This is called the Mickey Mouse layout by some of my friends. It is an expansion of the Safety Silo or Tower octagonal base design. It's strength is the ability to set up a kill room at the entrance between the "ears" and set up 360 security along the outer walls. The way it's being implemented here is a bit to cramped and small for what I would consider a good alpha base and there's a lack of wall fortification and structure support, but it is still quite functional and definitely viable for pve and I would recommend this as a build to go off of. It seems he's partially implemented the star design for the second floor instead of a simple balcony. This could be useful for defense if you take advantage of setting up archer stations. A separation between floors and rooms is advisable for pvp.
I honestly just make a square base, surrounded by layers of walls with less-valuable stuff further out. Ever seen Attack On Titan? I reference my bases off the wall idea. I also add fences at the top to prevent people from climbing over... I honestly need to check if anything is still up. I never got the chance to upgrade anything from sandstone, except for the doors.
Those inverted sloped walls can easily be build when building a floor beneath and putting just the sloped opposite on top of it, will snap instantly. But had a problem with one triangle floor not able to be placed before putting down a pillar last middle one straight to maproom from the main middle door. Nice PvE Build, if you are not in a rush, this is completely doable in about 3 weeks with benchens. For PvP it is not suited at all. but you can defend yourself very smooth against any purge if you build the bunkers all around in case you do not want to build next to a cliff. Thanks for your hard work!
You need to take more time when placing those ceilings/floors... they have arrows to show you direction... why not use them? Make them the same? ugh.. my OCD was going crazy.
Those angle pieces DO NOT cooperate at all. I tried to replicate the slanted tower thing and could not get the right or left sloping inverted walls to line up. had to modify.
I would not call this fully functional, but this would help as a template for an outpost, very defendable structure, but it's walls need to be thicker IMO still looks great though!
How can this be "fully functioning" without any crafting workstations? Smelters, blacksmiths, tanners, alchemy etc all take up significant floor space. I suppose if you're just going to admin console all of that in. But if you're going to console in all materials, then just summon your thralls and pets too. Love the aesthetic though. Got some clever ideas.
when i was building this master piece i accidentally deleted the map room and had to annihilate the layer of floors above the bottom to put it back down ;-; quick tip from my pain. avoid lol
I commented on another one of videos asking about the colors ...and structurally sound n u said it was just the angles ...turns out I was right bud ...those different colors are for structural integrity ..maybe use that knowledge for another build ..if it isn't structurally sound it takes more damage ..just a heads up to take ur building to the next level bro 👍
@@damagecase14 that wasn't what I was talking about but since we wanna be smart ass about it let me teach u a lil something about those non structural builds, all it takes is for one to go down and lose a lot more of ur building that follows from the chain reaction because that lil bit of support it was holding on to just got destroyed! Never said it was a major concern just something to think about for a future build of his and something I asked about previously when I was fairly new to the game that I just so happened to be right about ..who cares? Well some people on official servers might! The real question why do u care to watch this video if ur so PVP anyways 🤔😉😂 u must wipe ur ass before taking a dump huh? Since u obviously like to do pointless shit I guess
@@damagecase14 forgot to say this part but less structural integrity cause the damage multipliers to increase so not only will u lose things in a chain reaction but that piece can also be destroyed quicker/easier .. would kinda suck to have something u grinded for on that spot just to lose it from a purge that barely touch ur base 🤔
