Awesome video very helpful. Thank you for keeping everything in the video. So many people just cut to it being done and testing but I like the meat and potatos and appreciate you showing everything you go through and that everything doesn't always just fall into place. 👍
Just followed across from Tomley and i like your channel, loads of good vids which we will work our way thru. Great upgrade, cool wee thing. New sub :)
That is the first up close look I have seen of the Kyosho Mini-Z. I think it will be a great performer. And I have always loved the look of their bodies! Great video brother!
Informative video. I was looking at adding a Furitek to my Kyosho Jimny. Sleekun makes a 3D printed kit for an electronics mount and a mount for a regular 3 wire servo. I use his body lift kit and adaptors for 1.0 wheels. I haven't seen any other installs of the Furitek yet
Any issues with your gears after a while? Seemed too much of a gap. Also did you use the smaller side of that motor case? Seemed impossible to squeeze the wires through it
You have probably already figured this out, but when I installed my furitek brushless system in my SCX24, it was stuttering like that until i used the bluetooth capability on the ESC to update the firmware...runs buttery smooth now!
So I was reading through the comments, are you saying the engine tick sound went away with the fw update? Any tips on what kind of changes if any you made in the app? Great video though. I just did full conversion with the Akashi and new servo too.
Cool video, gosh I’ve been back and forth about the conversion. You should try two 3.7 volt AAA batteries plus two dummy batteries in your 4 runner. Helps the servo and speed. Love my mini z 4x4. The stock motor with the upgraded AAAs isn’t bad. My mini z weighs a full pound and performs great. Thanks for the video!
Right on, it’s all about the servo with the mini z 4x4. If you happen to try those 3.7 v AAAs. Let me know how it compares to the furitek conversion. Slow crawl looked better and the servo looked really fast. The 3.7 v battery upgrade was one of the best upgrades I did for my mini z. Tires, shocks and the batteries were my top 3 game changers for the mini z. Metal steering linkage helped a lot as well. I got a little carried away and upgraded just about everything, lol.
@@thedailykrawl7084 Do you have bigger tires on your rig? I am also going back and forth on my mind on getting this conversion. But if the AAA mod changed the way stock servo works I'm down for that to try it out. I have all my mini z brass and aluminium so it's quite heavy and my stock servo is struggling with the brass weights and 1.0 wheels and tires.
@@juancarlosdelcid9984 the servo still struggles but it is better. Mine weighs exactly one pound. I have a set of hyrax tires. The motor that comes stock isn’t bad. I glued my slipper clutch together when I first got it. After adding all the weight the motor stripped out my axle gears 3 different times before I bought a new set of slipper clutch gears. So having a ton of extra torque doesn’t really mean much because of the slipper clutch and the weak inner axles. I’ve seen ways on how to change out the esc and servo and keep the layout somewhat the same. The batteries help but it’s not a complete fix. Plus you’ll get a little extra wheel speed. More volts means more power.
@@thedailykrawl7084 thanks for sharing. I just swapped the motor for a mini z speed house awd that is for the drifters and it totally changed the power of the car. It adds a bit of more punch and speed and I'm happy with that extra punch to it. The only issue is the servo that barely can handle my 1.0 wheels and tires.
An Emaxx is the right size but the servo in the Kyosho has a weird proprietary mounting system, there are some 3D printed standard servo adapters that I could get so I can mount a better servo but I haven’t gotten that far yet lol
Great video! I'm considering doing all of these upgrades. I would like to buy that Dumbo esc since it seems to fit well. Just curious what remote you are using. Also considering buying a nice receiver like a flysky. Would that be able to pair? Sorry for all of the questions. I'm new to this
I am happy to answer all questions I can! The dumborc receivers is great but it can only pair to a dumborc remote to my knowledge, most remotes and receivers only work with their own brands, flysky is an awesome brand too though and has even smaller receivers, they are just a bit more expensive.
I'm about to pick up all the furitek stuff for my 4runner miniz. My one question right now is do I still use the stock transmitter or do I need the furitek one as well?
@@UpperLeftRC thanks for the quick reply. I want to thank you for your videos as well. Your videos are helping me start modding my Mini-z 4Runner and Jeep
