my daughter lives in the city there, but she and her husband love climbing. They are both geologists.... so it's fun to see a video where someone is identifying plants. Usually on hikes they only talk about ROCKS. So if you need anyone to talk about the geology or rocks......

I don’t understand where this man is, considering that the fynbos environment can not sustain trees, unless they are alien invasive. But great voice.

Ryno, if fynbos is only around the South African coast from the Cape to past Port Elizabeth and nowhere else in the world, why does it have Latin names?

+Johan Marais all species that have been identified and characterised have been assigned binomial scientific names. it's a convention established by the Swedish naturalist Carl Linnaeus, back in the 1700's. Everything from the common dog, to a plant species occurring in a tiny area in a random place in the world has a two part Latin name. Even all the different bacteria we have identified.

Too bad most of those large trees are alien. Those pine trees need to be harvested for timber and the fynbos rehabilitated from the profits of the lumber
