Hey Keith - can you provide more details on “Mastercraft?” the source for horn? Struggling to find decent material, I agree eBay is not the best place to look.
Whoohoo, new content. I haven’t even watched it yet. Im scared to watch the whole thing, and then it’s all gone. Might do a few minutes at a time. I love your videos. I’m just stoked about having a new video from Keith. 😀
Always, interesting videos and I always take away something new. I really like how you try to reuse what’s already there. Thanks for putting all the effort into this, with a banged up hand. Man someone is going to in heaven when they snag that block Tenjyou.
Great work Keith! I'm with ya, keep it fun and enjoyable. No point in putting your energy into garbage. I like your process and the great results. None will be perfect, but its functional. I use a lot of CA in my cleanup work too. best wishes, Matt
Hi Keith ty for the video dam near fell off my couch after getting the notification I can see why you were out of action is that cat still alive lol beautiful razor
Great to see another video from you. Hope your hand heals quickly and completely. I have a G Butler ART razor with a tape repair from years ago, but the razor performs perfectly and I like the aged look and know that the repair has stood up to the daily grind and such. Stay amazing and look forward to seeing the razor finished. I learned a good tip from you in this video. Thank you so much for sharing priceless knowledge. Have a great week
@@KeithVJohnson1 always learning and when you make videos, I love to learn more about razors & honing, and that’s what you do best in my opinion, share knowledge on those topics. I know you e been working on guitars for quite awhile, and that’s totally cool too. Keep Rockin’ and honin’
Hi Keith, sorry if it's not related to the video but I have a question about a couple of stones. I had a naniwa hayabusa 4k, the stone was very good and I liked it a lot but it did saturate quite quickly and at some point this summer it warped like a banana, I treated it as every other stone and never seen anything like this. I gave it away at some point but now I would like to get another stone of the same range and was wondering about the shapton 5k or buying the hayabusa again. How would you compare the two? Thank you in advance
I don't want to get into a comparison of two stones that aren't in the video, but the Hayabusa is softer than a Shapton Pro. Totally different thing - apples/oranges. Hayabusa is splash/go - not a soaker, there should be no 'saturation' really.
Hey Keith! I’m just getting into honing and only have one stone right now. It’s Norton 4K / 8K. I still need a 1k and 12k to get started. Eventually I will get some natural stones, but slowly, since I buy soap sets, brushes, and all that other stuff as an enthusiast, and RU-vidr. 🤣 I’ll be checking out more of your videos since I’m trying to learn as much as I can. Have a great day and week ahead! -Josh
Thanks for the vid. It's been a while you made one. I think you're right about the scales. If they're original 1880s they don't need to look brand new. I've picked up a few vintage straight and I don't appreciate the crud either. Who knows what's in that? Take it apart and scrub it, hell yes!
Great work on the scales. That looked like it'd be thrown away but you made it work. I haven't messed with Resto work yet but I might get into it. More into cleaning up and just honing for now.
Have my great grandfather’s Geo. Butler extra hollow razor that I had new scales fitted to and resharpened, it’s a working man’s razor but is great steel and gives a decent shave. It’s also a family memento of the early 1900’s.
Agree with you about the scales. On one of my razors the previous owners carved their initials on one of its scales. I went light on the sanding to keep the initials. I also appreciate the rough look rather than the museum piece look for refurbish/resto. Good to see you on the mend and back in action. Thanks.
