It feels so nostalgic looking back on the older episodes of Wakfu. The simple old days where they just had silly little adventures; fighting villains of the week, helping out townsfolk, exploring dungeons, winning competitions, etc. And now we have world-ending stakes, terrifying godlike adversaries, romantic drama, trauma and betrayal, tragedy and impending doom. I’m not complaining or anything, I’m just noting how insane the contrast is 😂
@@Choosafunga777 You mean this?: Yugo uses the dofus to help Percedal> accidentally creates Oropo> Oropo is sent back in time and orchestrates Nox finding the Cube as well as Dathura betraying Ogrest> Ogrest floods the world and kicks out the gods> Nox loses his family to the flood and goes crazy> Nox defeated and the Cube releases Qilby> Qilby nearly destroys world with Shushu army> Ogrest threatens Sadida kingdom> Percy fights Ogrest> Yugo uses the dofus to help him> repeat I’ve been out of touch with the lore for a little while, so have I missed anything???
Well, technically, the silly little adventures of season 1 were mostly imposed by the tv channel where Wakfu aired, they forced Ankama to create a childish series that every kid could start and follow from almost every episode despite them wanting at first to create a more serious adventure from the start until the end (and that's also because of this tv channel that Ankama couldn't give Yugo an adult appearance because "childs have to recognize themselves in the character" even though those who saw Wakfu grew up too since then)
@@phantom9831 I did not know that. In hindsight I think it was a good decision to have Yugo look younger. Kinda gives him that underdog vibe and makes it more impressive when he acts like a leader.
@@Choosafunga777 Well, Ankama went along with it and even found a way to make it relevant to the plot (such as because he's a demi-god with draconic blood, he ages way slower than a regular personà and even use it in an interesting way (his complicated relationship with Amalia). But they wanted to create heroes that grows up throughout the story, and given how popular Tristepin is by comparison, because fans have seen him as a teenager a bit supid that love to fight, to one of the best father figures. And I can see your point about Yugo, but in the third season, he wasn't that much of a leader, or rather, the Brotherhood of the Tofu don't really have a leader
It's been a while since I watched this show, but the Eliatropes are space aliens from a distant star, right? So he literally is the Voice from the Outer World.
Early Wakfu is so funny because a bunch of the episodes has the main cast going "come on, this time we'll make progress but for real" before getting sidetracked by a quest 12 seconds later.
I watch the English version but no matter what language it is in, its the one of funniest scenes. If you haven't watch wakfu I recommend it because its great and a lot of funny references from other franchise.
@@ZackagonXM I have watched the English version so many times. That, I have started to watch the French version with subtitles. It is very great. I heard the original version is better than the English version. The original version is the French, and they were right.
Im with you on the english, i tried french and although it fits better and the sound effects are louder, I grew up with the english version and even though it has its problems i find the voices endearing and it reminds me of when I was younger and crushing on Evangeline
Personally, I didn't enjoy it because of the fact that nothing seems to change, and because the villains seem very incompetent. I haven't watched super far, but it seemed like there was no change incoming - people do a ring, and they aren't changed by it one bit. If I may ask, what interests you about the show? I don't judge people for different tastes, I am curious about what other people enjoy about something that I didn't
I love this scene even to this day~. In the time that Yugo spent with them since he left home to this point, he knew exactly how they all ticked and what makes them go with what he wants to do~. Amalia with some relaxation and pampering, Ruel with some money, and Tristapan with some thrills and excitment~. And, of course, with Evangeline being the "smart and sensable" one, knowing it ain't even worth trying so she's the odd one out and has to tag along. For a kid, Yugo is a freaking genius~!!!
In the timeskip after... was it the 2nd or 3rd season? Either way, after the timeskip she somehow magically loses her hip ratio and somehow looks younger than she does here (She is 14-15 here, in the timeskip she is 22). No clue how or why they made her less shapely when she grows up. One would have thought she would have filled out nicely as an adult. Instead she just looks... meh. Maybe it was an attempt to appeal to wider audience, which makes no sense since the rest of the story is just as wak(-fu) as the rest of the seasons. Elf girls remains herself at least, with some extra packages of surprises which I won't spoil.
@@Elmithian I don't remember her loosing her hip ratio, though if she did they would have kept her the same but just taller to appeal to a wider audience rather than not, since she would look more attractive with wider hips. If they really did make that change that would be odd as you say indeed.
Today I was reminded that my preference for black/tan girls started way earlier than I thought it did.... when I was just a kid, and this show just happened to be playing.
This is the 1st of anything I’ve seen of wakfu that isn’t fanmade vids on adult websites. This is, definitely not wat I expected the show to look like. I think I’ll stick to enjoying the occasional r18 vid.

@@samuelkodio5849 well, that definitely was a surprise. For me, in terms of visual appeal for wakfu it’s like this rn, after watching those vids u linked. Art style/quality: 4. I’ve seen worse but it’s not all too nice looking. Character and others design: 8. I might even be lowballing this 1 but they actually have rather gud designs. Animation: 2-9. Bro, they can’t even make up there damn mind, do they want some of the shittiest looking animation, or some of the best in the industry? Like 80-90% of the vids u linked, the animation put into them was fucking gud as hell. But this vid above, and the rest of the vids (10-20%) I had watched r fucking atrocious. The fact that the bad animation makes the bad art look even worse then it really is is kinda almost impressive. Overall (remember I haven’t watched much of this show): 5-7, or by my personal standards: 4-5. I still don’t think I cud find myself enjoying this show bcuz of the art and the animation on the low end.
@@baileydombroskie3046 well for the animation I have a few comments: 1) this little bit of animation right there is from 2008. 2) this episode is also one of the earlier ones, when they were still trying to figure out the animation because 3) the company responsible for this show (Ankama Animations) have been created in 2007, Wakfu being its first and longest-running project, made by mostly animators who got out of school. When you're looking at wakfu you're basically looking at those manga where the art improved drastically with time because the authors progressively got the hang of it. (they made some amazing stuff, like the pretty recent Princesse Dragon, which I hope one day I'll be able to find online to gush about)
@@baileydombroskie3046 Season 1 came out in 2008 my guy and by 08 standards it was about on par with everything else that was coming out back then..... now look at season 3 and 4
@@DribDaerbwhen looking for h*ntai, it is very probably that you will see the elf girl (Eva) and the tanned girl (amalia) as well. The commenter is *definitely* referring to p*rn, i have little to no doubt of it
I just started learning French and you reminded me that this was originally a French cartoon, I'm going to have such a nostalgia trip while learning! Thanks!
@@trollman_2345 Well if you're talking about that one, then no, they weren't adult at that time, if we see it as if it really did happened, then it was during the first season, so yeah, there's an issue.
@@SpiceHoundG partially due to being forcefully [redacted] and possessed by a demon, only to be willingly unpossessed by said demon, only to find out he is [redacted], which the demon knew. I mean, that kind of events are going to leave a lasting mark. At this point, does his body count as undead, part-demon, or [redacted]? And, since he regularly undergoes transformations while getting possessed/unpossessed, some lasting change wouldn't be anything new to him.
That shit has a super bizarre animation style. I'm french but even I never really got used to it. Now that I think about it, it has the same kinda fluidity as vtubers animation whenever they make a movement
Im convinced that if the french made a joke language to teach non french speakers so they can laugh at them behind their backs, absolutely no one would figure it out.
I've heard of wakfu and know about some of it's plot, but never had the chance to actually watch. But my goodness, the animation is some kinda combo of clunky and smooth, I find it almost hynpotic.
I loved this show so much as a kid, kinda lost me on later seasons but the start is very near and dear to my hearth. I will always remember that one episode when the old man begs for his God to save them promising to double his offerings if he does, then the skies part a light shines on him and a booming voice says "the double of 0 is still 0, you can rot you miserly old man" 😂 I watched spanish dub and I must say I liked the voices in spanish more, they felt more distinct than here.
I REMEMBER WATCHING THIS SHOW WHEN I WAS YOUNGER! I completely forgot its name and everything though. I only knew the character designs, and that was it! Thanks for helping me remember this show!
Fun fact in the Brazilian dub Yugo was voiced by the same VA that did young Konohamaru, Young Gohan and Young Goten. Also completely unrelated but in the same dub Tristapan is called Percival
@@TheUSgoverment it's a very niche style of animation and for me it's just hard to look at. I didn't grow up with Newgrounds animations either and I find a lot of those hard to look at as well. With my example of Code Lyoko I admit that the 3d animation is weird and the style is even weirder. For me, the difference is that I had a long time to grow with it and accept it whereas this show's animation is too strange for comfort to me. But hey I'll never knock animators, at the end of the day they do something that I can't: Animate. It doesn't mean that I have to enjoy looking at it though.
Tried to get a friend into wakfu, they got bored of so many sidequests and couldn't finish it (said it was like Beach City episodes from Steven Universe where nothing happens lol,) This clip feels like the creators knew Yugo & co got sidetracked alot and were making fun of it, personally I like it.
J'aime la façon dont il savait que rien ne convaincrait Eva, alors il a simplement fait pencher la balance pour mettre toutes les autres personnes de son côté. Un garçon intelligent.
i used to watch this, forgot it existed, i also forgot how much spleen-ing they used, maybe I'll rewatch it, after a certain point I didn't know what was going on but I was quite young
i have absolutely no idea what show this is, but the clip _is_ funny by itself (i especially like the last bit) the artstyle also looks cool now i gotta look this stuff up and probably end up with another rabbit hole and hyper-fixation to deal with -wish me luck-
2 things. 1. Reading subtitles for french is harder than most. Idk if its because it sounds so much like english its hard to read while they are saying something different or what. 2. French sounds like a joke language. Like someone made it up to make a fool of someone trying to speak it.
