Shortly after 4p on Memorial Day, multiple calls rang into the dispatch center reporting a house fire on Linwood St.
With heavy smoke showing from a distance, companies knew they would be going to work. The house was well involved upon arrival and a 2nd alarm was immediately struck.
Neighbors helped get an occupant out of one side of the duplex. Nobody was home on the other side. A dog and 2 cats perished.
The fire was brought under control in about an hour.

That's to bad that a couple of beloved pets were lost 😢 But a good thing that all occupant were able to get out in time and praise to the nabborors who were able to help get one of the residents out. Thank you to all firefighters everywhere for protecting the citizens of your coverage area.

Definitely too late to do much when you arrive and it's that bad. You know it will take several engines and a good water supply when the flames tornado out of the windows.

It was the explosion from the propane grill that was on our back deck that blew out the fence.

Just another reason to NEVER live in a duplex, one side catches fire,your side is also gone!

I am amazed that white car in the driveway didn't catch. Given the amount of collapse evident on the Charlie side, I would have thought a wider collapse zone would have been established. The interior attack on the Alpha side through the front doors seemed an unnecessary risk, given the apparent total loss. Great coverage, Sparky!

I'm guessing the house was also older because of how fast that seemed to burn. Wow, good video as well I hope owner's get through this ok.
@whowey100
@whowey100 Год назад
Houses made with modern materials burn much faster than ones built with legacy materials. The difference tends to be in construction method. Older homes tend to lack fire stops in the walls, or those stops have been cut through for plumbing, hvac, electrical, etc.
@VaporheadATC
@VaporheadATC Год назад
@@whowey100 I would think the wood would be much drier in older homes then newer. Newer homes (in the past few decades) use light construction, where roof trusses, etc. use webbed nail plates which are inferior to using traditional nailing methods. These nail plates will completely fail when exposed to fire, causing roof collapse.

@sparkywfd I'm glad they got the human out yet the 'babbies' didn't make it. I hope the smoke got to them first and not the fire. 😿It's always my first question when watching things like this. "did everyone (incluging pets)make it out?" Thank you for answering before I asked.

It must have been an impressive looking house. In the end it was just a cheap 2x6's and plastic matchbox. It is unbelievable why people in the USA accept those third world living conditions.

When a structure is so far gone why bother to try to extinguish the fire..just let it go.

So, when you build that dream home, make sure it's WAY out in the middle of nowhere, so far away the FD has to use GPS to find it. Also, make sure there are no hydrants within reach.
