There's also a voice recording of her, captured in one of those really ancient cylindrical contraptions, but the sound quality is so bad that you can only make out a few words here and there out of the entire thing.
@@PaperclipClips Yes I heard it also. It’s so frustrating because the quality is so poor. I hope, I know there’ll be technology soon that can digitally enhance her voice recording. She passed away at the very moment the new invention started.

Lph : Prince George, his father Prince William, his grandfather King Charles III, his great grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, his great great grandfather King George VI, his great great granduncle King Edward VIII, his great great great grandfather King George V, his great great great great grandfather King Edward VII, his great great great great great grandmother Queen Victoria. WOW what a royal ancestry for this young royal prince.
@@herondelatorre4023 The Wikipedia article on the new Princess of Wales mentions descent from Edward III and Edward IV (the latter through an illegitimate descendant) on her mother's side.
@@jadapinkett1656Actually, the "never dies" refers to the reign of the queens and the kings, their reign are their whole life. unlike president which will change every year depending on the country. Anyway this is my opinion and assumption so this arent rlly right
@@sillycado I thought it meant to refer the whole "King is dead, long life the king!" thing, as in the second a monarch passes, the title with all its power is transferred to the person next in line of succession. There isn't a moment where there is no monarch, at least to my knowledge.
Wonderful footage of H. M. Queen Victoria!! I love the Monarchy. It feels so right as the form of Government. I was born in Italy and went to the UK for formal education. I live across the pond, but still love my late Queen Elizabeth II, but I am found of the new King & Queen. H. M. Queen Victoria Born: 24 May 1819 & reigned 20 June 1837 - 22 Jan. 1901 H. M. Queen Elizabeth II funeral almost killed me! My heart was heavy. They broke the news to me at work as though I lost my own mother! RIP Queen Elizabeth.😢❤
Elizabeth II was the last monarch. The death of the Queen marks the end of an era. From now on the British monarchy is like every other European monarchy, just tradition and cosmetic.
It never even occurred to me that there was film footage of Victoria... or that her funeral was even filmed. Wow... it's kind of wild to realize how young the whole concept of moving pictures is even though I've grown up with it... and also like really highlights how recent history actually is. The past isn't as so far removed as we think it is... the invention of the camera, be it for still photography or cinematography really was a monumental game changer. Sure we have paintings of Abe Lincoln, but we also have photographs of the man (and isn't that wild, he was president of the United States in Victoria's lifetime. Only 36 years separate his death and her's.)
Wow you can really see charles in edward here. I always thought charles looked alot like his father but i actually think looking back at footage like this that he physically seems to take alot of his resemblance from his mothers uncle edward (and ever so slightly his grandad - king george, but onlyslightly. Its definitely more so looking more like edward that george out of the two. Interesting! I think its a combo. He takes his physical and facial features from his mothers male side (specifically edward) but also takes his own fathers manarisms, posture and attitude and movement
Victoria’s funeral was the last big one before the monarchies were swept aside in the next few years..Portugal,Spain,Germany,Russia and Austria-Hungary.
Actually, that was Edward VII's funeral I'm 1910. World War 1 started four years later. Many of the Russian Imperial Family were executed. The royal families of Germany and Austria-Hungary either abdicated or were deposed.
@Katheryne Koelker Expect for the Spanish monarchy. It didn't end until 13 yrs after WWI in 1931. Then 44 yrs later the Spanish monarchy was restored in 1975 and still exist in 2023.
@@herondelatorre4023 point l am making is that the following few years anti monarchy feelings swept through Europe and republicanism prevailed…Monarchies declined and were destroyed.
Is it just me or this is a weird coincidence the queen died in 2022 Princess Margaret and the queen mother died in 2002 Edward VIII died in 1972 George VI died in 1952 Why does all of those deaths happen in years with 2 at the end of them
Yes - while there remains on-going debate on that subject, may I first clear up any further confusion (I am sure unintentionally) introduced by @paulb54. By Mendelssohn it definitely isnt. While it is frequently attributed to Beethoven - and as often introduced as such (or described that way in magazine articles or Google etc), the general consensus is that it is by a little-known German conductor, Johann Heinrich Walch. I have not double checked this as I write, but am confident enough in this answer to suggest that if you search for Walch's Funeral March in B Flat Minor - on RU-vid, Apple Music etc etc - you will consistently find the piece which accompanies this clip. I hope this helps both you and your other correspondent. Edit - since writing to you, i have been obsessing to find a recording which i think does it justice - which has proved immensely (and surprisingly) difficult to do. For a simple two step, slow march which primarily is a funeral piece although I have heard it at the Cenotaph in Remembrance Day, little variation of interpretation would seem possible - and yet apparently there is, many of which totally misrepresent the tremendous, spine-tingling portentousness and pathos of this magnificent composition. In these matters, it is of course always a matter of personal taste (although I grit my teeth while saying so as, without my politically correct hat on, I would equally contend some tastes are better than others...) - and in that spirit, may I say that the one accompanying this clip is as good as it gets - pity the channel didnt provide its source. I did however, find this which plays it in full and I think does it justice. Link below. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0N2EUXuEbnY.html
@@enlilw-l2 there were a few others though that were never officially recognised even though history has shown that they were monarchs over England. Louis Vlll of France was actually King Of England for 1 year and 111 days and he actually did have a coronation which was attended by King Alexander of Scotland. The Barons who forced John to sign Magna Carta and several figures within the senior clergy of England. Not sure whether the then Archbishop of Canterbury was one of the Bishops though ? Then there’s the Empress Matilda who also ruled very briefly. Edward V..... never crowned. Then Lady Jane Grey. And as far as abdication goes. Richard ll was forced to abdicate. And both Henry Vl And Edward lV who as we know had a back and forth tussle of the crown of England. But as far as Great Britain as a whole......only Edward Vlll.
