Owners of the Ti squares hear “How Much?” Every time you reveal the cost of one. It’s silly for sure, yet we keep buying them. Gotta love squares watchgauge.com...
I love these higher end Squares. I can't bring myself to spend $1,700 on a Casio but I have purchased 3 of the half metal GMW-B5000 Squares. I just bought the blue one used for $300 and can't wait for it to arrive. So far my favorite is the silver model.
I think they are massively overpriced, but you can't deny that they're cool. That's why I can't hate them. They just look darn cool. Realistically they probably should only be $200 more than the steel models, but Casio is going to charge whatever they want, and they're selling out so the pricing strategy is working.
I recommend the DIY-solution: Titanium Bezel and Bracelet are around 250 USD on Aliexpress, if they are on Sale even cheaper. Plus another 200 for a GW-B5600 and off you go. I just finished a GA-2100 with a Titanium Bracelet for less than 230 USD all in.
If there's a black DLC titanium bezel for the bluetooth GWB5600, I'm in. Or for a GMWB5000, as I have the blue version and would like to change it up for a slightly lighter and more scratch resistant bezel.
I prefer a positive display. Negative displays must be the best selling and more popular choice otherwise they wouldn’t be used in so many models. These are beautiful watches and the camo print looks like a work of art.
After seeing the dismissive comments, I am starting think that people might be underestimating the costs and performance of DLC. I mean the Sapphire glass and Titanium alone are already a massive mark up on how much it would be to produce but to have decent DLC application will elevate the costs and performance of the watch so much more! The truth is the standard G-shock is remarkably resilient but only in its core. The resin bands and bezel still scuffs and rubs and the mineral glass still gets scratched up. The premium essentially the same core toughness and extend that to the exterior of the watch to make it a complete package. It's not expensive for expensive sake like some branded Swiss watches with fragile gemstones attached. All the added cost is for better materials and treatment that further the core G-Shock principles. Seriously, have a look at some DLC test video. It's incredible technology!
Got the first G Shock square about 10 years ago. Only wear it a few times a year but it sit in the watch box and I set my automatic watches to it. I just got into the full metal G Shock Squares and they are really cool...i would definately consider picking up the camo titanium
An olive drab titanium would look awesome. All matte with negative display. Maybe gold pushers and screws like the stealth wealth has. I would probably finally spend the ridiculous amount for that one.
You definitely got to have the emotional attachment to the squares to make that investment in a G-Shock. Cool watches, but I would take the budget an use them on premium sports watch.
I love my stealth B5000. The titanium looks great and my watch still looks new even after a year of use. I find the regular resin bands would start to gunk up after a while which I disliked.
Just read an article on Time & Time that may shed some light as to one of the reasons why these are so much more expensive than metal squares: "Titanium, being a notoriously difficult metal to machine, required G-Shock to create an entirely separate assembly line as the previous moulds and machines could not be repurposed to fabricate the full metal titanium models." So yeah, who knows how much that cost, but I guess there's more to it that just charging more because they can.
They look great together, and I love how the seconds change in perfect sync 👍🏻 They’re too pricey for me though - price wise I stopped at the GW-5000 1JF and the GMW-B5000, which I both love.
My problem is that I've categorized G-Shocks into a cheap beater watch class. It's what I wear when I'm working on the car or fixing the plumbing. They are already lightweight so I don't see the point in titanium. However I completely understand irrationality when it comes to purchases. I spent over $100 on a freakin' pair of jeans for pete's sake. I'm just as guilty.
I love my 2 G Shocks. Hell no I would never spend that much. I wear my 5600 and 9052 daily to work. $40. I am not rich lol. Love my G's. Function rocks.
Absolutely the to die for g shocks. I love all three but a prefer the blue and picked up a new one for less than a grand. Titanium is the best metal for a watch and the square is by far my favorite g shock. Had my first square 50 years ago. A fifteen dollar great watch. Now I have the ultimate square.
All back Ti one hands down, no competition as far as I'm concerned (positive display and all) Cammo would maybe look much nicer with a gold, silver something more plain and loud dial
This is the same argument as the Omega speedmaster 321 Ed White at a different price point. It’s the ultimate interpretation of a model. if you are not on board with the model already you just won’t “get it”.
MR-G is true stealth wealth. Love that about these watches. I could care less what people think; if they think it’s a $40 Casio it makes me even happier 🙂
i have the original titanium camo, purchased for $1316 at a AD... my honest opinion? absolutely not worth it at 1700 and not worth it at 1316. get the all metal stainless steel for $600.. same module and the weight of the stainless steel is preferred (for me). the titanium is too light... gives the illusion that it's less quality.
But with grand seiko you acctualy worth the price they sell for? And with premium g schock you get what? Different colour? Titanium wich isnt expensive at all? You definetley dont get premium mechaniem, you dont get premium finishingl not even premium brand.
I’d like to buy one of this seriously since there’s one store that selling it just about USD1000 in my country... but for me, g-shock is identical with sport watch, especially the square ones, which is have to be comfortable enough for rough activity... the steel/titanium bracelet is not comfortable enough compare to rubber strap... so it’s kinda missing the point here...
I don't get it but if you like it then it is worth it to you. Speculating on resale is a little dangerous, what if Casio keeps iterating on these titanium squares? Keep flipping for life.
I have a 200usd GW5000 which I bought discounted when I was in Japan, and that is the most I would pay for a Casio. I like it very much but that is the most I would pay for one Casio square
Only titanium I like is the non-camo positive display. Personally I would only buy one for $1,500 if I had already some higher tier watches like Omega or Grand Seiko.
I can't justify the cost. I don't know how much titanium costs. The most I spent on a Gshock is about 169 for a GBX100-1 I can't see spending more than 200 dollars for any gshock and I know there are many 800 dollar range, 500 dollar range. All over the place. Casio used to be known as a value watch company. So I don't get it. Not my business if someone wants to spend that kind of money. For that price, there are many Sinn watches for around that or even less.
Does anyone know how many of the camo models were produced? They are limited edition but I cant find any Information on the exact number. If its only a few hundred made I can justify spending the money.
Not a fan of a metal that scratches more easily donning a camo pattern. Also, mineral glass is more shock resilient than sapphire. I love the stainless steel versions. 1/4 the cost, spring bars in bracelet, tougher. My verdict is that they're not worth it. Very cool though.
Hi - quick question, I am looking at the GMW-B5000TCF-2ER - What does 2ER stand for? I have seen 1ER before on other watches but I can't figure what the difference is
They are trying to sell you a Tron Model for $800 and it's just a Stainless Steel Watch with a kool laser edged pattern, Which is seriously overpriced for that they are, a $50 Watch with a $750 price markup once they add the stainless steel bracelet, they don't even add Sapphire Crystal at that price. That's insane. I actually bought both, the Black Camouflaged and the tron version. Got them both in Mint Condition with all original box and paperwork for $1,300 from Owners who purchased them at full price. I take my time and hunt them down for the right price. Also every other watch coming out is a special or Limited Edition. So it's getting a bit Corny.
Blue is ugly, Camo is nicest, but if Black one had all this printings in black of gold instead of white it would be the best of all three, in my opinion.
I would like the titanium unpainted, just the pure titanium. I have an unpainted all titanium watch that is 20+yo and looks just fine. Why painting a high quality material, i would rather see and feel the high quality titanium on my wrist. 1500€ is to much for what it is, it doesnt even has an OLED screen but ol' lcd, oled instead would be so much more durable as supposed to be for a gshock. i guess these watches have their rich fanclub to spend $1700 for a gshock, now there are some titanium gshocks for 4500€.
Titanium isn't expensive, G-shock aren't that expensive (though I love my full-metal 5000) - so it's more like stealth-stupidity to spend $1700 (edit: or anything much over $600) supply and demand can go to hell.
In my collection there is automatic Seikos, Hamiltons, Sinn, etc and I still find myself wearing a g-shock almost everyday...go figure what is a real watch.
And if someone already have gold watch , but not many occasions to wear it ? I bought the original square battery operated G shock from Walmart for like $30 over 10 years ago and is still one of my favorite watches. Fits right. Has the functions I need. Love it.
