FZ-09 MT-09 Woodcraft Handle Bar Clip-Ons Review 

I installed (on MT-10) the Woodcraft 1" riser clip on kit. Did everything said in this video. I opted for the least amount of drop. 1" riser set to up. 2" or so of drop. This solved the dreaded throttle blip every time I hit a bump. Not too much weight on the wrists. if you want more, flip the riser block. One downside, you will hit the windscreen. I've played with the levers to no avail. 2 solutions. 1" or so nylon spacer on bolts behind windscreen OR, cut the windscreen with a dremel. OR leave it off altogether. Either way its worth it! The angle of the stock handlebars with my 5'8" height, every bump flicked my wrist causing throttle blip. HUGELY annoying and if this hadn't worked I would have sold it. I'm grining ear to ear. Worth it!!

Good stuff man. I installed my 1.5" + 10mm in the down position. The riding position is dramatically more aggressive and took me about 250 miles to get comfortable. 1.5" can cause interference issues in the down position without 10mm spacers. There's about a few millimeters of space between the spacer and top fork cap! 2" risers must be installed in the up position. Also, I put some thin aluminum pieces on the steering stops to prevent thumbs squishing the tank.

A cheap and dirty option of course is simply flat traditinal bars they used to call drag bars and ther were even bars welded from three pieces that REALLY moved the bars lower and farther forward dont know if they still make those but they were the super popular premium option for low budget cafe racers in the 70s ,,,,they just directly replace stock bars fitting in stock clamps

4:29 thank youuuuu! I have been all over the place looking for that exact information. I'm a short dude(5'5", 1.21m) and I want that 3" drop so I can take advantage of a full tuck.

BTW better than wraping cable with electrical tape I think would be to use some nice shiny black shrink tubing since you have cable out of lever anyway ... another option is a stainless spring cover which is bullet proof and suports the cable though that is likely overkill

great video bro! you pretty much answer tons of questions thank you a lot! i would say im done with the stock bar look on my fz09 it feels way too upright for me specially when in the highway furthermore i would love to make it look sportier too. Im 5' 9" do you think i should go for the woodcraft 2inch w/10mm spacers or the 1125CR clubman bar? i heard they also look great on the fz09 … but im afraid it would be way to low and start feeling like in a super sport kind of uncomfortable…

I have 1.5 rise woodcrafts for my 2016 MT 07, and they made a huge difference, even in the up position. I have mine set in the up position with 10mm spacers to set myself a little more forward. It sets my hands up right for general commuting and they are aggressive enough to have a bit of twisty fun. I tried 1.5 down, but with stock pegs, it's too far forward and it feels janky... it obviously needs the woodcraft rear sets to use them that way.

Shouldn't be leaning on your handlebars to hold you up so extra weight from you being in a more hunched position shouldn't be an issue. If you want to get the most out of your bike its all about core strength and supporting yourself with you back and hips/lges.

What size risers do you have on this video?

I heard if you get the clip on handlebars you got to get the rear sets to.

What clutch cable are you using?

So I’m confused about what you meant by rerouting the clutch cable in between 2nd throttle body? How exactly are you positioning cables ( does it zigzag up through the middle ?) or do you snake it from the opposite end? Mine is bending severely from stock position with the same setup as yours I appreciate it bro

Technically not the same as traditional clip on bars which of course individually clamp onto right and left fork tubes below the top triple ....these?I dont even know what to call em One negative thing with some bikes changint to lower bars of any kind you already discovered namely how easilty the mod can effectively make cables now overly long which CAN induce extra binding in the cable(s) and have you suddenly thinking "dang why is my clutch pull insanely harder now??" etc just saying that happened to me on one bike, I loved the lower bars but the clutch pull was intolerable....lol i sold it rather than simply making a custom shorty cable as there simply was no re routing fix no where for the extra length to route through but maybe not the case with fz/mt 09 idk ....I'm afraid to try it after my earlier woes on that other motorcycle! I am amazed how Yamaha engineered the clutches on these models to be so light pull without hydraulics....I mean that is a LOT of torque and power one would think they would have to use really heavy clurch springs but however they managed it is awesome
