@Paul he was saying how the men would be sad cause a hot woman (and thats an understatement) is no longer available for any other guy but that women would hardly be bothered by james not being available
@Paul The previous thing he said was that it's a sad day for single men because they won't ever get to date or marry the beautiful girl. He said for the single ladies today passed by without much of a ripple meaning nobody cares because the man is ugly lol. A ripple is a small wave that happens as a result when a small object drops into still water
@Paul "Ripple" is a drink favored by some lower-class folk, and since there was a ban on it at the time, not much of it was going to be consumed. It's history-based; hardly a surprise you'd not get it.
@@z00h are you being serious? That's not exactly a look of lust. Women look, observe.. A woman looking you up and down is not necessarily looks of adoration.
Thatz what friendship is all about. What better moment in life u get when u raise a toast for your best friend on his wedding... Amazing speech and toast!!! Bravo.
+jonathan knight - Hey Jonathan, glad you liked it and thanks for commenting. Good luck with your speech!! Still seems like yesterday I gave mine. All the best.
Good speech, and well delivered. There are 3 general elements to a good wedding speech: 1. Intro - welcome everyone and thank them for coming 2. 3 stories - funny, touching, sentimental 3. Wrap - be sure to include what the Bride and Groom want you to say Be confident, relaxed, practiced, and you’ll deliver a great speech. Well done.
As the groom was introducing the best man, he stated, "...it gives me immense pleasure to hand over to Ian". Good effort mate, but your face was saying, "....it gives me fear and trepidation to hand over to Ian". But thrilled the bride and groom have the ability to laugh at themselves and positively amazing senses of humor. This vid is so old, no one will ever read it and that's probably for the best. 😁
Watch this video every now and then and the "from all the girls at the Fantasy Palace" kills me every time. Hope they are still mates and keeping well.
Hi Instantramen - He he many thanks for your comment. Im not sure my wife thinks Im very funny though!!. Immature maybe but not funny lol!! Take care and thanks alot for taking the time to comment.
I've given about a half-dozen (hopefully humorous) wedding speeches over the last several years and I make it a point to listen to other people's speeches at weddings, mainly to see if I can learn new material. Your speech is one of the funniest speeches I've ever heard. The material is great, but your delivery is what really charms the audience.
Hey nfredthia - I may have looked calm like a duck on the surface but underneath my legs were flapping and my heart was beating out of my chest. The crowd loved it though so I think I pulled it off ok!! Good luck with your next one!! ))
hahaha brilliant! The "funny how history repeats itself" moment made me cry, I knew it was coming but still it got me 😂 And for those of you that have chosen to spit your acid in the comments about the groom's appearance or about how it's just a cringe speech etc, I've been around long enough to know that it's *all* coming from a place of envy and of failure in *your* life! So you crack on, nobody cares!
I love this! I watched it all the way through and laughed until I cried. You did a hell of a job man. Hope you guys have a long and wonderful marriage. Truly fantastic!
Ryan Willes Is English your first language? We enjoy using commas and quotation marks, please give them a try. Also, we would never say 'my few braincells I have left' but rather 'the few brain cells I have left'. Good luck with the brain situation Ryan.
Being a Best Man at my friends forthcoming wedding next April 2018 ,I've been checking out a lot of speeches on here and it's clear to been seen just how many are titled "Funniest of Greatest", which aren't practically that funny. Some of the lines are the same which you "Rennyboy 123" also use, but the difference is the way it is delivered. Although you seem to be very much at ease with your material, but your timing is spot on. You're not always looking down on your bit's of paper, you are looking up at the audience. Your speech is very well rehearsed and that to me is what makes this best man speech far more superior to the others that are on RU-vid. I was in stiches listening to this, the material was fantastic, not too long, not too short, it was just right being around 15 mins long. It's delivery and execution was spot on. Well done mate.
I am a Father of the Bride in January so in a similar situation to your good self. I also found myself looking at wedding speeches, that`s when I stumbled on this chap. Obviously more is expected from the best man than the FOTB. He is just the warm up for the Groom and Best man. Good luck Mark, I hope it goes well my friend ;-)
Clay Pigeon Preservation Society (CPPS) hahahaha. Great speech Ian. The opener where you mentioned that you were under pressure to perform because James said you could be his best man at his next wedding if you did a good job had me in bits, as did the "bangin' and screwin' bit.
Preparation is the key to any half decent speech. Im a worrier so rather than sit and worry I started writing the speech about 6 months before the wedding and slowly it all came together. Shame about the baby crying but we all had such a fab day ))))
watched a lot of videos this is by far one if not the best iv seen rennyboy123 you done a cracking job, and the wedding venue looks amazing aswell as bride and groom hope they are living a happy life
Hey Ryan - Cheers for the comment - I did take a while to put the speech together so really glad you liked it. It was a pretty big wedding so I put as much effort into it as possible!!
That looks a hell of a lot like the place John Watson and Mary Watson had their reception in Sherlock! Love this so much, its very cute :) Best of wishes!
wow..this is the speech that EVERYONE , who's ever been best man wished he'd made...I have watched this clip dozens of times and never thought to comment, ..I have got to say , that your a naturally funny guy, with great timing I might add...I agree with all the positive comments that people have made, but what makes this clip so brilliant for me is the way the happy couple both look at you...no amount of money can buy that look, her's says ''oh he's a bit of a bugger '' his says '' I'm gunna kill him ''..but you just know that they both love you....I assume the grooms speech was next, your speech was impossible to follow, poor guy..........none of my comments are very macho I know...but hey ho...I really hope your all still together and still as happy as when this was filmed...somehow even the baby screaming seemed to help put me in the room laughing and clapping along with everyone else
Hi John - really glad you have enjoyed the speech - Thankfully my speech was the last one so James didn't get the chance to get his own back!!! All the best and thanks for taking the time to comment!
I gotta say that i watched in silence and tears of laughter , thinking this Groom is losing his will to live .... hahahaha well done mate what a speech , best i have ever heard and trust me i will not be hearing one any better soon ..... TOP MAN
I am getting married in july 2016 and I have been watching loads of speech videos. You hear the same jokes being cracked in most of them. This 1 however most of the jokes seem original and very funny. Easily the best speech I have watched.
I would like to thank you for such an entraining speech I keep returning to this when am feeling down , yet by the time it ends am in fits of laughter it helps during these difficult times such as now.. I hope the bride and groom and yourself are keeping safe and well Regards Terry xx
Hi, just wanted to say thanks for uploading the video. I was best man on Saturday, I used a few lines from your speech and some of the structure, it helped enormously. Many thanks again, very grateful. I was petrified but it went down a storm :-) As you said on a previous comment, for anyone doing this prepare months before and practise it over and over, the speech naturally evolves.
I've been researching BM speeches in preparation for my own in a few months. I've seen a ton of them and this is likely the best Ive seen so far! Your friendship with the groom seems to be just like my best friend and I. Down to me being the one that roasts him while he is embarassed, yet knew this was coming, haha
I so enjoyed watching your Best Man speech and it reminded me of the friendship have with my best friend. Your true admiration for James came through in your words (and experiences). I pray that he and Claire as well as you and Louise are all well.
