In this video i am showing you the most common air leaks that can occure in the FX Impact and what orings you need to replace in order to fix the leak.
It's probably because the parts are made all over the world to slightly varying tolerances and in different temperatures and humidity. If you get one which has all the tolerances in nice tight fit then you got a good one. If you got one made from a bunch of parts that are a little on the loose side then you will have problems. The o rings only have to crush by a small amount to develop a leak in a poor fitting mating surface. Too tight and friction can become an issue to using thicker o rings is not always the answer because friction and stiction can give other issues. I'd only ever use genuine fx seals because they have had to hand select them to be best fit case across a broad range of tolerances and very precise (as much as it pains me to say it) If you're having issues with an o ring constantly leaking in the same place I'd be looking at damage or a scratch within the recess for the o ring.
There's multiple o-rings in the regulator. A good practice when replacing one o-ring in the regulator is to go ahead and replace all of them. Less than a dollar each and just good insurance. @@dreamnailsbardreamnailsbar6195
It is good to see your channel growing my Friend!! and you fully deserve it, cause you have given so much to the community with your in depth "How To" vids and making us better understand on how to approach and handle our airguns, being FX, Edgun etc. All though being into airgun since being a kid, watching other airgun Gurus, I have to confess, that I have learned so much checking out your vids, and now feeling totally confident in splitting my guns apart....and if i get stuck, I just start one of your vids up on the pad and follow your instructions! Thanks again Mate and looking forward to some good vids in 2023. 💪🏻🙏🏻
Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge, I appreciate that very much. I have an M3 and a Dreamline tactical, so I will definitely be watching your videos and if I have any questions I hope I'm not a bother.😅 Thanks again!
I love my m3 i feel like there's nothing on the market that comes close. Thanks for the video very helpful and can actually help save some money buy not having to ship out gun to have it serviced. Thanks again!!
Hi mate , thx for the support 🙏 I do mostly technical videos and I think rather have some entertainment/shooting videos . But the channel grows slowly so I am already happy about that 😉👊
Very true, it is very intimidating but if you have a mechanical ability it's not so bad, I tore mine down and it wasn't as bad as it seems and I feel very comfortable doing it now, love the videos on leaks, very informative
Thanks for the video. Unfortunately my new-ish M3 started a very slow leak too. Just so happens it's in the same spot as yours. Your video was very helpful. FX should do something about this issue
You really break it down nicely and make anyone with common sense feel they can do what you do with confidence to there FX. I have had my Impact2 for six years since the day I bought it I have never had a problem with it until three days ago, at 30 yards, my 30 calibre pellet dropped 5 inches from zero, and the pellet stuck in the wood, which normally goes cleanly through it. I also noticed my gauge on the bottom of the power block reads zero. Anyways I have been wanting to add the 720 plenum and power block to catch up with the M3. It should arrive next week from Huma Air. So I decided to do your leak test started from back to front and a truly thank you for making this video ! was starting to get nervous. I finally found a small leak in my fill port. Just so you know I don’t lose any pressure on my bottle gauge. It stayed steady for four days. just has no power to shoot properly. I am truly hoping with my new 720 on its way to secure this problem if you have any input looking forward to it. Thanks again sincerely Gun Smith, Dave
Hey man , thank you so much for all the videos you have been posting , they teach us a lot and we are really thankful . You know , I found airgunning as a way to escape my depression and stress from school as a teen . I am now obsessed with airgunning and I am proud to say that I am an airgun fanatic . Please try and have an FX Impacts m3 on a giveaway because this is an extremely advanced airgun . FX Airguns has dominated the airgun world with so many amazing Airguns. It would really help those of us who can't afford them though .
Hi mate , thx for the support! I also used it to escape the stress from my daily job 😉👍 and also obsessed 🤣 To do a giveaway is not in my options as it is very difficult to get the manufacturer to sponsor and then for me to ship it as there are so many different regulations in different countries
Good video! I had the last one from the "109" O-ring kit leak. The air exited the rear block at the bolt under the magazine holder. The magazine holder let the air out where I didn't expect it. The leak detector spray failed to detect it. So I submerged it in a tub of water. :) The air exited at the magazine release. This diving was not a good idea! One of the pressure gauges was damaged... It is impossible to get rid of water with compressed air! I did not see any damage on the o-ring in question. The metal parts were also intact. So I cleaned the notch and lubricated the o-ring with silicone grease. I put it back on and it no longer leaked. Probably some dirt had gotten under the o-ring.
Great video, I got here because I installed the new hammer and huma dual transfer port, and now I have a big leak. Probably from the bottle oring from taking it off? Not sure yet. The only other time I had a big leak was from the tiny vent hole in the back of the main gauge, it may be leaking through the actual gauge and not the threaded seal area. Just one more point of a possible leak for everyone to check.
Thank you for this vid! I was about to give up and send my 4 yr old MK2 to Utah Airguns when an fb friend sent me this video link. After taking my gun apart numerous times to solve air draining out of the rifle and replacing regulator o-rings. The Valve Rod o-rings at 10:12 seems to have solved the problem. Thanks again!
My goal is to get 170 ft lbs on the 35/700 tensioned barrel. I also put in a Huma Slug Power kit and Huma Gen 3 Reg. But, I had a major fail upon test firing. on about the 5th shot there was a huge pop and air blast out of the valve rod hole and transfer port. Hammer/Spring and Tungsten wt. jammed into the Hammer Spring Holder. Any ideas on what might have failed? Thanks so much for being here for us guys! @@Airbuks
@whiteykauai my best guess is that the valve went to far putting more power and the very tiny oring on the end of the valve rod popped. What setting do you use ?
@@Airbuks I had the gun set at 160 on (never used before) reg. Line 4 on thumb adjuster and 16 on pw. My gun is supposed to use 10x1.5 in reg cavity in main block but since I had a leak that was draining the tank I thought maybe AMP reg had failed. or o-ring in main block. So put in the huma high pressure reg and used a 9x1.5 because that's what Ernest Rowe said in a vid. Could the 9.5 be the reason for the blow out the valve rod and transfer port? FX USA says 10x1.5. thank you for taking the time to help!
@@Airbuks yes I have the wildcat bt .22 cal and after I swapped out the 2cd reg gauge to a sekhmet my gun as a started to leak I lose about 20 bar in 24 hours. I may have overtightend the gauge.
I totally agree with you on the flexibility of the Impact line , you can come very close to the M3 . It’s not without a cost though . Saber Tactical and Huma - Air love me . 😂 Good video for checking leaks , thanks .
I thought it was the best in the world as well till recently. I have the exact same setup as you have on the video but in .25cal FAC in the UK. I purchased it in January 2023 and it went back to the distributor at the end of April 2023. They still have it under repair till this day now 21 weeks later.
Yep it is a very versatile gun but they do leak I use snoop leak detector thanks for sharing bsafe buddy 👍and yep that leak is always there sorry I don't know about your gun but even changing for a whole new reg it still leaks I think its because i have mine over 150 bar that's why fx says not to move that front reg screw over 150 bar ....hope you get that sorted out my friend .....on the first reg that came with my gun from factory I could tell that the machining was different from the new one fx usa sent me it looks totally different I'm talking about the holes and stuff like that from the original reg ...I have it deleted at the moment but plan on putting back the new one once I get my 700cc bottle 300 bar then I'll install the new one hope it doesn't leak ty again very good info 👍5 0rings in that first reg
I have it fix , gave it a good clean and swapped all the oring . I have / had mine running at 180 for over 6months without any issues. But I also noticed some machining differences on other peoples impact 🤔 I might request a new one maybe 😉
An excellent video. Easy to understand and follow. Thank you. Just one question, do you use any lubricant when assembling 'O' rings such as a silicone lubricant?
Thanks so much for the video. I have a 6 month old impact that has developed a small leak. It also won’t fill all the way, no matter how long my pump runs. Do you have a leak detection fluid you recommend? If the impact won’t take a full charge, does that mean it has a leak in between the charging port and the tank?
Hola enhorabuena por el canal Tengo una FX impatc M3 600 nueva tiene tres mases y me fugaba aire y seguí tus paso y encontré la Fuga es por el cañón que juntas toricas orins debo comprobar Un saludo Fran Desde españa
I don't understand why my new M3 in 35 cal. is when I go above 120 on the 2nd reg, my fps drops the higher I go? Also, my gun won't de cock or is catching on something. Have you had experience with this problem? Thanks for any advice. Aloha, m
Does anyone knows what is most likely to fail here? I have done the very dumb thing of dry-firing to reduce pressure (to 60PSI) when depressurizing my Impact and the rifle developed leak from breach (balloon test fail). is it just Orings or would it be something else?
Hi is there a way to get the gasket out from under the rear gauge? I just followed your other video to upgrade my impact x rear block to the power block but the new block didn’t come with the gasket. At first I didn’t notice but when I put the tank on all the air came out from the back gauge? I tried to get it out with allen key but I don’t want to destroy it or should I just buy a new gasket
@@Airbuks how long did it take you to be comfortable disassembling and rebuilding the impact? I’m too chicken$#/t to tear into mine. I’m Glad you commented on submerging the guns in water, I’ve never understood people doing that. There’s no way that is good for the gun!
@@justinhromek73 🤔 not sure but if you have done it a few times it’s not a big deal anymore. The most complex part is the valving system and trigger but again once you know how it works it’s pretty easy
That is the plug to block the air passage for the angled manometer mount . 2 things could fix it . Just tighten it a little more or put a rubber ball or piece of oring underneath it
Let me ask you this, is there a quick way to narrow down a leak, like the balloon, if it fills you have an idea where to start looking for a leak but can you narrow it down by your guages? For instance your bottle pressure Guage is dropping slowly but your 2nd reg Guage is holding, something like that, it would be interesting to know, to me it makes sense but maybe im wrong
How do you measure scope height if you’ve got a saber tactical trs mounted to the rifle I can measure barrel and scope but the distance between the scope and barrel is what’s giving me issues how did you do this thanks
You can measure it but slightly different. Measure the height of the cocking block an divided by 2 , then measure the height from the bottom of the backbone plate to the bottom of your scope . Add the 2 measurements together and add the half of your scope tube size to it . That should give you a good enough measurement to use in your ballistic app
So my MKII is leaking in-between the block and the power plenum. I'd does not seem to be leaking at silvery rings located at the very aft end on the valve rod. I believe you said the on the M3 the sudpect orings are external of the valve housing (and the later modela, w/ the power block, are internal of the block). What about the MK2, are they external of valve housing? To access I need to remove valve knob, housing, rod, hammer, etc.., right? Thank you.
On the MKII the orings are on the outside of the valve housing not inside (3 orings on the silver part ) To access that I am afraid you will have to disassemble the whole impact
@@Airbuks got them replaced and it seems to be holding tight. I'm glad I disassembled the gun, my C1 has worked its way loose! I used some loctite this time. Thanks again for the help, I greatly appreciate it. You have a wonderful channel.
Another subscriber from me.... top man. My Mk2 .25 just blew tonight emptying entire cylinder immediately blowing on my cheek like an explosion. I have just upgraded it with slug power kit, slug probe, slug barrel, carbon sleeve etc... Any ideas where I should look first? It was not running full power when it blew. I dry fired it once or twice without any air which I now realise according to the manual I shouldnt have done. 😭
Firstly, excellent video 👍. I've got a reasonably fast leak on a MK2. I lose about 40 Bar within a few hours from 250 Bar. I've gone over it about three different times with gas leak detector spray in all the spots you show in the video. I can't find the leak. I know I left the rifle on about 150 bar stored, so I expect that's what's caused this. I never adjust the settings except I turned the power wheel down and back up once or twice. I am left wondering about immersing the rifle in a thin oil bath to track the leak, but I am fearful of oil penetration into the gauges. Any suggestions? 🤔🇦🇺
Hi , 40bar in a few hours is a fast leak and should be easy to spot . Have you checked the brass plugs ? One is on the left side near the the top of the grip and the second one is 1/2 hidden behind the bottle adapter also on the left side
I have a MK1 with a leak in the regulator vent hole. Any chance you've done a video on how to replace the internal O-Ring that fits in the body of the gun? There's got to be a better way, last time took me 45 minutes to get that thing in! Many thanks!
I don’t have a video how to replace that I think 🤔, but that oring is in a difficult spot indeed . Also hard to show on camera while fiddling in the hole
Good video! I wonder what you think about moisture of the air in the system? How a big deal is it for the m3 in terms of causing leakages over time and causing damage to the all te gun parts including metal? How do you fill up your gun? I use a Nomad 2 but the air filters there aren't really good, so when I release the pressure over the screw, after filling the gun, there are water drops all around the release port. Do you have any recommendatios there?
Hi 👋, thx for the support. Moisture is a big deal in my opinion, moisture creates corrosion in your airgun and affects oring which can cause a leak . If you fill with a home compressor you might wanna bleed off the moisture in the fill system during the fill of a bottle a few time during the process as some on board water traps are not big enough when you have humid conditions. You can add a extra moisture filter but make sure your compressor can handle it . Scuba ships mostly have dry air due to there industrial machinery
@@Airbuks What do you use for filling up your airguns? I also wonder what is the best way to store my gun since i'm using it only occasionally, then store it for some months before using it again...i'm thinking about to unscrew the bottle to let the the gun dry this way
@@gorangorinajgori5544 I use a Hill compressor with extra moisture filter and I run it in the house when I fill my bottles to get dry air . Also every cooldown cycle I bleed de line just a second to get some more moisture out of the filter 😉 To store it , I have several airguns and sometimes don’t use some of them for a long time and I always store the filled with pressure in them to make sure the orings stay sealed. If you would take all the air out and leave it like that for a long time you might risk that the orings don’t seat properly anymore and you have a leak . I store them in the case in the house where the temp is stabile and moisture is low ,I also put 1 of those bigger silica bags inside de case aswel to catch any moisture that might be in the foam of the case itself from being out and about .
Hello! Thank you so much for the video, I think I got the same leak as you, I changed the O-Ring inside it but I still have a leak... And when I remove the bottle, the air leaks from the reg is this normal ? Please advise I'm going nuts
That front regulator is fragile indeed . Before you do anything else try to put a drop of silicone olie on top of the regulator before puttertje bottle on , it might help to seal ever
I don’t lose pressure but I have noticed my velocity dropping after a few magazines. I will tune the rifle for 860fps and after a mag or two velocity starts going down to 840, 830 etc… I was thinking the o-ring inside the transferport where the probe goes in and out?
🤔 it can be a number of things causing this . What do you do to get back to the desired velocity? Up the reg or HS ? It is possible that your C1 is backing out and therefore kissing velocity or the second regulator not recovering completely but then it should get back to normal velocity if you wait a little longer between shots
@@Airbuks first I get frustrated and plonk the rifle in it’s case and I shoot the wildcat … it’s a 700mm .22 M3 shooting 18gr with 2nd reg 85bar. First time it happened I upped hammer a bit, opened valve return spring some, found a nice stable tune and after two mags it started dropping again. I make sure to wait between shots. I just ordered o-rings for the probe and transferport, can’t hurt:) thanks for your reply!
Hi I dont have a leak, but the opposite sort of, i cant get any pressure into the plenum on my impact m3, ive adjusted the second reg from fully in to leaking when out but no readings on either of rear gauges, cocking doesnt put air through, sorry to jump on your leak video comments but im stuck.
@@Airbuks I think it's the valve because when I put the air tank on without closing the valve rod with the end caps . It began hissing sound, when I pushed back the valve rod with my finger it decreased the sound, a lot. But not stopped completely. I am waiting for an o ring kit to change them. Thanks for the response. Much appreciated.
I would love to have a video similar on your LCS. Also…how do you know what size o-rings to use to replace damaged o-rings. For the life of me that is something I have yet to get my head rapped around sir.
Hi that previous message wasn’t posted by me , someone is using my logo trying to lure people to telegram 🤬 please don’t follow what they sad ! Now to answer the question, like with every you need to wipe it of and since you are using tiny amounts in a particular location it should cause any rust
Good video I have a question if you can help me I change out the o-rings on my m3 second stage regulator but when a screw the bottom and I open the screw in the regulator doesn’t hold any pressure the coming trough the barrel what you think is thank you
When I air up my impact mk2 air heavily flows straight out where my hammer adjuster screw is. Do you know what that could be? Thank you for the awesome video!

I didn’t get the name of the leak detecting bottle and I can’t read it on the video. Could you please tell me what the name of that product is? Thank you so much.
Indeed the Royal is much simpler, but I don’t mind tinkering with the gun . As I mentioned in the video a airgun that can be ( almost) upgraded every time a new version gets released comes with the downside of having many orings , but I am willing to have that over not being able to upgrade
If you tinker with air guns in the UK 🇬🇧 you end up in court or prison , so an impact is wasted on 12 foot pound limit, and getting a firearms licence is so hard in the UK , that's why I stick to basic royale.
Hey lately, I’ve had a lot of back pressure on my bottle when I tried to unscrew it and today when I took it off my first stage regulator completely dumped all of the air that was in the gun as soon as I took the bottle off, so I screwed it back on again and let the gun fill up with air and after I took the bottle off once again, it dumped all of the air inside. What should I do? And where is the leak
@@Airbuks I was trying to tune for 33gr Zan my second reg was at 150 and I was trying to get to about 185 so after I made that adjustment I removed the bottle to adjust my first reg from about 200 to 220 ad when I unscrewed the bottle to do that it started dumping air.
Hello, many thanks for your video. I am desperate as I am stuck with my Impact MKII; since 7 days I can't use it. My problem is I can't reach 150Bars into my plenum, I installed the regulator 11washers, regular set up )()()()()() but even opening quite much the set screw I can not reach the 150Bars. Why? If I unscrew more the regulator set screw it vents and blow out all the air of the plenum. Can someone help me? Many thanks.
@@Airbuks yes it is. I will try this configuration and hopefully the regulator works fine again and reach higher pressures. Now only 120Bar on max open set screw position, weird. I checked almost everything. I disassemble the Impact tens of times and always succeeding, now stucked on this. Must be a little stupid mistake I am ignoring. Thanks mate.
Still leaking air. Loosing about 30 bar in 24 hrs. Super slow which is probably why i cant find it. Been over the gun like 5 times with leak spray. Dont think such a small leak will puff a balloon on the muzzle?
it was the bottle pressure gauge .. the x ring. Should of known because it had sprang a massive leak before and i thought the ring was broken but it was just pinched and/or over tightened from the factory. Removed/inspected, greased and put back together and all seemed well. The leak detector spray i have only Worked for a second after sprayed on. Meaning it would form a bubble, pop and that was it. I then took a swab and when i sat the swab soaked with LD spray over the area it continually bubbled. Thanks for your help.
I barely have any leaks despite some other people. I guess it’s mostly due to how you treat your gun and how well you maintain it 🤷♂️ . I had 1 leak the last year out of my 5 FX airguns and it was fixed within 15min
Hi new subscriber here i wànt to ask my fx has leak on the plug near the power wheel what is the size of that o ring i appreciate your reply. Thank you in advance
@@Airbuks the o ring around the barrel is there, for the m3 there is only 1 and it is larger than the o ring that came out after dry firing. I noticed this gun can’t handle dry firing at all making it a sensitive gun. A buyer would need to have expert knowledge of the gun to properly maintain it.
@@Masteradamant so it’s exactly what I try to say the oring inside the transferport that seals around the probe , the size varies on different calibers as the probe thickness is different offcours .
