Nice restoration. Caution: The average “polyester filler” is not heat resistant and will burn with high heat. The only safe metal filler to use is the Bondo brand called Evercoat Rage filler for this high heat application of yours, it is good to 260 Fahrenheit (126 Celsius) surface temp. I also think that bleaching those porcelain insulators would have whitened them, made them a brighter white and removed some of the rusty discoloration…just a thought. I’m sure you used heat-resistant paint, right?
Looks great, love the refreshed gold color. Glad you kept it. The design is classic futuristic. Don't see them like that anymore. Wonderful job. Hope you can enjoy itnfor many years to come.
how much would be cool a restoration where update the resistors and adding a digital interface with thermostat, so a futuristic version with old frame and look
All the electrical things you restore look the same - metal casing, 2-pin connector with earth tabs and ceramic switch, I assume that these were made by the Soviet Union, despite having the look that they were made in a third world country being soo crude. I liked the heater elements glowing but the lower bar looked soo uneven - particularly the hot-spots, would it be worth replacing the nichrome wire to make the glow more even/making sure the wire is tightly wound to the ceramic rods so they are not floating and getting too hot - risk of the wire melting and breaking
Thank you very much for your comments dear Samuel. In fact, all over the world, old-time electric heaters are almost the same. I checked and measured all the wires even though they are not visible in the video. That's why I'm not in favor of replacing it if it's working properly. This wire has a longer life 😊
