how can he say RE4 has "dogshit gameplay" while simultaneously not talking shit on the gameplay of RE1-3 original, which have (essnetially) objectively shittier gameplay, is insane. dude must have rocks for brains
I like that S+ rank, Rocco. RE4 will always be the best. As stated on the back of the OG GameCube box art “ Destined to be the greatest horror survival game of all time.” It’s true.
Rocco's opinion on Irvine not wanting to shoot Edea misses the entire point. He's the only one who remembers who she is and that's why he hesitates, and he still winds up taking the shot after he's encouraged to she just deflects it. But yeah, the parade sequence is probably my favorite sequence in any game ever. Masterpiece
When Rocco said about how 15 was an alien trying to read human speech, and assembling something out of it. Sounded like such a cool synopsis before I realized he was dissing it lol.
Who... The FUCK... Says FFT: War of the Lions isn't as good a FFT Advance????? I think I might actually get a hernia Anyway, fun videos as always, I love Doc Ryan's chaotic energy even though we disagree on a lot of stuff. More ranking videos please! Edit: Doc Ryan knows what's UP with the handhelds! Vita is an S Tier all the way!
FFT advance had better pacing, it was definitely a bit quicker, the story and music were much worse but I could see how someone would pick it over that. I liked A2 better than advance though
I saw the tweet and I'm here to fight. here are my comments on the FF tierlist. Take em or leave em but this is how I feel. If FFXIV is S so is XI; I've played both extensively (only getting into XI as of last year so I can't comment on its original experience before they made the early and mid-game largely soloable) and would say that XI in its current state is at least as good, if not better (in some areas) than XIV. It's a different experience, and it's definitely not for everyone, but XI is designed impeccably, and if you like the idea of a classic-styled MMO with much of its obfuscation still intact, with a modern MMO's leveling pace, I'd say give at least the free trial a chance. The worst part of the game is probably signing up for a PlayOnline account; The gameplay and systems are a masterwork: if you like FFV's introduction of the dual/custom job system, XI has that executed to an extreme and it's amazing. XI is S. At least A. XI also has a lot of open screen space and slower paced combat compared to newer MMOs so I can just pop out the youtube player and watch the podcast in the corner while I kill stuff; ultimate comfort gaming. I'd also swap IV and V, but if you love IV, V is at least as good to me. Even if you're into FF for the story and aren't about the more surface-level whimsical nature of the character writing in V, the gameplay of V elevates the experience so well. Bump tactics up to S. Matsuno is a beast and knows how to direct games with amazing stories with amazing worldbuilding and gameplay to match, only for him to be sabotaged by SE once given the keys to a mainline game with XII (which he eventually stepped down from). Wish he would get some bigger projects, but if you want some fantastic Matsuno-written stories, he's been collaborating on some of XIV's endgame content for the past 2 expansions with the Return to Ivalice and Resistance Weapon scenarios, and they may actually be setting up for a future expansion written by him (just a theory, but I think it would be insanely good if they did, especially since XIV is closing out the story they've been telling so far with the upcoming expansion). IX is A or S, the gameplay systems are godlike and the story is amazing I agree with Ryan on tetra master being better than triple triad too (they should add tetra master to XIV). I also know some people that would object to X-2 and the XIII trilogy's low placement, but I've yet to play those so I won't comment. Otherwise the FF tierlist is mostly agreeable to me.
13 was the first FF game I actually owned (I managed to some how play every other JRPG series growing up) and I played the hell out of it, but it's probably a B at best. 13-2 is actually a great game, I think it gets way too much hate "leaking" from 13 and people not liking Serah. Possibly the shortest 100% of any FF game though, but that's not inherently a bad thing, it doesn't draw itself out and you still get 80+ hrs out of it. 13:LR I found unplayable.
I didn’t play these growing up but I can do it. it just feels unintuitive when you’ve played the alternative first, to the point that it seems like a lesser system which devalues the experience. Although it is clearly preferred for the camera system of these games so you don’t get flipped around all the time. Personally I would prefer the unintuitive feeling of getting flipped around than the tedium of tank controls.
@@namesshmames I’m 23 and I just started using them last year when I marathoned the Silent Hill games. They’re oddly satisfying to me, idk why lol. But I get where you’re coming from, some people just prefer a certain play style.
@@namesshmames It's not unintuitive at all, it's just atypical from most control schemes. It's like using inverted aiming after years of using standard aiming, it takes some time to get used to, but once you do it's fine. Most people only give it 5 minutes and then put the controller down instead of waiting for the controls to click
Rocco has a serious talent for selling anyone on a game or TV show. The way he pitched FF VIII about the witch and the parade got me so pumped, and this is the entry in the series tons of people can't stand. He did a great pitch for Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Stardust Crusaders in a podcast once too.
Rocco: FFIV is S rank, but I acknowledge my bias because I played it at a formative age and I connected with it. Also Rocco: FFIX is the most overrated one, people think it's special because they bonded with it. I vote C or B. *fart noise with my mouth*
XIII and XIII-2 are amazing with some of the best music ever made in or outside of a videogame. You DO have to read all the text lore entries though to get the most out of it and I understand if that's a deal-breaker for some. Best characters, best design period for me.
@@JohnRBIV PSP has more content and arguably a better translation but a really bad bug where all the spell/ability animations have some terrible slowdown. If you plan to emulate either versions the PS1 version has loads of patches made over the years and the psp version has a patch that lets you get rid of the slowdown
Yo Americans like a lot of baby food Edit: Does Rachel really not like roast dinner, or Is that some weird American saying that's been warped. A classic British Sunday roast could cure any disease.
final fantasy xiv has an absolutely amazing story and great gameplay but you have to play like five hundred hours of it minimum and it only gets good like a hundred hours in so I would never reasonably recommend anyone play it
Tier list is useless for group discussion like this, it only works on an individual basis. It would be more fun for you guys to just discuss the subjects because group discussion allows more point of view and opinions that just won't work for a rigid and restrictive structure of tier list.
My biggest objection to the tier list thing is the concept of S+ RE4 is not God of Resident Evil just because it changed the game. In fact I think it should be S only out of respect, without that it’s an A. 4make would probably make S though.
I hate FF15 because I shouldn't need to watch a prequel anime, a CG movie, play 5 DLC stories, watch a prequel anime for the 5th DLC, and read a novel to get the full story.
Loved RE4 but personally I think 8 has surpassed that for me. 7 is tied with it tho since I love how its more horror in spectrum vs 8. They mirror each other in fun vs horror.
VIII is not polarizing. people who favor it just had nothing better to compare it too. If not for the music, VIII and II are inobjectively the worse main entries if you ignore "feelings" because they're a miserable gaming experience.
I.... kinda agree with Ryan on RE4, IMO that game is way overrated. I don't know why the over the shoulder camera is a breakthrough, Splinter Cell is already did it 3 years earlier. I don't know why you can't move while aiming, it's an artificial difficulty and unnecessary limitation (if it's a good idea, they should use it on the next RE series). I like RE1 and RE2 quite a lot, I'm a little dissapointed that RE4 is more action oriented. RE4 is good, but far from perfect as everyone said.
Mega64 confirmed for shite taste in sandwiches. Peanut butter and jelly? Fine, if you're 5 years old and don't know anything else but bologna sandwiches. Enjoy all the extra rat poop and ground up cockroaches in your PB, which are approved for human consumption in the product. Meatball sandwiches are uncultured and disgusting, as are Philly cheese steaks, dripping and soaking the bread with meat juices. Maybe I'm wrong, here. If a bunch of people prefer crap on their plate, who am I to say they're wrong when they outnumber someone with taste buds. But you guys put the Gamecube controller at S tier, so, I forgive you.
i feel like 14 is a bad mmo and a bad final fantasy game, you have to do like tens of hours of msq grinding to do anything worthwhile, but they put the other game in a low tier because it gets good 25hrs in
