I'm working on it.... So far the testing has gone very well, no issues. I am going to a VQ car show on Sunday, and hope to test on many different versions of the V36 G35/G37... Hang in there!
Thanks Isaac G! I will be doing local testing this spring. It has worked perfectly in my car, so I don't expect any problem, but you don't know until you test!
hey man just want to say me and all my friends who own G37’s and 370Z’s love your videos. I have a 2011 G37S 6MT that i got last month and my roommate has had his 370Z for a year. we’ve used your videos for trans fluid, clutch fluid, engine oil, brake fluid, etc. would love to see other maintenance stuff like coolant flush/spark plugs/cabin filters/belts/ etc if those are things you plan on doing. keep up the amazing work and we will continue supporting you and sharing your content around the community !!
Thanks for your support! I have already shot video for MAF cleaning, spark plug replacement, front rotor replacement, coolant replacement, sunroof drain replacement, 3 year diff bushing update and K&N panel filter update.... all waiting to be edited. So... they are in progress, but will take some time to get out. PS Thanks for subbing!!
Though I do agree that it's not really needed, it's really nice to have. It really confuses me that Infiniti/Nissan did not include that and synchro rev matching for the G37 when the 370Z has it
I see the argument for it being a sport feature but I kinda saw it as a luxury feature too. Probably not the best example of it but the BMW M cars have it. But I guess they have a stronger emphasis on sportiness than Infiniti
Very underrated RU-vidr. You deserve more subscribers & more followers on Instagram. Keep up the amazing work. You definitely deserve to be known all over the G37 forums.
Thanks Storm! Testing is going well. No one who drives a standard transmission needs to know what gear they are in, BUT I sure like seeing on the factory gauge!!
Yes there is! Over the winter I updated the firmware to allow for different differential ratios and a few minor programming updates. Testing on my G37 has gone well. In the spring, I'll start local testing to flush out any issues with other models of manual G37 vehicles.
omg you're such a genius my brother god bless you but my g37s is converted to 6mt is it still possible to work on mine once you lunch the part? thank you
Hmmm, good question. Without knowing the details of how you did the swap, I think it would work. Do you have to push the clutch to the floor to start the car?
Thanks for your interest! I want to test on a few different models of the G37 to make sure Infiniti didn't change the data on the CAN bus. I hope to have that done on June 13 at a local car show and then I will post a video here saying that it is now available... or you can also find me on Facebook: Frank Motorvate, Insta: motovatediy and twitter @MotorvateGarage
Hmm... based on what I have seen, I think it will work. I do hope to test on a 07-08 (aka V36 platform) G35 locally in Toronto. I will add you to the "interested" list. :)
Hey Motorvate, see you haven't posted in a while. Hope you have been doing well and are just putting extra time into the big reveal in your next video.
Hey Derek, You are correct... I have been working on trying to get the GTR gauges to display on the G37 LCD screen.... I think I am close, but not there just yet. Also, every time I drive my G37, I am testing the LCD mini-dash and manual gear position indicator. So far, it is working well :)
I do. However, the larger the display, the processing and data bandwidth is required. This is when it gets expensive and more complex. My mini-dash / LCD gauges uses modules that are inexpensive and easy to obtain, but the screen size is limited to around 320 x 240 pixels in order to have a fast responding display. (about 30 updates per second)
Hey Corey, Every time I drive my G37, I test my gauges. Overall, they are working really well! The only issue is about once every 30 starts, the gauge gets stuck in a reboot loop. It restarts over and over. BUT a single push on the reset button, always gets the gauges to start up with out any problems. As you can imagine, this is a tricky one to trouble shoot. My next step is to hook up a debugger and watch the start up.
I have an 09 g37 and need to replace valve cover gaskets and spark plug tube seals do I need to replace the actual valve cover too ? This shop told me I had to
I believe that was true on the G35/350 with the VQ35HR engine. However, on the G37/370, the valve cover gasket is is available separately: www.z1motorsports.com/cylinder-head-and-valve-cover/nissan/oem-370z-g37-q50-q60-valve-cover-gasket-vq37vhr-p-8879.html
Great question... right now I hope to have a bunch ready for the spring of 2023. The testing I have done so far has been good, but I do need to improve the power management when the engine is off, which is underway right now :)
There are 2 ways to do this: (1) Fix the TPMS problem. You may have one or more dead TPMS sensors or they may not be programmed to your car. (2) Temporary fix: Use a scan tool to clear the codes on the BCM. This will turn off the TPMS light for 15 minutes to a few days. As you can see, option 2 really isn't very good, so option 1 is the best and permanent fix.
Hey man idk how else to reach you but i think I have a leak somewhere ? I have a 2008 g37s coupe 6mt and every time it rained I will have a wet floor board on both sides of the car . I checked the sunroof drain and the ac drain and they both work and are not clogged . Where do you think the wet floor board coming from ?
The sunroof drains don't need to be clogged to leak. Over time the sunroof drain gasket compresses and allows water to drip and collect inside the car. This is exactly what happened to my 2011 G37... replacement sunroof drains fixed the problem.
You can remove the glove box and far right vent, then reach under the dash pull back the insulation to see the drain going into the firewall. With the sunroof open, pour a cup of water on the front right side and see if the drain drips. Watch some videos to get a better idea of what is involved.
Got it... This is for the 6 speed manual transmission, which doesn't have a factory gear position indicator. As you know, the automatics do have a manual mode and can select when to go up or down a gear.
I hope to offer them for sale by late spring early summer. I want to do additional testing on different versions/years of the G37S. I have tested it on my 2011 G37S and on a 2008 G35, everything works as expected. :) Ideally, I would like to test it on a local (Toronto) 2007 G35S, 2008 G37 Coupe, From what I have seen on Nissan's CAN bus, it should work, but I want to verify. After all, if I am selling something, I should know what it works on. Testing them allow me to verify Nissan/Infiniti didn't change the data encoding on the CAN bus. When they are ready, I will announce it here, FaceBook (Frank Motorvate), Reddit (MotorvateDIY) and on myg37.com forum (MotorvateDIY) Thanks for you interest!!
@@MotorvateDIY understable, Mines a 2013 G37S 6MT Sedan, so probably the newest and the unicorn. I’m in NY so if you need anything tested let me know, I also have a 03 G35S if needed to test that as well
Thanks for the offer, I will keep that in mind! As for the 03 G35, the gear position indicator won't work. The required data isn't on the CAN bus and the six speed manual gauge cluster doesn't have the area to display the gear. (autos and manuals have different clusters)
Soon... I want to test this on other G37s, just in case Infiniti changed something. I have added you to my "interested" list :) Thanks for your interest!
Soon!! It has work perfectly on my G37 for the last 6 months. My next step is to test on a few local cars, to make sure it works with the different option packages available for the G37. When all is ready and proven, I'll post a video here and announce it on the G37 related forums/social media. Thanks for your patience!!
It will be for sale after the power management update and more testing. I will post a video when it is ready to go! Just to be clear: This only works on the G37 with a manual transmission.
Good news! Testing has gone very well and I should be receiving the circuit boards from manufacturing later this week! I'll have a video update shortly after I receive the boards. Hang in there!
Thanks for your interest and I have added you to the "interested" list. What year is your G37? On the weekend, I will be testing it on some other G37 to verify they work on other years.
I've added you to my "interested list" My next step to to test on different version of the G37 so I can verify all is good :) This will take a bit of time to organize and execute, but I'm working on it :)
Hey Erick, Overall, it is working very well! I do need to add some power management to reduce power consumption when left plugged in the car for long periods - I'm worried it may drain the battery. It is on my list of things to do :)
