Congrats on getting one of these all steel models. Great choice, the Gold is the must stunning. I don't care for the black because it looks just like all my black plastic models. I own both the silver and gold, love them both. I normally don't like gold plated watches, but this one is different, the gold is just stunning. This Gold is one of Random Rob's favorite of his G-Shock squares collection, and Bruce Williams loves his too.
@@WristwatchObsession yes my thinking as well. The silver is cool but I have plenty of mechanical steel watches and the black looks like my 5610. Nothing looks like the bling master
The inner case and screwback are not ion plated. It is DLC, Diamond Like Coating. Good review, I managed to pick up the silver one at half price, should I buy the gold too? Choices..
Thanks! and thanks for the correction the on the back.. I guess the Gold is IP or ion plating and the back and inner watch head is still DLC. I have the silver one also and got it for half price also though it was used but mint condition. I love them both. I'm always amazed when I pick up the gold one after not wearing it a few weeks on how beautiful the gold plating is!
Yes! I think it would be a fantastic one watch collection. With 200m water resist it can go near water: ocean, pool, rain. Rugged enough for any travels, yet gorgeous looking for night on the town or kicking back with friends.. Never needs a battery so no maintenance. Great question.
Hi.. Good question, I put it on a table near the window a few times a month for a few hours each time to keep the battery charged. The blueTooth uses a lot, so I shut it off sometimes and the battery lasts longer. This is for the winter. In the summer or when I'm out in the sun a lot no extra charging needed. So it depends on how much you use the watch and how much sunlight the watch gets. Indoor light isn't enough to charge it all the way or keep up with everyday use. I just charge it in the sun about 8 hours a month and don't worry about it. I have about 10 solar watches so I put them all out at the same time.
@@WristwatchObsession thnx for your reply. I just got it but im planning to use it every day. Everytime i connect it to the app its only halffull. But there isnt a lot of sun out here atm innthe netherlands. Is it correct the watch is not giving a hourly beep and not beeping when i press the buttons if the battery is half?
@@DutchHeavyw8 Hi.. the sun situation where you are is similar here in Maine especially in winter. My metal G-Shocks are always going to half full unless I put them in the sun in the window a couple of times a week, they're are in the sun now. I don't think it's true about the beeps that they shut off when it's half full. Not sure though because I have both of those features off on my watch. Check in the menu system when you go through the adjust button that they are turned on. The hourly signal is in the alarm list 1 -5 and SIG for signal you can turn on there. The beep for the buttons can also be turned on or off called Key music symbol. Also here you can shut off the radio time receiver multiband 6 to save power if you don't use it, called Receiver off in the adjust button menu. Also be aware that the beep sound on these full metal watches is the weakest sound of all my G-Shocks and can be barely heard, so if you're not in a very quiet place you may not hear it.
I faced the same question and went gold. My reasoning is my analog sport watches are all silver and I wanted something different. Good news is I don’t think there is a bad choice here.
