but I didn't care because I love Cherry the villager!

Spoiler alert if you care but in HHP Raymond's request is a tailor shop with dark academia/gothic vibes and its changed my opinion of him completely. I always thought he was just bland businessman cat but giving him a dark academia vibe works so well!

If you want the best of both worlds just have two island residents. I’m speed running it on my island representative and enjoying the game on my second resident. 😊 (Just make sure that the account you use to buy the dlc has your switch registered as the primary, then all residents can access the dlc) It is so much fun to play this way!

I'm taking my time getting through everything (my own island isn't even finished), but I absolutely cannot wait to remodel Leonardo's and Bangle's homes. I love the two of them, but I've never liked their houses, so this will be completely awesome. I'm even more excited to remodel all ten of my villagers' interiors after the disaster all my early (clueless) gifting did to them!

WELL that just sealed the deal for me! This is going on the Christmas list!! 💙 PS: oh right! So I really want Ace on the island, but while I can live with his house exterior, I would love the chance to make it look more like I think it should: a little cream-colored fishing shack with a blue roof, maybe a blue or aqua door? We’ll see. Just not quite the log house situation he was given. And I’m completely blue-ing the interior of the house with fishing stuff. Honestly, that’s the coolest thing about this - our villagers all have those set personalities and dialogue, but from Happy Home Paradise or the individual profiles, they have their own hobbies and interests that aren’t always reflected in their houses, and that’s kinda sad. With this, I could give each of my villagers the exact house of their personal likes and interests. Even if it’s just adding an item or two to something that already looks nice, we can really personalize it! 😊💙

I've never been happy with many villagers homes and it's always annoyed me that I felt like I'd never be able to make a perfect island cause characters and homes never matched my islands look. A lot of villagers I either want or currently have on my island have very beige/white exteriors and I definitely want way more variety! I won't make them _all_ darker, but I love earthier tones and I plan to start remodeling some of them as soon as I can! That being said, when it comes to interiors, I don't want to change them too much. For some of them I might do huge turnarounds, but most of them I want to at least keep their original themes in mind when redecorating. (For example, I have Raymond on my island: I want to make his home feel more, well, homey, but I'll still keep some of the office stuff he currently has)

I’m actually more excited about remodeling the interior. My villagers exteriors are already pretty neutral, but I still have a couple of starter villagers. I’m also the type of person who likes to do villager requests, so sometimes a villager ends up gifting another villager furniture, but it’s always ugly furniture and they actually use it! And one of my villagers still has her Christmas tree up from last year lol 😆

I redesigned all of my villagers' homes, and now I love my daily house visits. I even like Pietro better whom I was about to give the boot. But his home look so great now that I think I'll keep him around. I do wish Nintendo would have let us expand the interior a bit.

Both of my original starting villagers (Phoebe and Buck) are going to be getting *major* interior and exterior make-overs! I've never been a fan of either of their exteriors (Phoebe's is just jarring; Buck's has rusting pipes) and of course they have the bad wood furniture and sleeping bag problem. I'm not sure what I'll do interior-wise for Buck's house, but Phoebe can finally have the firey palace she deserves!! I'm doing 1-3 houses a day in HHP; I haven't played in 11 months so I'm really glad to get the opportunity to practice decorating rooms and doing totally different themes than I'd pick myself, before touching any of my villagers' homes haha.

I'm really curious about if the villagers ever change their homes after you remodel them... What about items you've given them in the past, or give them after the remodel? What do they do when they need to put out a crafting bench or kitchen for recipes? Also, can we add extra rooms to them? It looked like you could change the size of the house, which is SO amazing!!

I just redecorated one of my villagers homes and I can confirm that although you can change the room size in the vacation homes once you unlock it, you can't change it in your island homes if that makes sense. But everything as far as lighting, and sounds go you can still do

When you design their interior, are you limited to what furniture you personally have in storage, or is it what you've unlocked with HHP?

Hhp gives you a set of furniture to work from! Every house you decorate the more furniture you can use

Yes I just renovated a villagers house and I recently started over so I didn’t have that many furniture options but when I renovated dobies house I had all the unlocked furniture from playing HHP!

I'm actually okay with the villager's exteriors (for Audie, I put her home on the beach. It fits perfectly), I'm mainly changing interiors to have kitchens and stuff.

Damn this DLC is such a godsent. Everything we wanted Happy Home designer to be back with New Leaf and even more. I lost my hope for New Horizons but this update really saved the game for me. It's like 2.0 Really was kind of the missing other halve of the game we thought we'd never get.
