GSkill ram’s rgb will work with ASRock polychrome. You’ll loose a lot of patterns and functionality, but it works.

Leo here: Good point! there is 'works' and 'works correctly'. Feel free to give us your findings about which RGB software works well, badly or not at all. There are times that RGB makes you feel like a paying Beta tester.

@@KitGuruTech Another RGB-related issue, often it works when you don't want it to work. I have a 5700 XT Red Devil with a horribly annoying green light which you can not disable! No button or switch for it on the graphics card. Please deduct points while reviewing if you notice something like that! No case blocks that light, unless you have no ventilation in the back which is unacceptable. Frankly, I also don't like it wasting 1 W or whatever it is for something that annoys the user.

Polychrome isn’t bad. iCue seems to be the best for me. Once you get accustomed to the GUI. Steel Series is somewhere between those two. Gigabyte’s has some work to do. Very basic and not many options given. The GSkill software is good. It’s a question of how many of these programs do you want running at once?

@@paulthebeardedonedowning6820 Many people hate that bloatware and also you can't use this bloatware on Linux. Sometimes (keyboards) there are other solutions but it is a pain in the but. Anything that contains RGB ought to be disabled by default and only turned on with either software or a switch/button.

This whole video treats Trident Z Neo as a single product which uses Hynix D-die and is thus more compatible with Ryzen. Completely negates to mention that, in addition to the memory featured, the GTZNC with 16-19-19-39 timings, there's also the GTZN variant with 16-16-16-36 timings which is more expensive and, I believe, uses Samsung B-die, thus making it an entirely different product whilst retaining the same Neo branding. Instead of clearly explaining this and that there are different types of "Neo" products, even at the same speed and CL rating, the whole concept of "latency" is dismissed as almost not worth talking about.

I too have the 3900x with this exact RAM. Using MSI X570 Meg ACE and everything works great out of the box. Had to adjust the RAM speed through bios to get full 3600Mhz but still worked great 👌🏻👌🏻

No joy on my set. I tried 2x16GB neo and rgb kits from gskill and I have 3900x and msi x570 meg ace but with xmp on there is no boot. With manual timings only can get 3266Mhz max. Neo kit is not on msi Qvl list bit rgb kit is but still the fastest I can go is 3266Mhz. Do you think is mobo or cpu fault?

The Neos with Samsung B-die are the 32GTZN CL16. The ones in this video are Neos 32GTZNC which have the Hynix chips.

Ive just finished my new build with a 3900x and I dont know about other sticks/board but I have asus x570-e and Trident Z Neo F4-3600C16Q-64GTZNC and it works just perfectly with DOCP enable.

I argue that every Ryzen-user NEEDS to know about latency. You feel the difference between for example 3200 MT/s and moderate timings or 3600 MT/s and fast timings.

@Purebred Shekelberg Roughly comparable, not exactly. Out of my head 3600 CL=16 is slightly better but it is not worth a large price-difference. The question is which one you will get more out after overclocking, that depends on which die they used and that could be different between samples of the same model (because they have too many of the good ones and you luck out).

It has been tested cl16 3600mhz ram (vs cl14 3200mhz ram) is better and has increased performance for Ryzen 3000

I bought 4 8g sticks of the Neo mem at 3600hz. More than happy. Great mem, looks great in pc, running a Ryzen 7 3700x on a X570 Taichi mobo.

@@jakeneubauer1048 You have to go into the Bios and set the overclock for the memory. Its a preset so you don't have to do anything but select it and save settings

Samsung B-die is not EOL. The green PCB + B-die chips are what was EOL. The B-die chips are still in production. If you want B-die in a 3600MHz G Skill bin then you will need to find timings of: 16-16-16-16-36, 15-15-15-15-35, 14-15-15-15-35. The main difference between CJR, DJR, Rev E and B-die is the ability to drop the Trcd down to below or at parity with Tcl, Trfc can be lowered substantially, and B-die voltage scaling is usually superior to other ICs. Memory type, dual or single rank and PCB layout, A1/A2/B1/B2 also play a role in frequency achievement. Ryzen memory controller clock can go up to 1900MHz(Infinity Fabric) before decoupling which clocks causes latency penalty. But not all CPU can do 1900MHz on the Infinity Fabric. Diamond Standard for Ryzen is 3800Mhz cl-14. Yes the Ryzen 3000 series has a much improved UMC then previous Ryzen releases. I've also achieved higher RAM frequencies on a x470 vs x370 with same CPU/RAM(about 200MHz)...

Understood about Samsung B-die modules and chips however, as we said elsewhere, this is a subject that has come up in conversation with memory manufacturers. When you say 'Parody' you doubtless mean 'Parity' however Parody sounds considerably better.

Got this set in 8gb×2 3600 neo, after all the reviews I read on corsair 3200mhz not be completely compatible without some work, which was what I ordered. I did myself a favor and returned the corsairs and went neo, couldn't be happier! There expensive but if your doing a new build like mine, 3800x, msix570 gaming edge mbps, you wont go wrong by spending the extra 75.00dollars.

Thanks Leo and KitGuru for the investigation. I like RGB and it is also very often requested when building for friends and family, so I appreciate that your team has always made genuine good faith coverage of it as part of your overall reviews, instead of passing off some "unicorn vomit" remark. I hope you continue to follow up on the software side. Trimming the flab off of bloatware is ideal, but I'm also of the opinion advances in hardware efficiency and performance should be put to use, since modern machines have cycles to spare. And judging by the other mostly sincere and serious comments for this video, I'm pleased to see other RGB supporters delurk and contribute too. Someone's buying this stuff, right? Hurrah for blinkenlights!

There is a mod so your Corsair ram syncs with Aura, but now that there is the mod for Asus MBs for iCue, I have not looked back. It is fantastic. If only Corsair would do a music-reactive mode next!

Checking in: Trident Neo 8g sticks with the 3600mhz Cas 16-16-16-36 (It's Hynix) being sold on Amazon run xmp settings perfectly stable on a Ryzen 3800x with the Aurous X570 Pro wi fi. I have 4 sticks of it and running 1800mhz (remember its double data so it reads as 3600mhz) on xmp settings no issues. One other point, the Gskill Trident neo WILL sync with Aurous Sync from Gigabyte but it is solid color only. You can get breathing and blink etc but no individual control over the individual LEDS for additional effects.

I have the F4-3600C16Q-64GTZN (B die) on a Crosshair 8 Hero. No problem at all enabling DOCP(/XMP). Works straight out of the box. You do want to disable LEDs or at least make it a static colour so you don't lose 5% CPU time to that crap. Asus Aura is compatible with the sticks to change their LEDs. Got it at 14 -14-14-14-30-48@3600 now and there is still some room on them. Using a NH-D15 there is also literal room for the sticks, you just attach the first fan a few fins higher. But I can't get the FCLK above 1800 without raising the SOC so much that it starts eating at the 3950x boost clocks which I obviously don't want to do. Pretty normal for 4 sticks of DR and getting those low timings at 3600 is more than sweet enough. If you want to go for that 1900 FCLK, you for sure want to limit yourself to 2 SR or try 4 SR on the very good boards.

I bought simpe 32 GB dual rank Corsair Vengeance 3333 MT/s: CMK32GX4M2C3333C16 This memory also has Samsung-B for my particular sticks (though probably lower binned) and I can stably overclock it up to 3600 MT/s and sharp timings (DRAM calculator) @1.39V. It is willing to do 3666 MT/s (AM4 and 3700X) but then I get too much heat unless I put a fan on it. If I would buy memory for Ryzen again then I would buy a higher binned model, simply to have certainty. Ryzen requires fast memory, I really notice the difference with stock-settings or even 3333 MT/s and moderate or bad timings. The system boots a bit faster, it feels a bit fast when using it.

A reaction on this because I has been 19 minutes ago and I want to continue on this. The latency which Leo gets out out of the box for that 3600 MT/s is quite bad, I get 69 n in Aida64 with 3333 MT/s and sharp timings, with 3600 MT/s you can get it around 65-66 ns when you optimize the secondary and tertiary timings. My Samsung-B die is lower binned, I need 0.02 V more than what the DRAM-calculator recommends, but I get away with 16-16-16-16-32-48 Obviously there is a trade-off, you need to do some stability testing and you might get a headache if it doesn't work immediately but for Ryzen I like to shave off every ns wich I can.

Yup. I have the Asus tuf gaming x570‑plus ( no wifi. With Aura), 2TB SAMSUNG SSD, also have the Gskill Neo 3600Mhz 16GB (2x8) paired with my old Ryzen 2700X and a new 5700XT EVOKE OC. Works like a charm!

Ryxen 3900x, Gigabyte Aorus x479 gaming 7 wifi (Bios F50a), 32GB (4 x 8GB) corsair Dominator Platinum 3200 cl 16 B-Die. Not on Gigabytes QVL list yet not only did they work out of the box And with XMP enabled, I now have them running at 3733 cl16. Go figure, heh.

Those are good timings. I did the best with my M-die kit. Over the years I've had several ram sticks work that wasn't on the QVL And once I had a pair of 3200MHz Corsair LPX sticks which was on my QVL refuse to run above 2933MHz no matter what I did. It seems there's still a bit of Roll the dice and see what comes up.

Could you advise me as to why the 4x8 would have the premium, or offer any benefit or selling point over the cheaper 2x16 sticks?

4000Mhz NEO works on ASUS 570-E with 5950X (but at 1800+ fclk) - Note: you must use slots 2 and 4, not 1 and 3. Wont boot.

Seems that while 3600 MHz is the sweet spot for speed, the CL needs to be tightened in conjunction with the speed to get even more benefit. As with 3200/CL14, I can only imagine 3600/Low CL would be a price premium--if it's even available. Also it's crap that Corsair doesn't have more compatible RAM. I've been eyeballing their Dominator or Vengeance RGB Pro ram, but if it's not going to work out of the box at speeds/CL I want, I'll stick to G.Skill.

Almost think I should have gotten this or tried to snag a B Die kit, if only to gain the 32 GB capacity. I'm currently running a Patriot Viper Steel CJR 3733-17-21-21-41 kit at 3800-16-21-21-36 with synchronized Fclk. Tried to experiment with adding another of the same kit but it was defective (errors at 2133) then exchanged it and got the same problem. 16 GB seems fine for now, but if I upgrade I worry that I'll need to sell my current kit and buy something like this.

I'm wanting to buy an 3900x (maybe the 3950x), I'm not sure which kit to buy for this Infinity Fabric. I'm going to get one of these kits: G.SKILL Trident Z Neo DDR4 3800 (PC4 30400) Timing 14-16-16-36, CAS Latency 14, Voltage 1.5V or G.SKILL Trident Z Neo DDR4 3600 (PC4 28800) Timing 14-15-15-35, CAS Latency 14, Voltage 1.45V Should I go with the 36000 to keep Infinity Fabric 1:1, or go with the 3800 kit but the ratio would go 2:1? If I go with the 3800 kit is there a way to make it to 3600 with faster timings? Would the DRAM Tool show me how to do that? I'm a noob and thanks for the help Gary.

Bought 2 sets of 2x16 and all 4 came defective. Ran memtest and errors lit up across the board. Returned them for replacements and hopefully the next set comes functional

Current gskill s/w does conflict with msi s/w and breaks rgb on 1 module out of 4. I cant believe gskill could not put 1 mb for h/w lighting in their 16gb ram modules. Corsair rgb ram has it and I made a mistake of buying gskill as they were almost the same price when I bought it.

Whew.. hehe.. bought my Neo's last week. They seem to be working well with the XMP profile in Bios.(only tested with booting up and bios) Got the Neo 3600 16 19 19 39 64G (F4-3600C16Q-64GTZNC) Would have preferred the F4-3600C16Q-64GTZN but non available in NE or Amazon or other online venders available to me. Plus would probably cost 1/3 to 1/2 more for them B-dies) MB Aorus 370x Master (f5 to f11 bios) and d15s chrome black AMD 3950x(edit) No OS installed yet. (still slowly getting parts together)

I specifically chose the Gigabyte x570 elite. Almost all RU-vidrs seem to agree it's the best at price. Did you choose yours for the same idea? Have you used USB bios+?

Buildzoid has mentioned the TUF Gaming has a memory overclocking advantage, but the Elite has Intel LAN. But the Elite also has no debug LEDs. Seems like you can go either way at that price point.

Hi! I have 4 kits of 32GB Trident Z Neo 3600 RGB (128GB Total) in the ASUS Zenith Extreme II mobo and 3960X Threadripper, and it all syncs perfectly through the mobo ASUS software and with all the fans and other RGB devices (2 Thermaltake 9 fan controllers, 2 Pacific RGB pump/res, One ASUS Fan Header, 2 RGB aftermarket aRGB headers, 16 TT Ring Plus RGB fans, and more). Did I understand that this is an anomaly and shouldn't happen, or is that something that is just native to the X570 mobo's? Thanks!

Wow that's an inpressive combination of hardware and systems from different companies. There's no reason why that set-up shouldn't work but you certainly wouldn't know one way or the other until you gave it a try.

DarkPa1adin I have a newly installed 3900x system with your cooler and these RAM sticks. You’re going to want to go with the 16-16-16-36 timing CL16 ram. Ryzen is particularly picky with the memory timings. Get two of these sticks, you won’t be disappointed.

nice, this is it. I had a single stick of 8gb Hyperx predator RGB and was gonna add to it but instead I'll get this instead. not sure if the Hyperx could match the these in XMP and I'll mix match like a madman 2x16gb and 2x8gb

I've had very bad luck with this kit (32gb CL16 Trident Neo) on X570 Aorus Wifi Pro motherboard (using different sticks on different motherboards), can't get it to work reliably under XMP1 at 3600 nor at 3400 nor 3200, only at 2133. I do not recommend this particular stick. I had a 3900x on one and 3950x on another, but same motherboard. Was up until 1 am the night before last debugging what was wrong with PC until i figured out it was these particular memory stick I suggest you stay way away from them.

I have the 32 gb gskill trident neo with ASRock x570 extreme 4 wifi ax. Without xmp it runs at 2133. I enable xmp and it jumps to 3200 but I can never get it to the advertised speeds of 3600. Any help please? Thanks

My corsair LPX 3200 Mhz 16gb kit never worked at 3200 mhz, the maximum i am able to get is 2933 mhz stable with manual timings since i switched to AMD in 2017, my sytem back then was a Ryzen 5 1600 and an Asus Prime X370. Right now i have a Ryzen 5 3600 and Gigabyte Aorus X470 Ultra Gaming, but now i am able to get 3200 mhz but the timings are so loose (CL22) that it's preferable to use 2933 at CL18 instead. I am wandering if changing to Trident Z 3600 mhz CL18 will be beneficial to me or i won't be able to reach the rated 3600 mhz speed like the lpx from corsair ???

I have an asus crosshair VI hero mb with ryzen 7 1700. I have had nothing but issues with memory from start. I use trident z RGB 3200mhz 16gb kit. It was working at 2333mhz for about an year but now one stick not working. 2 dimms show up but 8.1 gb is marked as hardware reserved. Any idea why?

I I have a 3090 ftw3 hybrid at home and need to buy the rest for a beast build. Don’t care about price. I know I want: 10900k 64gb of fastest ram with lowest latency that will work with a Asus Maximus xII mobo 2 sticks vs 4? How much wattage do I need for psu? Is m.2 memory still best? Need a case that will hold 360mm aio for cpu and 360mm aio for gpu because I will upgrade to kingpin 3090. Do not care about price to performance. Pairing this with an Asus 360hz monitor. Do you have a link to video or part list that can help me? Also, which 360mm aio is the absolute best for the 10900k? Is the 10900ks better?

I have this kit but it will only run at 3466Mhz, on 3500 or 3600 it will not boot. I have a set of Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB 3733Mhz that runs fine on XMP 2, but upgrading that with another 16gig is going to cost me $400 so that is not going to happen. The MB is Rog Strix Z390 E Gaming. Any idea how i can get it to run at 3600?

So I have a 3900X on a crosshair hero vii, I’ve got the Corsair 3600 CL18 16gb 2X8 Dominator platinum RGB RAM, with XMP enabled and it worked perfectly out of the box. So this compatibility issue, is it with the cpu or the x570 motherboards? As it seems to work perfectly fine with my system. This is an important question as I was thinking of upgrading my motherboard to take advantage of the pcie gen 4.0 on a new NVME drive, but If the memory wont be compatible I won’t be doing it. Any advice would be welcome. Thank you Leo for another great video.

As ROYAL complies with both intel and Amd mobo would it be safer to go for it out of QVL..

Please pardon my ignorance. Why do motherboards need the RAM so close to the CPU? Wouldn’t designing a motherboard with the RAM on the other end of the board still work? Or does distance make a difference in speed?

Short traces reduce the time for communication and increase speed. Some hardware overclocking boards only have two DIMMs for that reason. Closer is faster.

No joy on my set. I tried 2x16GB neo and RGB kits from gskill. I have 3900x and msi x570 meg ace but with xmp on there is no boot. With manual timings only can get 3266Mhz max. Neo kit is not on msi Qvl list bit rgb kit is but still the fastest I can go is 3266Mhz on both. Do you think is mobo or cpu fault?

Panos - If you have an AIO, then there is no concern about 'fitting', it will, as there's ample room, as you've got an AIO, and therefore no big CPU cooler to get in the way - dumb question really!

7:05 my Trident Z RGB (2x8gb 3200 cl16) works with Asus Aura out of the box just fine (on X570 Strix-E). Bought a 32gb kit (4x8gb 3600 cl18) Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO White but it would not work with XMP on X570. Highest I got was 2866 CL18. Depressing... So I bought another 32gb kit of that memory, but 2x16gb 3200 cl16 (and two RGB dummies for the looks) and it works fine up to 3266mhz cl16 (all with a Ryzen 2700)

I also tried it with only two of the 3600 modules and could not go higher in frequency but this time cl17 would work. Still a bad result. Shame that Corsair isn't selling it here with 2x16 3600 cl18 in white and there is no white trident Z also....

@@MotoMario1 Did you try DRAM calculator? Sometimes one of the subtimings, the voltage, lack of geardownmode, or bus resistance settings can be a problem preventing the higher clocks.

The timings are too loose. They try to grab you with that first CAS # of 16...19 is ridiculous. I picked up a pair of NEO but it was 16-16-16-36. Stay away from that 16-19** ram! Also make sure taiphoon says Samsung B die! Hnyix isn't as good...

they have intel xmp, i think this man says, can also go in intel, but the neo one's are more compatible with amd. i think even specialy boosted for amd or something like that.
