The Funicolare Zecca-Righi in the Italian port town of Genoa opened between 1895 and 1897 and connects the square Largo della Zecca on the edge of the old town with the hillside district of Righi. Originally divided into two seperate sections, the line has been rebuilt as a single section funicular between 1963 and 1965. The two carriages meet each other in the middle station San Nicola. While the upper half of the route is above ground and has three intermediate stops, the lower half of the route is almost completely located in the underground with the exception of Carbonara station.The line has a total length of 1428 meters and rises 279 meters.
Genoa itself is definitely a special city. The densely populated urban area stretches more than 30 kilometers along the Mediterranean Sea on the Gulf of Genoa. In the direction of the mountainous north however, the city sometimes ends after several hundred meters. This results in a spectacular and lively city complex with countless tunnels, bridges, lifts and several mountain railways - always in the focus: the huge port, from which the ferry trip continues to Tunisia, Morocco, Sardinia or Corsica.

Die Funicolare Zecca-Righi ist eine 1895 bis 1897 eröffnete Standseilbahn in der italienischen Hafenstadt Genua. Sie verbindet den Platz Largo della Zecca am Rande der Altstadt mit dem Hügelbezirk Righi. Ursprünglich in zwei seperate Abschnitte unterteilt, kann die Bahn seit 1965 durchgehend befahren werden. Die beiden Wagen begegnen sich dabei in der Station San Nicola. Während die obere Hälfte der Strecke oberirdisch verläuft und drei Zwischenstopps aufweist, wird die untere Streckenhälfte bis auf die Zwischenstation Carbonara unterirdisch geführt.
Die insgesamt 1428 Meter lange Strecke überwindet 279 Höhenmeter.
Genua selbst ist in vielerlei Hinsicht eine besondere Stadt. Über mehr als 30 Kilometer erstreckt sich das dichte Bebauungsband entlang des Mittelmeers am gleichnamigen Golf von Genua. In Richtung des gebirgigen Hinterlandes hingegen endet die Stadt teilweise bereits nach mehreren hundert Metern. Heraus kommt ein spektakuläres und lebendiges Stadtensemble mit unzähligen Tunneln, Brücken, Aufzügen und mehreren Bergbahnen - stets im Mittelpunkt: der riesige Hafen, von dem die Reise per Fähre weiter nach Tunesien, Marokko, Sardinien oder Korsika gehen kann.

Originariamente suddiviso in due sezioni distinte, la linea è stata ricostruita come una funicolare di una singola sezione tra il 1963 e il 1965. Le due carrozze si incontrano tra loro nella stazione centrale di San Nicola. Mentre la metà superiore del percorso è al di sopra del terreno e presenta tre fermate intermedie, la metà inferiore dell'itinerario è quasi interamente posizionata nel sottosuolo ad eccezione della stazione Carbonara. La linea ha una lunghezza totale di 1428 metri e sale 279 metri.
Genova in sé è sicuramente una città speciale. L'area urbana densamente popolata si estende per oltre 30 chilometri lungo il Mar Mediterraneo sul Golfo di Genova. In direzione del nord montuoso tuttavia, la città a volte termina dopo diverse centinaia di metri. Ciò si traduce in un complesso spettacolare e vivace della città con innumerevoli gallerie, ponti, impianti di risalita e numerose ferrovie di montagna - sempre in mente: il porto enorme, da dove il traghetto continua a Tunisia, Marocco, Sardegna o Corsica.
