If you remove the material from the filter and keep the bayonet plastic ring and attach it to the filter and pop a water bottle cap into it it seals perfect, the cap actually snaps in place. You get a perfect seal. You quickly discover you have to in and exhale a few times to get the valves working.

no cleaning, no shaking out. 6035 may be better. For sterilization - hermetically seal the filter in a plastic bag and put it in a steam bath for... 15 minutes. and some kind of high voltage generator could be useful for electrostatically recharging the filter

No but good idea, did end up using this with lint and some other dusty stuff and it does seem to work.

Yeah tbh this is not a 7000 clone but a 6000 clone but yeah the real 3M masks are far far better.

I don't know how well that would work with particulate filters as I already have Isoamyl Acetate but that cannot be used with particle filters, just vapour filters. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Denatonium benzoate is a solid, usually sold as a fine fluffy white powder. When dispersing a concetrated solution of it via an atomizer, it should produce an extremely fine dust, depending on concentration and drop size, after the solvent evaporates. Maybe a filler material would be a good idea, as it can be quite overwhelming in its potency, and could lead to a false positive from even just the permitted 0.05%. Of course you could also just let it dry out completely and disperse it by other means, might not get as fine though. That said, i strongly recommend handling it as a solution wherever possible to avoid spreading the dust. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denatonium I could run some tests with one of my Dräger 89 ABEK2-Hg-P3 if you'd like, maybe see which concentrations are reliable enough. Im a little busy at the moment though, and working with the stuff needs some careful preparation. Last time i handled it, i seriously couldnt eat any finger food for more than a week, no matter how much i scrubbed my hands.

Don't worry about it, I wouldn't bother getting anything that nasty to test if this cheap mask works properly.

Already binned the shit filters as they were leaking everywhere, but good ideas, does seem to work though as have used it a few times since filming this for nuisance dust and I don't start sneezing or wheezing so it's good enough for DIY use.

Well the masks are pretty basic and straightforward but yes the Chinese filters are awful.

It's probably very hard to stop sellers, lots of illegal stuff gets sold on eBay, many people just make brand new accounts if the old one is shut down, so someone selling bootleg/copied equipment would be able to get away with it for even longer.

@@Weaponsandstuff93 yep pretty much, it ebay can tackle it if they really wanted to. Also take a look at the vid I just uploaded pulling one apart, some one commented saying this is what a legitimate 3M filter would be built like. What do you think?

Well I can't really recommend anywhere if you don't want to use eBay, can you find a US M40 mask in a surplus store for $30?

Yes they are P100/P3 so assuming someone is not coughing into your filter it would work.

I must point out first that i got the M 7502, as the air flow draws more from the bottem of the mask. the filter is a 6001cn "organic vapour" watching your video mentioning the diffrence between filtering particles and vapour - for solder i need to look into it. I smell a little bit of solder through the mask but it seems pressure tight, after putting it on i get a fat vein bulge on my forehead probably cuz air flow is reduced w/ mask. The main issue is the strap that goes over your head can detach from the mask easily and will fall off, very dangerous if this was used with somthing more toxic. i paid £15, however on screwfix, i think the mask and same filter was £45 o.o somethings up. !

I know of the K1 but I've never seen one for sale at reasonable prices.

Totally depends, if we include all "bootleg" masks loads of Russian masks shouldn't work but they do.

@Flawrence Isenhart It would depend on the type of gas, it's why NBC or ABEK-P3 type filters are recommended as they cover several types of vapour threats.

I have a question: - When I worked in a Factory, where I have the option to wear a Half Face 3M Respirator, with filters on it ( Sadly, I don't know the filter type, but I guarantee it's not just a simple P3 filter like what you have in this video) Some portion of my coworkers back than sayed a very not logical thing about wear a respirator weekdays (5 day / week) 8 hours/ day: "You going to damage/get a disease, because you wear a respirator almost half a day, and it's healthy if you wear that respirator only 3 hour (Without joke, I don't think is logical what they saying, but I have a question). If someone wearing a half face gas mask very commonly (8 hours a day, minimum 5 day/week), there is any health risk around? Can I get any type of disease? (Of course, I washed back then the respirator before work, if not all the time I cleaned with some proper cleaner, but minimum with water mixed with hand soap.) (Sorry if I killed your several hunders of your braincells, I know you are not a specialist about respiratory diseases, I just wanted to know your opinion about it. I worked there with Fiberglass, Polyol, Isocyanide, and other unkown nasty stuffs. My question is not primary targeted, to annoy you, but I hope for further enlightment in this.) *I cleaned only the oral nasal cup part of the respirator.

+ Joke: One of my coworker on there did actually: We have 8 hour / day work, and only weared 3 hour /day the half face respirator. Seriously: When the shift is beginned, he weared the gas mask. 3 hour later, when he go for a break, he camed back without respirator :D I weared the 3M Half Face Respirator all the time, when I worked in that contaminated Area. So, you can imagine, I'm the stupidest people on the factory...
