In memory of a statesman, father and Austrian hero. A video on the funeral of Engelbert Dollfuss (4 October 1892 - 25 July 1934) Engelbert Dollfuss was an Austrian politician that established a authoritarian Catholic State after the parliament became completely dysfunctional. He united multiple political parties and movements into the Fatherlandfront, introduced a Corporative economic system and established a new constitution based on Catholic social teaching. His government outlawed the Communists, Socialists and Nazis. He was murdered on the 25th of July 1934 during a failed Nazi coup.
When people think of "fascism" they ought to consider such men as Engelbert Dollfuss, Jozef Tiso, and Corneliu Codreanu as they are far better representatives of its principles. However it's precisely because of this fact that they are ignored.
@Shotgunmad xl The church has weathered hard times and awful popes before. I am fairly optimistic when it comes to the future. Some decades ago it seemed impossible for blessed Emperor Charles to be beatified.
We will see you again at the Golden Gates, Dollfuss. Then, when we shake your hand after greeting Saint Peter, we will assure you we did Austria proud with all the dedication we had, just like you did.
honor and respect for Dollfuss. For me, he was a great statesman, at the level of Metternich and Cavour and the same I think of Schuschnigg. After Anschluss, Mussolini and Ciano helped, even financially, his family to expatriate and secure themselves, first in Switzerland and then in the USA. They also tried to expatriate Schuschnigg, but the Prussians didn't even want to talk about him.
@@unclesam5230 As the American Caesar with my utmost benevolence Uncle Sam; take an example like Franco who combined Conservatives, Traditionalists, Monarchists, and Fascists, etc. all into one unifying force; they all had the same goal, rationale, and objective. That objective was killing Commies, Liberal Republicans, Anarchists, Syndicalists, etc. 😎
Absolutely stunning video, as always. Heartbreaking to know that this man was murdered in cold blood, and even denied his last rites by some of the most evil men on Earth. I was fortunate enough to visit his grave site in Hietzing cemetary in Vienna. Sadly, it wasn't as proud and ornate as I had hoped it to be (but honestly, that's probably better, as if it's less showy, less of a chance of it getting vandalized)
Guess that's why he put the links in the description. ;) In short Engelbert Dollfuss was an Austrian politician that established a authoritarian Catholic State after the parliament became completely dysfunctional. I just wanted to say. Cato, I know it was you on discord. I'm guessing you don't want to be known, but I just wanted to say back when I had this ideology you were a big inspiration.
I went down this rabbit hole and found the 1st Austrian Republic adopted Reichswehr uniforms after WW1. Dollfuss reintroduced Austro-Hungarian uniforms as part of his anti-Anschluss 'Austrianisation' policies.
Nazi soldiers attempting a coup, supported by hitler until the coup was defeated and he backed down under pressure from Mussolini (who had promised to protect austrian independence)
The British. After further investigations by the Italian Government after the War had already began. The Nazi's being behind it was a story fabricated post-war, to further incriminate the Reich. Among, other things.
