Fw-190 D-9 | Cleanup Crew! ft. =CERES= | War Thunder Air RB

Today I am flying out the Fw-190 D-9, or Dora.
This plane sits at 5.0 in the German tech tree, and is a great aircraft, but only in specific scenarios. The Dora thrives on BnZ playstyle, swooping in at high speeds and destroying anything that crosses its gunsights.
This plane is especially good if you are working together with other 190s, as you can bait and switch for each other, and clear the enemy team very quickly, hence the title 'Cleanup crew.'
Unfortunately, this video isn't the most informational or entertaining as fw190s aren't the best for getting content, because the gameplay doesn't leave much to be seen besides shooting enemies down at lower altitude, but I figured I'd upload some of the footage I had with this plane to show its one main strength.

My controls are WEIRD but I could do a quick video going through my settings and maybe even a keyboard overlay. Controls are kind of a personal preference thing so I’d encourage you to not directly copy and find what works best for you :)

My average fw-190 d9 solo experience Stick with teammates. We engage the enemy. I move aside to go around. Finally engaging the enemy. Teammates immediately runs away💀. Enemy escape. Suddenly getting chase by another enemy. I ask for my other teammates. Found one of my auto assigned Squad mate, for help. Ignores and focus on the AI Strike bombers I CAN'T.

you really make it look so easy. i can not 190 (or 109) for the life of me. i play war thunder alone, so setting up enemies does not give me a lot. and i am not good at aiming from 3rd person. the bad elevator turn does not help me to lead those slow ass guns. did a lot better, when i was still playing with a joystick in IL2 - Cliffs of Dover. i started with germany, but still have not found out, what to do against good spitfire players that always end up above you, no matter how much you overheat ur engine. anyways: whats the difference between the D9 and D12 in game? does anyone know? 😬

For the D-9 and D-12 differences, the D-12 has a 30mm (Mk-108, slow ass velocity) that replaces the 2 13mms of the D-9 Also, it has a slightly less powerful engine.

D-9 has 2 13mm guns while the D-12 has a potato launcher 30mm, and the d-9 has an engine for lower altitudes while the d-12 has an engine for higher altitudes. Spitfires can be tough to fight, but you have to extend and use your energy retention to BnZ them. Predicting the enemies movement is also important for aiming. Hope this helps :)

@@MacWithGun ok. tried it out again. actually sometimes i am the highest guy in the match now, but if you are not and your team sucks, you are lucky if you just survive… there are so much better planes at these br…

@@Siddich The D12 also has hydraulic control surfaces, as opposed to every other 190, which are electric, so they are stronger. (this is the same for the D13, as the only change is the replacement of the mk108 motorkanone with a MG151/20, I do not know why that warrants a different model number instead of a U suffix)

It’s a premium and I don’t have it, sorry. Differences: It has an engine tuned for higher altitudes, 3-20mm, and its roll compresses less at high speeds if that helps :)

nice man i have been looking for someone to make a video on the d9 after the model was updated. i think something id like to understand better is how you pick your targets and how you play the position game. i always climb as high but when i get to altitude either most of my team or the enemy team is dead. also yaks seem to climb as well as me even though im climbing optimally with mec. the 13mms are very difficult to aim and still spark half the time. also when i bnz i dont know how to recommit properly because they usually catch up when i pitch up and turn into me to snipe me. this plane leaves me completely frustrated man. any tips?

This plane can be tough to use solo, as 190s truly start to shine only when you start working with a squad. Picking targets can be tough sometimes: I usually pick the highest target, or the one who has most energy. If there is a very dangerous plane who is near me, I will focus him to get him eliminated as quick as possible. If there is an oblivious enemy, I will make a quick pass. It all depends on what will get you closer to winning the match without the risk of losing your plane.

Also, it is important to not overcommit on enemies if they are planes that can reverse you. Make a quick pass, extend, and repeat, in the way that puts your plane at the least risk. As of now, ballistics of the German guns are very slow with lots of velocity drop off, so I tend to overlead and then bring my lead in closer as I keep shooting. Hope this helps :)

Hey! Unfortunately I don’t have the d-13 :( The differences: 3x20mm, an engine tuned for higher altitudes, and slightly more boosted control surfaces. I hope this helps!

I met you yesterday on f7f, i eventually crashed because I haven't flown it in a year and didn't know it now compresses horribly past 700 IAS. I was about to say why did you join CERES because it's a toxic 4 manner airfield camper squadron but didn't want to shit talk and then get obliterated.

@@MacWithGunI don’t think they are but each time I’ve seen CERES players in my game, they didn’t do any kills and 50% of the time they J out in their airfield (I never went against a 4 ceres squad). I don’t think you guys are bad btw, they probably had a bad day

What are your tips and tricks in avoiding bnz. I tend to just run away, I have performed some reversals before, but people with good aim, tends to shoot you down immediately.

To avoid peoples guns, I have some steps I follow: Gain speed (at least 450kph) this makes you much harder to hit as the enemy will have less time to shoot and have to lead more. Turn into them while in a dive, then at around 650m or when they start shooting, dodge down or up, and then turn back into them.

What is the best ammo belt for a d9? I just bought it and it's quite difficult to control 😕

Yea but teamplay in random matches nowadays is non existent, everybody is just grinding to get to 100.0. Coordinating with a squad is just seal clubbing at this point no matter which plane you are flying. You can easily get 4-6-8 solo kills if you just outclimb everybody and play altitude. Same goes for every other plane. Anyways you can get way more fun if you take something that can somewhat turn over something like D9s and just go in with 15deg climb. Note FW-Ds are good only if you have aim on point and you can snipe up to 1.2km - you can kill up to 1.5km with 151s - overall below average plane Nice teamplay but sad no one else is practicing it :(

Nice, once again ! I struggle quite a lot with the D-9, only 1.5K/D in it 😅 I'm hesitating to buy the D-12 and spade it, do you recommend it ?

The d-12 is only worth it IF you prefer the 30mm AND fight at high altitudes (above 6km) quite often. Besides that, the d9 is better.

I am level 60 but didn't flew this very much, I can't really aim with it, but I also don't kinda have those friends so we can play in a squad of 4 so yeah...😢

Love this plane, ypu can really mess up a team early game if you climb at high speed and catch them in their slow higher pitch climb
