With this Honda in particular I like that there is great attention to detail in almost every part of the car that serves the user in some way. Very clever inclusions which more manufacturers could stand to include, notwithstanding Honda themselves as they have removed some of this tech. So, for example, I find those smart folding seats absolutely game-changing. They look amazing. I was also stunned to find the sheer size of the car. Now, the current Honda Civics look almost saloon size in their proportions. However, this looks like a very small compact car, yet it appears to me to be bigger than the Golf its segment mate. The amount of knee room in the back is tip top too. The boot space is top class, along with the additional storage compartment under that. I haven't got the chance to drive one yet, but I hear they are also quite competent on the road, if not even a little bit of fun. And they are generally quite frugal, extremely reliable with fantastic petrol and a really stellar diesel engine. One last thing I like about the car is that driver orientated dash. Naturally, it will divide people. I remember seeing this car for the first time back in 2008 and I had to do a double take because I'd never seen a car like it. It looks so much like a concept car, I couldn't believe there was a car that looked like that on the road. And even today, although it still looks futuristic, I wouldn't call it modern since it doesn't follow modern design trends, but it certainly does not look out of place. And it's one of those designs that will age well into a retro future kind of aesthetic, including the interior. So, there's not much to criticise about the car. I'm considering selling and trading in my 2006 Mini Cooper S R53 and purchasing one of these 2009 Civics 2.2 D. I love the practicality, the comfy cabin amd the idea of saving money on the fuel costs, although outside of my first car, this will be the first time I will have purchased an eco car that's not just for pure smiles and giggles, but there's something quite cool about this car anyway. Maybe I'm a fool for getting rid of a Mini, especially when it's the last model year and it'll be a classic in just under 2 years. It's also a riot to drive. Just don't put people large bags inside!
Having owned an older Civic (2000 1.4 Sport) I absolutely loved the car!, Sporty but very economic in fuel consumption, just a shame that the amount of repairs that needed doing meant I had to scrap it, I had no money at that time. But as soon as I can afford a car again I'll be looking at one of these!
Hey. I have change to buy one 2016 executive version with 1.8 v tec and I really like. Should I change from mitsubishi asx 1.6 petrol. I'm a little tired of that car just 5 gear loud in cabinet.
Bought a 2007 1.4 last week. I find it quite difficult with the clutch its as if the car doesnt want to move when i just.use the clutch on gear 1 will take it to garage to check. Does have 100.000 miles on the clock though and does seem to drink petrrol but not rapidly. I do love this car i must say For a 2007 the dash is futuristic and its quite.nippy
You sound like one of those commentators for cricket. Sorry I really don't mean to be rude or offensive, it just that your tone reminds me of the English commentators. Edit: Excellent review by the way. Love the hatch and thinking of getting one myself, just not sure 2009 or 2010
Hi, i have owned that car a months ago. I have to ask somethinh which itches my mind :) I live in Turkey but the car is made in England and the English versions located in steering wheel in right side. My car is left sided indeed. I think this version is exported in custom(Turkey). Is the left sided versions widespread in European market? I am just curious about where my car is just exported and delivered to my country(Turkey) custom border. Thank u for advance :) Btw I am very glad to own it ! It has efficient and powerfull engine whereas it's economic and swift :)
Tony, you come across plenty of these. I'm looking at P/X my Accord Tourer iDTEC Ex. The higher the miles the better (cheaper)/ Look forward to hearing from you as these Civics don't hang around I guess
Yep a daft omission that they rectified on the 2012 models. Tbh on the move it’s fine as the aerodynamics clear it. You tend to use the small vertical screen on the rear when reversing Rare models have a rear camera which is great but I’d recommend parking sensors to make life easier
@@tommyzoo So the smaller screen doesn't catch water that much? The 2012 version is a much more attractive model to me, but the prices are a bit ridiculous. They're 9 years old now, and still go for over 10.000 euros, so the previous generation is simply much easier to get for me.
@@WH250398 It still isn't ideal but its more resistant to water than the upper section. The 2012 models do hold their money well but for good reason !!
I drove one of these a few weeks ago and I thought the gear change was a bit weird seamed to hold back a bit and change gear at strange times, pulling out of Junction and it changed into second seamed to stop then go again only had 50000 on clock.
John Cockram It is an auto clutch running into a manual gear box internally The technique is to lift the throttle slightly as the gear engages and it smooths it out. They have a more abrupt feel in the lower gears It should always be seen as a ‘automated’ manual gear change and the changes will feel as if being driven in a manual car
